Kunstler: Systemic Turmoil, Structural Reform

http://peakoil.com/publicpolicy/kunstler-systemic-turmoil-structural-reform

“All this trouble with money comes from one meta problem: aggregate industrial growth has ended. It has stopped more in some parts of the world than others, while in the USA it has actually been contracting. The cause is simple: the end of cheap energy, oil in particular. At over $70-a-barrel the price kills economies; under $70-a-barrel the price kills oil production. The bottom line is that, in the broadest sense, the world can no longer count on getting more stuff, except waste, garbage, political unrest, and the other various effects of entropy. From now on, there is only less of everything for a global population that has not stopped growing. The folks on-board are still having sex, of course, which has a certain byproduct.

This dynamic was plain to see a decade ago, but the people who run finance and governments thought it would be a good idea to maintain the appearance of growth via the usufruct mechanisms of central banking: ZIRP, QE, market intervention, and universal accounting fraud. It’s not working so well. Debt was generated in place of the missing growth, and now there is too much of it that can’t be repaid on a coherent schedule. Many nations, parties, and entities are in trouble with debt and the prospective defaults are starting to pile up like SUVs on a fog-bound highway. Greece is just the first one fishtailing into a guard-rail.”

Coming To America: The Hoarding Begins: Greeks Rush To Grocery Stores, Gas Stations and ATMs In Anticipation of Collapse

Burr told constituents not to mob ATMs

http://www.politico.com/blogs/glennthrush/0409/Burr_told_constituents_not_to_mob_ATMs.html

I'm not posting this info to try and instill fear in anybody

but merely to say "you NEED to have some insurance"

the financial systems are incredibly fragile and incredibly corrupt

any type of "black swan" event can cause a collapse

and as someone older and wiser than me once said

"you don't wanna be one of the last two people fighting over the LAST can of cremed corn at Walmart"

NUMEROUS financial experts including the heads of some of the largest bond and hedge funds

are telling people to "stash some cash under the mattress"

heed the warnings

Greece Collapse: The real situation in the streets of Athens

http://ferfal.blogspot.com/2015/06/greece-collapse-real-situation-in.html

As you say, a lot of people have been caught completely unprepared. We discuss these topics here all the time because we do prepare for these events and notice the red flags, especially such obvious ones as those seen in Greece. Still, the average person in Greece, just like the average person elsewhere, is not a prepper let alone a true survivalist. I think that in the following years, the two main concerns people will have will be the economy and crime. The economic mess you are already seeing and have experienced it for some time now. Crime will be the next stage. With growing poverty, social instability and lots of cash on the streets there’s no way around it you will see crime rise unless the government does and outstanding job in keeping it under control, which I don’t think they will."

This Picture and Video Explain Exactly Why Doomsday Preppers Are Getting Ready For An Imminent Collapse

http://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/this-picture-and-video-explain-exactly-why-doomsday-preppers-are-getting-ready-for-an-imminent-collapse_07012015#comments

preparedness=insurance

"According to analyst Greg Mannarino, the debt collapse could be so severe that millions of people may die from starvation as credit lines lock up and the normal flow of commodity commerce ceases.

That may sound impossible, but consider what happens when the food stamp Electronic Benefits Transfer system goes down for just 12 hours. You guessed it – complete pandemonium. When the system failed across 16 states in 2013 one person dependent on these benefits summed it up with this one statement:

“How Am I Going to Feed My Family?”

Duh...that is why we prep, we know that all our country or any country can fall apart really fast. I am going to get more freeze dry meat and more or should I say fresh pasta at Sams. Nothing better than meat with noodles in a gravy! I am really good at that dish!

Several experts are predicting a 25-year great depression ahead soon, in which the market could also possibly collapse by 70% overnight.

On another note...

Greeks defy Europe with overwhelming referendum 'No'

Greeks voted overwhelmingly "No" on Sunday in a historic bailout referendum, partial results showed, defying warnings from across Europe that rejecting new austerity terms for fresh financial aid would set their country on a path out of the euro.

With nearly a fifth of the votes counted, official figures showed 60.4 percent of Greeks on course to reject a bailout offer from creditors that was the official issue of the ballot. The figures showed the Yes vote drew 40.1 percent. An official projection of the final result is expected at 1800 GMT (1400 EDT).

Officials from the Greek government, which had argued that a 'No' vote would strengthen its hand to secure a better deal from international creditors after months of wrangling, immediately said they would try to restart talks with European partners.

"The negotiations which will start must be concluded very soon, even within 48 hours," government spokesman Gabriel Sakellaridis told Greek television." We will undertake every effort to seal it soon."

Euclid Tsakalotos, the government's chief negotiator said talks could restart as early as Sunday evening.

Many of Athens' partners have warned over the past week that a 'No' vote would mean cutting bridges with Europe and driving Greece's crippled financial system into outright bankruptcy, dramatically worsening the country's 5-year-long depression.

If confirmed, the result would also deliver a hammer blow to the European Union's grand single currency project. Intended to be permanent and unbreakable when it was created 15 years ago, the euro zone could now be on the point of losing its first member with the risk of further unraveling to come.

"I believe such a result can be used as a strong negotiating tool so that Europeans can understand that we are not a colony," said Nefeli Dimou, a 23-year-old student in Athens.
