Looks like they are adding people to the quarantine and one has a fever on Spain.

Six hospitalised in Spanish Ebola scare

2Medical workers wearing protective clothing arrive at the apartment of nurse Teresa Romero

One more Spanish health care worker has been admitted to hospital for monitoring for Ebola, bringing to six the number of hospitalisations in Madrid, where a nurse has been infected with the disease.

In the latest case, a nurse was quarantined at Madrid's La Paz-Carlos III hospital this morning as a precaution, a spokesman for the hospital said.

Another nurse was admitted to the hospital with a fever last night and put in quarantine for monitoring, he added, confirming Spanish media reports.

Three other people had been placed in quarantine at the hospital for monitoring after a nurse who works there was diagnosed with Ebola on Monday in the first case of transmission of the disease outside of Africa.

The woman, identified by Spanish media as Teresa Romero, a woman in her 40s, had cared for two elderly Spanish missionaries who died from the virus following their return from west Africa.

Among the six people hospitalised was the woman's husband, who is considered "high risk".

Officials said they were monitoring as a precaution 52 other people, mostly health staff, who had been in contact with the infected nurse.

It will be interesting to find out if another has it. I can tell you I will keep living with all this going on. Today I went golfing and I am now having a Tusker (beer brand here). Just don't shake hands and do not fear. You will be fine.

By the way Albert. Everything is normal as usual here. People think I am weird for refusing to shake hands but otherwise I am having a good time enjoying life!

Excellent!  I'm the same way 7.  In the worst of pandemics, I'll still find the only open bar and sneak in for an appetizer, etc....

Was hoping you would do that.  Hit "insert image" tab.  May have to save it first, and then upload.

The one under the xxx's.  You might be able to just cut and paste it.  Don't spill the Tusker.  Nothing is worth that.

I just posted this on Ebola Info

Excerpts from an blog I watch:
my comments in (  )

Doctors in Spain hospitalised three more people and rushed to identify dozens of others at risk on Tuesday after a nurse was infected with the deadly Ebola virus, raising fears of contagion in Europe.

The European Union demanded answers about how the disease spread in a specialised disease unit while health staff protested over safety failures.

break

"It would be very naive to think that there is no possibility of contagion," the government's health emergencies coordinator Fernando Simon told Cadena Ser radio.  (such a different perspective than CDC)

break

Spanish government officials said the nurse began to feel ill on September 30 while on leave after treating the two missionaries, but was not admitted to hospital until five days later.

Health workers' unions said the nurse had called the Carlos III hospital when she felt ill but was first referred back to a local health centre.

The hospital's director, Rafael Perez Santamarina, said she was not admitted at that time because she did not yet have a high fever or other Ebola symptoms.

(This looks familiar.  Not admitted even though she had treated ebola patients ! ! !)

break

"Medical staff protested outside the main site of La Paz hospital in their white coats, yelling for Health Minister Ana Mato to resign.

"People are freaked out," a cardiologist at the hospital told AFP. "We cannot understand how someone who was wearing a double protection suit and two pairs of gloves could have been contaminated."  (must find out why or may have a repeat elsewhere)

Health worker unions complained staff had not been adequately trained.

"We do not have the infrastructure to tackle a virus like this," said Elena Moral, leader of the CSIF-AGCM union.  (This is Spain in the EU not West Africa)

break

Just saw a news report about the Spanish Nurse. Apparently the PPE supplied was well below the WHO's recommended standards. The clothing was porous. How dumb is that!

I also heard the unions are up in arms. They are demanding the proper equipment.

Well, maybe the WHO should be involved when countries bring a case back for treatment. God forbid.

very irresponsible situation generated in Spain. how stupid can one be on bringing home a spaniard and not provinding best top equipment for the ones that had to work at that case... it is obvious that the most of the health staff didnt had the proper equipment, as they surely didnt bring that from home...

extreme stupidity.. how much more idiotic situation will we see in the next weeks and month? it just seems now like a horror movie with many weird twists.... like a stupid/bad/endless "scary movie"
