For those who are going to collect rainwater, have you gave any thought to the bird droppings that may be in the water?
If your collecting from your rain gutter, everything on the roof will also be in the water.
If you going to use for flushing the toilet, it may be OK, but would suggest added a cup or two of bleach to kill whatever might be in it, before using any of it, or bringing it into the house.

Will chlorox kill VIRUS? I have a Katadyn "Ceredyn" water purifier. Anyone know if that kills VIRUS? I know the above 2 items kill almost everything, but I am unsure about virus. Thanks. Rocky

Rocky, bleach is supposed to kill off the virus. There is a thread in here that explains how much to use...I plan on boiling too.

I built an overflow system to filter off the initial dirty rainwater to our rain water tank. Works really well.
Yesterday I arrived at work to open up as I normally do. A bird had dropped a large turd on the front gate padlock. I had to laugh. |
