The US elections were taken over by criminal groups-so the US people had a choice between a fraud-Trump and a war-criminal h.clinton ("We came, we saw, now he is dead ha, ha, ha," after the rape and murder of Libyan dictator Gadaffi-putting Libya into chaos-with slave markets and chaos in north Africa. CIA sending Libyan Sarin to "moderate"Syrian rebels and the clinton accusing Assad of using Sarin.)

The present political chaos in the US is getting unacceptable for the world bringing to much risks. There are more than enough people that could represent the US people internationaly. Maybe it is time for a "clean-up" under international supervision of the "political parties" (or the companies they represent)  to bring back a certain form of democracy to the US ?

I strongly believe that the middle ground (whilst far from perfect) is the best political perch to occupy.

The far right locks most people into poverty, by taking all the money for the rich and powerful.  The dirt-poor are effectively prisoners, as travel is expensive.  They are wage-slaves as they still must eat.  Often medicine is out-of-reach.

The far left is no better.  Because most people will not work (at all!!!) unless there is personal profit in it, the only way to have an economy which functionsl on the left, is to force people to work.  Goodbye freedom!  This escalates, in a series of attempts at fairness, into vast unwieldy beuraucrasies where eventually the whole system collapses.

As a consequence, I vote in the opposite direction (usually) to the party in power.  Europe appears to me to have slid too far to the left and America appears to have plunged headlong across to the right.

In America and Europe, the very political frameworks upon which the parties operate have become slanted one way or the other.  Europe has become undemocratic, by virtue of both its beuraucrasy and its extreme left-leaning idealism, and America by the financial lack of restraint in its voting system.  In America only the megga-rich can afford to run for office, so a right-wing bias is produced and entrenched.

Until the amount of money a party can use to fund a campaign is limited, America cannot effectively address its problems.  Unless Sanders (or anyone else for whom democracy is paramount, it does not have to be him) gets in and CHANGES THE UNDERLYING SYSTEM, any other policies will be sticking, sticking-plasters over gaping wounds.  (I have no idea how to help Europe, its political complexity dwarfs that of the Gormenghast story.  That is why I voted for Brexit.  In all other respects I thought European union wonderful, but without true democracy underlying its increasingly federal unity, there is no hope of avoiding the left-wing pitfalls in the long term.)

Techno-I think you did get my point. There is more than impeach Trump https://impeachdonaldtrumpnow.org/ needed to get the US being in a position it can take care of things. The political processes in the US (and the EU) are not working the way they should be.

There is a growing indifference towards politics in western countries. That indifference is a danger in itself.

We-in the EU-are not better than the US, only proberbly less dangerous being divided by defenition.

Maybe to restore some international respect bringing EU/US politicians responsible for several war-crimes, crimes against humanity would be a good start ?

Definitely on the same page, DJ!  Anything to reduce the corruption on both sides of the pond would be a good thing.  But, overall, I think a root and branch reform is needed.  There is much to admire on both sides of the Atlantic too, but unless democracy and fairness are constantly fought for, they leak away, and the rate of flow is increasing.

Democracy itself-eventhough far from perfect-might slide into the dangerzone...

By the way-I hoped the Brexit-vote would be a wake-up call for EU-reforms. Politicians may need an eye-doctor Cool ! "The shore has to stop the ship " it seems.

Yep!!!

Back in the 70s Britain was not given the chance to vote on joining a federal European Union; we were only asked to vote on a common market.  Yet The European Parliament has a goal of "Ever closer Union".  As far as I know, no one else was asked this either.  I think a union is a truly great idea, but far too important a concept to be dragged into by an (in everything but name) dictatorship.  I would love to be part of a European Union, just not this undemocratic one.  Union yes, but not "at any price".

Everyone I know, who voted out, say they did so because either: "We went in undemocratically." or "The whole move to federalism is undemocratic." or both.  Yet whenever Brexit is mentioned in the news us brexiteers are accused of everything from nationalism, Islamophobia and racism to deceit, meglomania, empire building and delusion.  The commonest reason for leaving is never mentioned.

Someone is not listening!

There is a whole discussion about whether or not we should be/want to be in the customs union and single market.  Funny, I thought we answered that question in the 70s

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/48386.htm

In this historic transformation, American political culture put on a new face: perpetual wars, Wall Street swindles and Washington scandals. It culminated in the farcical Hillary Clinton – Donald Trump presidential election campaign: the war goddess-cuckquean of chaos versus the crotch-grabbing real-estate conman.

The public heard Secretary of State Clinton’s maniacal laugh upon her viewing the ‘snuff-film’ torture and slaughter of the wounded Libya’s President Gadhafi: She crowed: ‘We came, we saw…and he died’ with a sword up his backside. This defined the Clinton doctrine in foreign affairs, while slaughter of the welfare state and the bloated prison industry would define her domestic agenda.

Trump’s presidential election campaign went about the country pleasuring the business and finance elite (promises of tax cuts, deregulations, re-contamination and jacking up the earth’s temperature with a handful of jobs), and successfully pushed aside the outrage over his crude rump grabbing boasts.

Wars, Wall Street, Silicon Valley and Hollywood all gathered to set the parameters of the United States’ political economy: The chase was on!

The Clinton sleuths uncovered an army of Russian conspirators running Trump’s electoral campaign, writing his speeches, typing his ‘Tweets’, designing his tactics and successfully directing the votes of millions of duped ‘deplorables’ – the rural and rust-belt poor.

The entire media world auto-pleasured their friends and allies with the Trump Administration’s political strip tease, shedding appointees, dumping nominees and misdirecting policies with a string of revelations. According to dubious anecdotes, the Special Prosecutor uncovered Russian conspiracies to enlist Salvation Army bell ringers and Washington lobbyists. The ‘deplorables’ meanwhile tuned out in disgust.

Trump retaliated with midnight Tweets and appointed a clutch of retired Generals, who had been battle-seasoned in Obama’s seven losing wars and even found a loudmouth South Carolina belle to evoke visions of mushroom clouds in the United Nations. Naturally, there was the coterie of Zionist advisers from the ‘think tanks’ and from his own family working double time to set US-Middle East policy on the road to new wars.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-12-12/john-lennon-was-right-government-run-maniacs-maniacal-means Of course there is a long list-both in the US and other countries-of people being "neutralized".

The atmosphere of conflict in the US is getting very unhealthy. Often it is the poor and innocent that pay the price.

It would be a good thing when a "third party" could bring stability to the US. (DJ-and I admit Bernie Sanders is not in that position.)

I'd vote for him if you guys who support him would teach him basic math. His ideas don't work because math.

And talking about "international supervision" of anything America is truly as corny as it felt typing it.

The rest of the world is a catastrophe who absolutely want the worst for America. It would be beyond stupid to allow them to have one word in defining anything about it.

I want the best for America, preferably not at the cost of the rest of the world - but still the best.

I am certain that is not Trump.

But then again, I am an Irish/Scottish/Englishwoman.  You cant trust us foreigners; can you, TG?

http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2018/01/08/548179/bernie-sanders-donald-trump-Mexico-border-wall DJ-Bernie Sanders making the essential point-Trump is not working for the working class American that voted for him. He is betraying them. DJ- Spending 18 billion US$ on a US-Mexico wall instead of giving people less reason to become economic and/or climate refugees is insane.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/oprah-winfrey-considering-president-donald-trump-bloomberg-a7607441.html DJ-One of the reasons Trump did win the election is that the democrats supported a war criminal h.clinton  https://www.globalresearch.ca/hillary-clinton-we-created-al-qaeda/5337222 instead of the better candidates. Bernie Sanders, Oprah Winfrey should be able to get Trump out of the White House !

(Carbon20-In a democracy the head of state should be elected by the people-in my opinion. Any Royal will come in the uneasy position to seperate national interests from family (fortune) interests. The Dutch Royals may own-indirect via funds etc. up to 25% of Royal Dutch Shell-their indirect power-undemocratic-may still be above any choosen parliament. Family-dynasties-like the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockefeller_family, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_family, see also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Political_families_of_the_United_States undermine democracy. With 1% of the people maybe "owning" up to 90% of all there is to own democracy can not function.)
