Hi Penny.   I gave you full mod functions here on AFT.  Unfortunately there are a number of spam/porn posts throughout the forum that need to be removed.  Are you able to clean up this site?   If need be, we can bring over some of the mods from swineflu.org to assist you.  It's your decision. 
 
Let me know if you think you can do this.

I'll go ahead and start on some cleanup. If anybody knows of where there are posts that need to be cleaned up they can post here that way I won't miss any.

Albert, another 100 or so posts deleted and I blocked the IP addresses and suspended the accounts of the spammers. Some of the IP addresses were the same.

The porn is gone, I think I got all of it, I found two posts? I am not sure how heavily Albert wants this site moderated at this point? I don't have a problem getting rid of alot of stuff Smile but this site has been alot less moderated than swineflu.org which is where I am used to moderating at. I don't want to go overboard over here.

I'm pretty sure this site will be around for a long time.

I was just letting people know where many of the users here went and where others looking for "swine flu" information can go.  swineflu.org is much more active now and has taken the front seat for swine flu information. This site is good for everything else + swine flu talk.

No, I don't think Albert will abandon this site. I think he has too much much "attachment" to it Smile, I think it will be here for awhile. It is just different from the other site, in the fact that there is alot more open discussion about various topics. The other board is pretty strict as far as "topics" go and pretty heavily moderated. I believe this is the first time in ages he has let anyone moderate over here, besides himself, he loves this board.

Personally, I have tried to keep O.T. which now that Swine Flu is the official main topic in the discussion area. We do have some dog fights in the news on occasion- but this generally occurs if I post something which is non .gov spin - even with a link to Lancet or major news source.

I think you are pretty on target as to this site being near and dear to .. Albert. It does represent a serious accomplishment as well purely survival after waves of malcontents over the years. IMHO people here do like discussing a wide variety of topics and when there was no Avian news- it saved the site. It would have died.

As time goes on- I think both Albert and I (mine either through bodily death or simply involvement in other projects) will be assigning site things to members. I am no longer part of Admin here- though I was.

Good luck on the really stressful part of running a site.

Med, you can delete any of the posts you have written any time, just click under post options under any post you have made. As far as deleting the whole thread, Albert can make that decision.

Pennam last night you said you wanted to work with me cleaning up my book thread. Now we have someone with access deleting my posts. Its one thing that a few users don't like my posts are writing- its another for them to control the whole site. Has there been a take over at the site.

Couldn't Albert just write me an email or something. I've been here 4 years.

Who is trying to control the content on this discussion site?
