Yep, times are going to get expensive. Just can't wait! If people think the economy is bad now just wait 6 months!

Indiana corn looks pretty bad right now. Look up and see what corn is used for in everyday products. Spark plugs use cornstarch for the molds, makeup, medicine bases, its in everything !

Oddly enough, here in Minnesota, we've got more than enough water for our corn. I've got some friends in Oklahoma and they're telling me that their water is so scarce that the cattle ranchers are probably going to have their beef and whatnot farms fail, and that one guy in particular actually sold all his cows to someone here in Minnesota because not only do we have corn, we have hay as well. He said that the butcher shops aren't taking any more cows either. Back to corn, I'm not a farmer, being a cityboy, but a family member said that the corn barely tassled, then was too dry to get any farther, so it died. The biggest problem is that corn is one of the, if not *THE* most water intensive crop we grow. It wasn't ecologically viable in the first place, but we grew it anyway. We'll probably have to figure out a different cash crop that isn't such a drain on everything. |

Well here we go. On CNBC the Markets are iffy about corn, wheat, and soybeans. If we don't get water in the next 3 weeks these crops will be scarce. That means beef and anything that eats corn, wheat, or soybeans will not have very much this year. That means us guys.
In Colorado we have a headline, "Colorado corn crop dying in the fields" If we have a few years of this we will be in trouble. |
