We have a broken immigration system. The President has said it and added that everyone agrees. Though it would be dishonest to claim that everyone agrees why it is broken.
I agree that it is broken. There are quotas on immigration from various countries so that once a certain number of people enter from a country no more can (unless there is victimization). Take Mexico for example, the quota of people permitted to legally come into this country is so shockingly small that illegal immigration is rampant. And of course with illegal immigration comes the inability to screen for disease, criminality, or other characteristics that should preclude a person from coming in. So is the solution to increase the quotas, make it easier to legally enter the country? To encourage people to follow the law, get jobs, pay taxes? It should be. But it is not. I would prefer as close to open borders as possible. A system in which it is easy for law abiding people to immigrate and contribute. Instead both major parties prefer to leave immigration broken. The Republicans want illegals to work for less than minimum wage illegally all the while paying taxes under someone else social security number with no chance of a refund. I call that ID fraud. The Democrats want them to vote for Democrats. Um, they are not allowed to legally vote yet we are told there is not voting fraud. The Presidents solution is to exacerbate the brokenness of the system by simply not obeying the law to bring illegal actions to justice. Which brings us to our second "broken" from the title. The President took an oath to uphold the Constitution and our laws. He is willfully and blatantly violating that oath. His excuse is that he waited too long. Isn't that the excuse of dictators? We have a separation of powers which is designed to hold back the abuses of government which we can witness all across the globe and across the span of history too. It is not like government abuse is rare. These actions threaten the separation of powers and should our next president follow suit and do the same in whatever area he or she has waited too long then our whole Democracy is threatened. We are at a crossroads in history. Should this kind if illegal action continue then yesterdays actions will live on in infamy as the day we started down the road toward tyranny. (Though truth be said we have been on the road for a long time and the consequences will be terrible) Those terrible consequences of the third brokenness have already begun. We have a government that taxes us too much, steals even more in the form of hidden taxes, claims to distribute that money to the poor (though it is stolen before they can benefit), and does distribute that money to the friends of politicians. Those same friends are the ones who it is claimed must pay virtually all of the taxes in this country. Does anyone think they pay those taxes without being compensated? The rich pay most of the taxes but receive more compensation than they pay in. They are in fact getting more out than they pay in. The poor and the middle class pay for the brunt of what the government uses in those hidden taxes (like QE 1,2,3...) and they don't even know they are paying them. About half of the population thinks they do not pay in because their tax forms tell them they are receiving more than they pay in (in the form of tax credits like EITC). When they look at their tax forms and see that they earned $20,000, paid no taxes, and received $5000 in EITC they think they have benefited at someone else's expense. I once bought a pair of very high quality speakers from a guy off the back of his truck. I did not stop to think that if they were stolen like he claimed that I would be benefiting from someone else's expense but I did later stop to think that I could not complain to the police because I was guilty too. In fact the speakers were not high quality. They were manufactured with the sole purpose of selling them off the back of a truck to an unsuspecting dope. I did learn a lesson. The person who pays no taxes on his $20,000 income is not going to complain because he thinks he is getting a deal. Never mind, that he should have earned $40,000 and paid $4000 leaving him with far more in his pocket. Never mind that the things he buys with his $20,000 cost him about $20,000 when it should have cost him $10,000 leaving him with far more to spend on other things. The person whose house has a market value of $150,000 looks at his tax bill and sees that the assessor has valued his home at only $35,000 then used that as a base to figure his real estate taxes. He thinks he is getting a deal. But it is every bit as much of a scam as the speakers from the back of a truck. The system is broken. So what else is new under the sun? Well here is one new thing. Those 5 million illegal aliens who should have come here legally but did not because the system is broken... well they are now going to start paying their fair share of taxes according to our president. Except that most of them (like 50% of people in this country) do not earn enough to pay taxes. How long can a system survive in which 50% of people pay no taxes? Now, previously those people filed using someone else's social security number. Now they will file real returns - and now they will collect tax credits like the EITC. Instead of adding to the tax base they will be receiving those refunds they were previously denied and also claiming an additional $29 million in credits. And all so the friends of the Republicans can pay less than minimum wage and the Democrats can get votes while the rich pay high taxes for which they receive compensation and the rest of us think we pay little taxes but instead get royally ripped off in hidden taxes. |

P.s. I just read that the amount of money illegal aliens pay into the system but cannot receive back as a refund is $6 billion dollars. Well now many of them can get a refund. Broken and broken.

The main reason it's broken the laws are not enforced. I for one am sick of politicians promising to do this if you will just do that.

I agree with both of you. Amnesty does cause more illegal immigration and yes the fact that they laws we have are not enforced is a major reason the system is broken.
Did you all know that in a poll about 50% of the population of Mexico would like to move to the U.S?

Under the president’s new amnesty, businesses will have a $3,000-per-employee incentive to hire illegal immigrants over native-born workers because of a quirk of Obamacare. President Obama’s temporary amnesty, which lasts three years, declares up to 5 million illegal immigrants to be lawfully in the country and eligible for work permits, but it still deems them ineligible for public benefits such as buying insurance on Obamacare’s health exchanges |

According to the article this exact situation happened before. Since it happened before that means they knew about it and rather than being a quirk of amnesty it is far more likely to be a planned effect of amnesty.
The President is quoted as saying that immigrants are good for the economy and therefore good for everyone. The same President hated things that Bush did that were good for everyone specifically because they were not unfairly good for his constituents. Now he is doing something that is not good for some of his constituents and he uses that as his excuse. What BS. Well illegal immigrants are not good for the economy in so many ways. Time to change the system so that more immigrants can be legal and not be sponges. IN the mean time throw out the lying democrats.
