It is not over. Just because some in power have decided to ignore climate change and save money and not prepare - it is not over.

The Gulf Stream continues to dilute and we are still do, if for little more a 20-40 year Mini-Ice Age which will shut down most of the northern United States.

Many solar vortexes have made their way down and we are now seeing serious cold weather in New England and the power if out in Syracuse, New York and other areas.

Perhaps the conservatives may rally the military and cut many social programs - but they will not be doing thing one to prepare neither for disease Pandemics or climate change - both who could destroy America much quicker than a handful of terrorist attacks cyber or otherwise.

I had a vivid dream last night and I was with a group of blacks roaming the streets in a gang trying to survive. Never had a problem with minorities - like those who first came to America - we were minorities then - they are survivors as we were and it is likely I will be right in the middle of them all - as we try to survive a Pandemic in freezing temperatures of a coming Ice Age.

Once more the primitives are dancing around the fire.  It is highly unlikely that C02 emissions are causing Global warming.  I have been posting on this for years and if anything is coming is a bad "Ice Age" lasting from 30-100 years in North America.  I am not affiliated with any big money or political groups - I am poor and an independent thinker who sees the entire climate change industry as one in which countries will make token changes - i.e. new bus schedules to decrease pollution verses capping refineries.

 https://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/washington-whispers/2009/10/07/scientist-carbon-dioxide-doesnt-cause-global-warming

These basics have been pushed under the rug in a firestorm of incensed protestors and scientists more interesting in preserving funding that the reality.

In taking on lawmakers pushing for a cap-and-trade plan to deal with emissions, Steward tells Whispers that he's worried that the legislation will result in huge and unneeded taxes. Worse, if CO2 levels are cut, he warns, food production will slow because plants grown at higher CO2 levels make larger fruit and vegetables and also use less water. He also said that higher CO2 levels are not harmful to humans. As an example, he said that Earth's atmosphere currently has about 338 parts per million of CO2 and that in Navy subs, the danger level for carbon dioxide isn't reached until the air has 8,000 parts per million of CO2.

We continue to get two stories. If enough ice melts though, it will dilute the Gulf Stream and cause both North America and Europe to plunge into a mini-ice age.

As America tries to recover from economic slump, a 17 trillion dollar cost item to save the planet is going to hurt industry a lot and cost us a lot of jobs.

This was all fine and good when people used to float in boats and worry about the whales, although a thriving fishing industry is one of the prime pumps in New England economy.

So, AFT intelligencia  - what you think?  Is the whole C02 thing a hoax and will China continue to pollute without hesitate no matter what accord is reached?

Last night it was cold here in Carmel, California. I had to sleep with 5 blankets and it is June. There is something wrong. I have been saying this for years but he global warming is melting the ice at the pole and glaciers and we are about to go into another Ice Age.

Something is wrong. Here in the valley and especially Salinas and down in Fresno we used to have notorious 104 degree temps for weeks and fry in July. It isn't happening.

The media is confused because they kept pushing for some big control of emissions with seeing the writing on the wall.

As I wrote last year we are headed into an La Nina scenario and things just aren't going well globally. In the next few years we will see this - and even if we were plunged into a hundred years of severe cold, it would shut down the Northeast part of America, New York, Chicago, dropping as low as LA in California. This would close the airports and nearly shutdown the government in D.C. There is simply no simple way to prepare. A frozen New York just doesn't work.

Perhaps I will finally get the book out - The Coming of the Ice Age - it is time for it.

we've had the warmest start to our winter on record,

as i write we just getting some rain that our farmers really need,

no matter what we do ....its not enough.....

we are going to see some BIG changes sorry we are SEEING them now

maybe we heading for a Manmade war to wipe a few billion out............

Medclinician, we are experiencing "climate disruption."

As the temperature of earth increases, old patterns in atmospheric circulation are disrupted....the normally reliable pattern of the polar vortex becomes erratic, dipping far down into the lower 48, bringing unseasonal cold and rain at odd times.

Some winters we get horrible snow/cold, others are mild.

There is no question of the damage that carbon dioxide accumulation does to the planet...just like there is no question that, as you turn a stove burner higher, the water boils faster.  Simple physics.

The earth absorbs the energy of four Hiroshima-sized nuclear explosions every second thanks to the increasing concentration of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxides and other greenhouse gases.

I track this site nearly every day, it shows how the Arctic sea ice extent is shrinking over time.  When we lose this, it is game over.

its the thermal exchange sea currents that are stopped and you get an ice age

it starts with fresh water going into the sea and then you see arctic pulses of freezing weather hitting and disrupting the seasons

bot of those are happening now

and ice age is on the way

Yes and no, Kilt.

You are correct that that is how past ice ages have started.  When the thermohaline current (which is slowing down currently and which is driven by the fresh water from Arctic ice melting) stops, then the non-latitude-appropriate-warming of Europe will stop.  This, however, is vastly unlikely to produce an ice age this time.  It will be something of a moot point for us poor souls living in Europe, which will be hit by a localized mini ice age.  But for the rest of the world there will be even greater warming - from the thermohaline heat which should have bathed Europe.  (Incidentally that current slightly cools America's eastern states at the moment.  So, New York and Boston could get some very warm surprises.)

But this is not an ice-age.  In fact, the effects of our emissions probably prevented one way back when we first discovered fire, and our emissions were a tiny fraction of what they are now.  http://arstechnica.com/science/2016/01/we-narrowly-missed-a-new-ice-age-and-now-we-wont-see-one-for-a-long-time/  (As a point of interest, this work is by VERY well respected scientists.)

This is not because our CO2 emissions cause a huge effect, but because the system that they effect  is was very finely balanced.

So, overall, now our emissions have increased even more, we are in for a rough ride, vastly hotter for the most part, but also with changed patterns which produce localized, droughts, floods, winds hurricanes, cooling and other unexpected horrors - including localized hot-spots which could be ghastly.

The total heat need not be too big a challenge - for the prepared, The carboniferous was quite survivable after all.  But, the destabilization of the weather patterns is, frankly, absolutely terrifying.  Accurate weather prediction renders: farming effective, airplane travel safe, shipping safer, fishing possible and supports many other benefits of our civilization (how many power outages are caused by high winds and snow?).  Another problem is the kinking of the jet stream.  As the circumpolar winds are driven by the temperature differential between the arctic and the sub arctic, they get weaker and kinkier.  This can crash hot air into cold air.  That produces, torrential rain, fog and/or snow - lots of snow.

Changing coastlines, famine, displaced people and the diseases they carry, destructive weather, which renders those sufficiently inland to avoid the sea, homeless and the rampant spread of mosquitoes* are just a few of the joys to come.

*During the carboniferous period, when the carbon we are currently re-releasing was laid down, insects grew to gigantic proportions.  Dragonflies with meter long wingspans for instance, ruled the skies.  Imagine that for mosquitoes!  AAAAAGH!
Absence of proof is not proof of absence.

one thing to monitor is overall food production
there are 7.5 BILLION humans on the planet now
thats a LOT of food that needs to be produced everyday

humans depend on a limited # of grains to sustain this massive population
when you see wheat, rice, corn, oats and barley production start to fall year after year
you KNOW we are in real trouble
