If i can get a couple of verifications this would indeed be bad news. It is from the "punch", so i need a second source.
Ebola: Panic at LUTH over death of patient September 2, 2014 by Bukola Adebayo 2 Comments [print] The death of a patient, who is suspected to have Ebola, has caused panic among patients and doctors at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi- Araba, Lagos State. A reliable source, who confirmed this development to our correspondent in Lagos on Tuesday, said the patient was brought in by members of the health authorities at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, to the hospital on Monday. According to the doctor who was on duty when the patient was admitted into the Accident and Emergency Unit, the patient was vomiting blood and stooling, symptoms which are similar to that of an Ebola patient, before he died in the early hours of Tuesday at the Spill-Over ward of the hospital. He said, “They rushed him to the Accident and Emergency Unit, and since he was vomiting and purging and he also had high fever, we quickly took his temperature, it was very high. We were all scared to take his blood samples because we were not wearing any Protective Protective Equipment. “We had to take him out of the emergency ward to the other spill-over ward to avoid any form of contamination. We also reported to the Lagos State Government so that they can take him to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Yaba for proper treatment. But he had started vomiting blood by this morning , and few hours after he died.” The doctor said that the body has being transferred to the Mainland Hospital, Yaba, for testing and confirmation of the cause of death. The source said, “Like I said, we could not take any blood sample when he was alive because we were not wearing PPE, and we could not manage him effectively because of the severity of the symptoms we saw and considering the fact that he was coming from the airport. He could have been coming from an Ebola-affected country. “They will need to establish the cause of death, so as to be able to know whether to quarantine those that he had contact with from the airport to the hospital. LUTH does not have the facilities to handle any suspected case of Ebola, government should know that, so they don’t keep bringing suspected cases here. All suspected cases should be taken to IDH.” Several calls to the LUTH’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Akin Oshibogun, to confirm if the patient had died of Ebola were unanswered as at press time This airport is a major hub for the city of Lagos, 21 million people? http://www.punchng.com/news/fear-over-suspected-ebola-death-at-luth/ |

Well that would be some bad news.
The only info that the WHO has released in the last couple weeks were couple cases counts, the Congo and Senegal. Not sure what is going on with the WHO at the moment. We've been getting very little information for awhile now. They don't seem to mention anything unless the media brings it up first. |

This story is also on the AP, and is pretty significant if you read it carefully.
A key international doctors group is warning that the world is 'losing the battle' against Ebola and U.N. officials are imploring all countries to step up their response by sending help to affected countries. Doctors Without Borders President Joanne Liu says her organization is completely overwhelmed as it treats Ebola patients in four West African countries. She is calling on countries with biological disaster response capacity to respond with civilian and military medical personnel. "Six months into the worse Ebola epidemic in history, the world is losing the battle to contain it," Liu said at a United Nations forum on the outbreak. "Ebola treatment centers are reduced to places where people go to die alone, where little more than palliative care is offered." World Health Organization chief Margaret Chan says the United Nations is urgently scaling up its response and called on all countries to contribute to the effort. David Nabarro, who is coordinating the U.N.'s response to the Ebola crisis, says the U.N. is "bringing in as outside health workers as much as we can." http://www.independent.com.mt/articles/2014-09-02/news/world-losing-ebola-fight-doctors-group-6437109760/ |

Nigeria has been full of doo doo for awhile now. This seems to contradict their announcement of having full containment by Sept 6th, which was a joke to begin with. Time for those folk to duck for cover.

Something is not right. They keep telling us not to worry, that it won't spread to the US or other countries, yet it continues to spread throughout Africa. Is it just that no one cares to contain it? I don't get it. I don't understand the lack of compassion or is it the fear of the virus?
With every day that goes by that nothing is truly done, it seems we put more and more people at risk, and why does the US and other countries think they are immune?
What's up? I'm sort of wondering about this "depopulation conspiracy theory" and how true it may possibly be. Something just doesn't add up when you start putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Health officials say not to worry, yet the count grows and is expected to grow astronomically if nothing is done.. WTF???

I am beginning to think they realize they cannot stop it, that is what you are feeling.....or what "just does not feel right"
Panic is worse than the disease, it is a long standing truism amongst military/ government disaster planning. |

Over the next 30 days or so, this thing will get real interesting.
We might go to level 5 around Oct 1st, depending on the numbers, and barring it hasn't already left Africa before then. Flu season is a little concerning not only for the unease and possible early panic, because it will also then be able to arrive undetected. Panic in the air and on flights with flu patients coming from Africa will have a lot of interesting effects across the board. |

I'm not worried about Ebola in Africa. The disease, I predict, will remain primarily in Africa and will not spread significantly to any nation outside Africa.
Nothing good comes from Africa. Fatal diseases, primitive/backward people, dangerous animals/insects, civil wars and savages. No...not a good place to be. I say let Ebola burn itself out in Africa. If necessary, ban all flights to/from infected countries, and even to most of Africa itself, if Ebola cannot be contained to the few countries it's in now. Health authorities don't seem to be able to stop Ebola, so instead, they should focus on containment within Africa. * I'm "inthesticks" and I approved this message. |

I completely agree inthesticks. It's about the only option. Containing it to Africa could also be difficult with regard to preventing it from eventually going into Asia. It could march across Africa and straight into Asia with very little air travel as it's currently doing. Like a wave. At that point they will also have to seal off Asia, which would be impossible. Suspend flights and seal borders - and make an attempt to burn itself out. The WHO for some reason is not big on them sealing borders. It must be so they can move their personnel from region to region via commercial flights still. I suppose it's cheaper for the WHO to do it that way. They need to control/stop travel to control/stop the spread.
The WHO should just stick to giving case counts if that's all they can do, of which we haven't had in a week. |

I agree, Albert - Asia, or the war zones and refugee camps of the Middle East. Let's see ISIS deal with that one.

NATO is forming a coalition to take out Isis for what they did. As they say at soldier field- "Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of liberty. - JFK
Isis needs to prepare. |

"ISIS"...sounds like a drink from McDonalds. I didn't know those guys love the English language so much that they would name their group with English words. How 'bout "al Kol Khara" instead. Sounds a little more appropriate to me.
