Creating News - The Big Lie Technique

Have been reading for days that icon McDonald's was headed for a fall.

Trending over several years - it appeared Cheeseburger-Fries-and a Coke - were in trouble.

Now they have a new CEO - new hamburgers and a glowing report of all time high sales.  Seems there is a not so new way to spin reality. Make up your own.

Now this is similar to when one of our most famous people got up for the State-of-the-Union Address and said we have one of the best and healthiest economies in the world as many people in the industry are saying the stocks are about to tank and and oil price-per-barrel plunges downward.

Hitler was (as I studied in school) the first one to really name and use - "The Big Lie Technique."  What is that exactly?

A big lie (German: Große Lüge) is a propaganda technique. The expression was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, about the use of a lie so "colossal" that no one would believe that someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously." Hitler asserted the technique was used by Jews to unfairly blame Germany's loss in World War I on German Army officer Erich Ludendorff.

We have seen it in marketing and politics since the beginning of time, but recently in advertising and politics it has made a massive comeback. We find it in our packaging of half full potato chip bags, or cookies, or amazing pictures of hamburgers and TV dinners that never match up to the Kodachrome.

They say when you break a mirror you will have 7 years of bad luck.  Well that has what has been happening in the U.S. since the arrival of the current administration.

Most of the performers took the gong with sheepish good grace, but there were exceptions. Barris would then ask the judge(s) in question why they gonged the act.

comment: can we here a collective Gong for most of congress in learning to work together in a bi-partisan manner and be honest.  There is likely less faith in Congress than at any other time in history. 

Another big lie - the name of a bill and it's general description is what is in it.  There is so much garbage in most bills that the fat greatly exceeds the lean.  

Now, what is relevant to AFT is reporting of current diseases and how it has been for the last 10 years. The best way not to tell lies is to not say anything. 

This I would say is akin to a woman's "silent treatment" following the words"whatever", "go ahead and do it", "really"  This equals the kiss of death. I have been told that silence is much worse than abusive and jet noise level rants you could imagine. You can put a person "in the hole" and kill them with silence, make them hallucinate, and it can be torture.

So, maybe "as the world turns" we have a new weapon of those who would really deceive us the most.
