Okay - while they have been predicting an 8.0 or more for almost 3 years - here are the fault lines. Several people have told me to leave California and these were not psychics, these were Seismologists.

Medclinician - current as of 14:05 p.m. PST  Wednesday October 21 - note some quakes have occurred in the last hour. - see red - the last day part is a bit disturbing
note there are 1000 earthquakes on this map - this map is dynamic and now less quakes are reported - interesting.

I know earthquakes are a problem for the west coast even big quakes...   I however challenged you on a specific claim, Who is calling for a 10+

A magnitude 10 would be at least 10X stronger than a 9.... and a 9 would be extremely unlikely anywhere in California.    The big threat is an 8-8.3 along the San Andreas somewhere or a 7 or greater directly under downtown LA.

the Cascadia fault is "overdue" for a megqquake  (Oregon area)

but the strongest estimated is at a 9.2,as far as I can find

http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2012/12/15/national/magnitude-10-temblor-could-happen-study/#.VikAjvnhDIV

It is theoretically possible that the world could see a quake with a magnitude of around 10, a researcher at Tohoku University told the government’s Coordinating Committee for Earthquake Prediction, Japan.

The energy of such an earthquake would be 30 times greater than the magnitude 9.0 quake that hit the northeast on March 11, 2011.

“The estimate does not mean that a magnitude 10 quake will inevitably happen,” said Toru Matsuzawa, a professor at the university’s Research Center for Prediction of Earthquakes and Volcanic Eruptions. “If it happens, it would take place around once every 10,000 years.”

A magnitude 10.0 quake could occur if the combined 3,000 km of faults from the Japan Trench to the Kuril-Kamchatka Trench move by 60 meters, Matsuzawa said.

No magnitude 10 earthquake has ever been observed. The most powerful quake ever recorded was a magnitude 9.5 temblor in Chile in 1960.

A magnitude 10 quake would likely cause ground motions for up to an hour, with tsunami hitting while the shaking was still going on, according to the research. Tsunami would continue for several days, causing damage to several Pacific Rim nations.

Same story on ZeroHedge http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-10-28/record-swarm-california-earthquakes-continues-series-unusual-events-began-late-septe

Mount Diablo is the location of these swarms, and yes - Mount Diablo is indeed a volcano.

Ironic they leave out that little bit of information.

These "swarms" actually happen on a somewhat regular basis.

From Dutchsinse Facebook:

Past 24 hours of earthquakes M2.5 and greater show a total silencing off along the West coast of the USA -- a major swarm has broke out mid-plate at the Oklahoma / Kansas fracking operations -- and a large swarm developed off the SW coast of Alaska near Atka Volcano.

The "silence" on the West coast is not good (in my opinion).

Was watching this past week for a single larger event to strike the West coast -- instead a cluster of M4.0+ earthquakes struck the region we were watching... Gorda Escarpment (North California) and Arizona (Southwest United States).

In total, this past week there were four different M4.0+ events from California to Oklahoma -- now the silencing off while the unrest continues internationally around the Pacific.

It is NOT normal to see ZERO greater than M2.5 earthquakes in a whole day on the West coast. Normally we would expect to see several smaller M2.5 type earthquakes across California, Oregon, and Washington state -- instead we see nothing.

To me, this "nothing" is a sign of building pressure. Maybe I need to give it a couple more days than the 7 days I was watching for. It would be wise to keep watch since several of the other areas were hit this past week.

Only 2 of the areas named to be hit with large movement were not hit. Those two locations were the Pacific Northwest USA, and Siberia Russia.

All the other named areas were hit by either swarms or large earthquakes (or both!).

Three different M4.0+ earthquakes in the Midwest United States, and renewed activity along the whole edge of the craton / plate, all the way to the East coast.

Three new eruptions this past week, one in Chile at Lascar volcano, one in Indonesia at Rinjani Volcano, and one in Guatemala at Fuego Volcano.

Six different M6.0 or greater earthquakes this past week ... 1 event at the Papua New Guinea / Indonesia border... 2 events in Indonesia near the E. India border.. 2 events in Chile near the Peru / Boliva border... and 1 event in Alaska near Atka Volcano.

____

Mike Swaja Just slam the west coast already, I'm tired of thinking about it & fearing it..
14 · 1 uur

Dutchsinse agreed at this point, can we just get it over with -- but let's hope for it to be smaller and far away from most people.

Quite frankly, I'm shocked only the swarm of M4.0's struck across the whole region.

850 miles from Gorda Escarpment to Arizona .. hit by M4.0's... another 850 miles from Arizona to the Oklahoma M4.0+ swarm location.

In total, an area of nearly 1,600 miles moved on a M4.0+ level this past week -- nothing large YET means something is coming... I'm also shocked that the Pacific Northwest hasn't seen any activity at all over the past 7 days out to sea.

Maybe the people handling the data are losing the data.. how could nothing strike?! Hmm..

Gepubliceerd op 17 nov. 2015 (Dutchsinse)

The new global earthquake forecast covers the areas of the United States, the Pacific Plate (West and East), Asia, Central + South America, and Europe.

All sources shown in the video can be found here at these sites:

_____

Multiple large earthquakes have occurred since the last earthquake forecast was issued on November 1, 2015. See the previous earthquake forecast here , compare to the movement which struck over the past 14 days!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5tsR...

______

Europe was struck by the largest earthquake in several years time -- a noteworthy M6.5 struck West Greece today (November 17 2015). Full post here:

http://dutchsinse.com/11172015-large-...
______

Over 15 different M6.0+ earthquakes have occurred in the past 30 days, two of which were in the mid-M7.0 range, multiple moderate earthquakes occurred on the West coast of the United States (California / Gorda Escarpment + Mexicali), as well as Arizona being struck by multiple M4.0+ earthquakes.

Oklahoma has now become the most active seismic area on the planet, surpassing areas like California, and the West Pacific by number of separate seismic events.

Read the post on Oklahoma becoming the most active region on the planet here:

https://www.facebook.com/DutchsinseOf...

The fracking earthquake problem was DENIED in 2010, 2011, and 2012 by many "professionals", that was the time when something could have been done to avert this "super-fracture" which has occurred in Oklahoma.

The super-fracture occurred at the fracking / oil / gas pumping operations over the course of several months in late 2010 , early 2011. At the time when I reported the events, I was called a "conspiracy theorist" for saying fracking was causing earthquakes. (SMH and a real life facepalm at the denials then).

Super-fractures can be classified as earthquakes which occur at a pumping operation due to natural stressing coming from outside sources along the edge of the plate ..... the "natural" earthquake causes a large seismic event at the drilling / pumping operations (which are weak points in the crust).

Read more on superfractures here:

http://dutchsinse.com/6202015-super-f...

After the large "natural" earthquake strikes the man made oil + gas prone weak spot, this causes a major shakeup of other nearby gas / oil wells. The other wells are then "fractured" along their casements in the bedrock, which releases new fluids under pressure, and volumes of gas under pressure into the actual bedrock / crust.

The escaping high pressure fluids, and high pressure gas then cause NEW EARTHQUAKES in a domino effect at other nearby fracking wells...

Thus, the "super-fracture" begins, once one well causes the other wells to fail , the other wells cause additional large earthquakes which then ultimately fracture more nearby wells.

As the super-fracture spreads SO DO THE EARTHQUAKES (capital letters for emphasis).

The magnitudes of the earthquakes in Oklahoma will increase in size, and in number / frequency. We will see a buildup into a large event going above M5.0 for sure.. The time frame on the M5.0+ activity should be weeks to months , possibly even less.

Just like in 2011, when a series of M5.0+ earthquakes struck the fracking operations in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Colorado - now here in 2015 we're seeing a repeat of unrest globally -- and renewed swarms at the Oklahoma fracking operations --- this means we need to be on watch for a new round of larger events to strike.Larger than the current mid-M4.0 activity currently striking Oklahoma.

-Since the weakspot in Oklahoma is in between the New Madrid and Pacific "pressure zones" this area could become a "vent" for pressure from both sides resulting in a "very major" earthquake. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1811%E2%80%9312_New_Madrid_earthquakes

We only have limited data from earthquakes but wath we do know should give us already a very strong warning not to take to much risks in cracking up the earthscrust !

-The Lake Toba-Sumatra(Indonesia) supervolcano also deserves attention. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Toba and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toba_catastrophe_theory

-Melting of landice, melting of seaice giving way to glacier sliding into the ocean in Antarctica and Greenland means that the distribution of pressure on the earthscrust has changed and will increase faster. Also the warming of the ocean, heating up the oceanfloor releasing methane is increasing the risk of major earthquakes.

Oklahoma has become the most seismic active area in the world. It is in between the New Madrid faultline and the pacific faultlines. Fracking may have turned Oklahoma into a "weak spot" were all the seismic tensions seem to accumulate. As long as it is releaved in a swarm of (increasing in strenght) smaller quakes it is a "worry". But the patern, tendency, is that Oklahoma will get (much) worse.

In reactions to the USGS claim that thr latest bigger quake could be downgraded from 5.7 to 4.7 (still strong) people have serious doubts in trusting the USGS. It would be wise when the US would slow down fracking.

The US has created a weak spot in Oklahoma by fracking. That weak spot will become the focus point of major earthquakes.

From facebook Dutchsinse: Now some officials are concerned that the Oklahoma fracking earthquakes might be a NATIONAL SECURITY issue.

As we warned in the past, this problem was DENIED by professionals until it was far too late... the "super fracture" has caused other wells to fracture, it is only a matter of time before larger earthquakes spread out and strike again.

Like dominoes... the super-fracture sets the wells into motion... each time a new larger earthquake strikes, ADDITIONAL wells have casement fractures, which then releases more high pressure fluid, and gas...

The cycle will carry on for the forseeable future, and the magnitudes will increase exponentially larger -- now seeing MULTIPLE M5.0 (upper M4.0) events strike every few days.

This used to happen with M2.0 to M3.0 events.. now progressed up to M4.0 - M5.0 events.

The next step up will take us into major damage territory... the next step is coming in the next few months.

They still haven't closed all the wells, or even cut back across the whole state ! Only closing nearby wells, and not really cutting anything back.

I suggest cutting EVERY well across the state to 1/2 current capacity , close all wells not producing much, and stop all new well development across the state for at least 2 years.

Instead of doing what I suggested in the past.. they ignored the problem, and called me a "conspiracy theorist" while they denied that fracking could cause earthquakes. That was Oklahoma officials in 2010 and 2011. Then in 2011 - 2012 the superfracture happened, and the rest is history.

Is it a National Security issue? Yes. Will a large earthquake strike in the next year or two. Yes.

Will the people who denied the problem, the professionals and paid pets of the industry who trolled me on social media be arrested for causing a national security issue? Not likely.

Overall, all Oklahoma can do at this point is to cut back operations majorly, and stop drilling immediately -- maybe they can stop the super-fracture like Arkansas did back in 2011. The way to stop the spreading super-fracture is to stop drilling, and reduce hydraulic pressure.

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

that will get you laughing so hard you'll wet yourselfLOL

they got it
and now they'll pay the consequences of their bad decision

The large companies take the money and run. They have no "national state" only self-interest. It is the "99,9%" that is paying the price.

If Oklahoma is indeed such a weak spot due to fracking pressure from the Pacific and New Madrid faultlines could find their way to release that pressure in Oklahoma/central US. Fracking may have caused structural damage in a geological way.

http://dutchsinse.com/12122015-24-hr-earthquake-progression-across-over-6600-miles-of-the-west-pacific-japan-at-center/

The earthquake forecast video issued for this week covered the area of the West Pacific, specifically calling for large earthquakes to strike two regions — one region named was the area around Papua New Guinea / SE Indonesia (which was hit by a M7.0 earthquake a few days ago), the other location in the West Pacific which was named out to watch for larger movement was Japan.

Japan is now showing noticeable movement on all sides.

My fellow Dutchman Frank Hoogerbeets is also active. If he is correct most of the time he could be "interesting" eventhough the bases for his "information" is "paranormal".

Thank you OHC !

If there is a way of predicting earthquakes (or any other major live threats) it might be possible to save many lives.

Break through's in science can be made by individuals with good idea's. "Traditional science" can be sticking to old ideas that may not be totally correct. So "you can make a difference" is something I would like to believe in.

Dutchsinse gave a strong warning for Japan that was incorrect. So far no explanation on what went wrong.

Dutch Frank is copying a lot from Dutchsinse in his presentations. They both proof that predicting earthquakes still is very difficult.

4.3 preliminary magnitude EQ with epicenter 2 miles from Devore, CA (Southern CA).
Felt in Inland Empire (Where I used to live), Northern Orange County (Where I currently live), and Los Angeles County. My TV shook so I need to find something to secure it with.

Here's something for those in the Pacific Northwest to ponder, although I'm sure a lot of them already know about the Cascadia subduction zone. Or at least, I hope they do.

http://dutchsinse.com/12292015-southern-california-struck-m4-6-m4-4-earthquake-hits-after-canv-dormant-volcanoes-move/

A lot of movement (as far as I know above average) in a widespread area (both US and global-from west pacific-Nepal-west Asia to south of Europe). Dutchsinse is quite often correct in his "forecasts". He now expects pacific north west to have movement M4-M5-range (within 48 hrs, proberbly still in 2015) and for California "larger" (but when ?). I think he is also correct in his Oklahoma-escalation scenario; stronger frequent quakes M4+.

As a reminder; measurements of earthquakes go back-at best-just over a 100 years. Older stories give some info about earlier (major) quakes (like the Cascadia-1700 M8.7/9.2 quake). Geologist are able to tell a little about subductions, groundlayers/stratification but that "book is not always good to read" can give just some indications.

Earthquakes go back hundreds of millions of years. The chances for "strong" quakes are for that reason "hard to tell". Geologists want to keep on the "safe side" with their calculations. Earth-structures can give some information.

The M9+ quake in Japan 2011 was not expected. Geologists since that time have found out that geological structures would enable a M11 quake  (for the Japan-region). Of course the question remains when ?

People have a tendency to think what they see during their lifetime as "the normal" but earth-history tells that there is not such a thing as "normal".

http://dutchsinse.com/12302015-washington-state-struck-seattle-vancouver-m4-9-m4-8-earthquake-west-coast-unrest-obvious/ Dutchsinse was wondering why it was quiet in the West Pacific on his Facebook-page-followed by several M4/5 quakes in that region. He was also correct in his expectations for the Pacific North West. From his facebook:do you think there will be more activity on the west coast?

Dutchsinse I just put out a video on my youtube channel covering this topic. Yes... more is coming. Also more in the Western Mountain region, Midwest, and possibly even along the EAST COAST

Oklahoma was hit by two quakes, 4.7 and 4.8 fracking related. As Dutchsinse points out, pressure from the Pacific West moving eastward-via Oklahoma-to the US/Canada east coast. More movement is to be expected. http://dutchsinse.com/1062016-large-m4-8-m4-9-earthquake-strikes-oklahoma-fracking-operation/ (Yesterday California had a 4.4-this earthquake pattern started before the H-bomb-testing by North Korea, it is not easy to proof if that test did worsen the global earthquake risk.)

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-01-11/massive-earthquake-inevitable-oklahoma

When Americans speak of “the big one,” they’re talking about the potential for a super-massive earthquake that could essentially destroy most of quake-prone California. Now some scientists believe something similar could happen in the once geologically placid Oklahoma.

Oklahoma was shaken late Wednesday night by two of the strongest earthquakes to hit the state in recent years, the latest in a series of temblors that many researchers believe are caused by the burial of wastes from oil and gas drilling in the state.

Oklahoma now has more earthquakes than any other place in the world. Caused by waste water from fracking.

Do you have a source for that?     I know I have discussed this exact topic before here but...    All the info I have read says even a magnitude 10 is probably not possible.

Even a magnitude 10 is unfathomably strong.   It is exponentially bigger than what Japan felt.

I am sure the earth could produce enough energy to create an earthquake that was 10+, however for an earthquake to occur, the rocks have to first store the energy.   It is very difficult to imagine how those rocks could store enough energy for a 10.    Perhaps, a massive super volcano, or maybe  an asteroid impact could do it though.

Deep Thinker among much more:

In a longer period (+100.000 years) we may have had M10+ events. Our knowledge about such seismic mega-quakes is very limited. But you have to have a "geological setting" (the right geo-conditions) for such a quake. I think also a super-volcano-in a worst case scenario-could trigger a M10+ event.

Dutch Josh thank you for your reply!   Those links debate if a mag10 earthquake is possible.    They basically say it is theoretically possible however in the real world it would be extremely unlikely.

However my issue with your post is the mention of a mag 11.    Scientists aren't even sure if a 10 is possible and you are talking about something 32 times stronger.

A 10 would probably be at least  a foot off this scale.    An 11 would be unimaginable.

Deep Thinker, I agree with you that a magnitude 11 quake on the Richterscale almost seems impossible. However https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cretaceous%E2%80%93Paleogene_extinction_event history may give some indications that "almost impossible" still could be possible.

Earth survived the Yucatan-meteorite strike with a magnitude M12. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicxulub_crater. When you accept the long time Earth exists than the chances of a once in a 1.000.000.000 years event is still a chance.

Maybe I am just a bit to particular about how I word things.    When I think "earthquake" what I think of is movment along tectonic plates.   What you are talking about is other natural processes.   I would just call them a "super volcano" or a asteroid strike instead of earthquake.

Yes I admit... a m10 earthquake is not the biggest naturally calamity we could face.... however any event bigger than that would be extremely unlikely to be an earthquake the way most people would think of an earthquake.   I am just asking for accuracy in language sorry for any misunderstanding.

Deep Thinker, I do understand what you are discussing. I think the maximum movement along tectonic plates could give-once in a million years or so- a magnitude 11 quake. Extremely rare but not impossible.

I did read somewere that the maximum "magnitude"earth could deal with was a magnitude 15 (even though I can not imagine what that would look like). "Super"volcanos themselves would not create a very high magnitude. But a very strong quake could cause and worsen by a super-volcano erupting.

But I have a background in history (why the Roman Empire collapsed etc.) not in geology.

http://earthquaketrack.com/p/united-states/california/recent

Have lived in California most of my life and we were nearly on the fault line and when the quake hit it was so bad we tried to get out of the house and could not even stand up it was shaking so bad.  Of course people have been going on for years that the "Big One" is coming. After, seeing all the water from my pool hurl in the air and all the cats and dogs run for the hills, one cannot describe how you feel when the earth is wrong and your dishes, shelves, and everything is literally flying through the air.

There has been a lot of activity - and perhaps a person dear to me who said "I would rather try to survive a tornado in a ditch than experience one of your earthquakes" was right.

It could happen in other states besides California- Washington and Oregon. We worry about some extremist setting off a bomb that may destroy a building - this would make that look like a firecracker.

You should prepare for this. It is likely it will come not if- but when.

The most deadliest earthquakes had a magnitude between 7 and 8 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_earthquakes#Deadliest_earthquakes_on_record

A m10 would :"An unusually long subduction zone, like the Peru-Chile Trench, Aleutian Trench, or Japan-Kamchatka Trench would have to rupture in its entirety to trigger one. In other words, it would have to be a quake that hits Russia and Japan at the same time, or a quake that hits Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Chile all at the same time, etc.

Also, a Moment Magnitude 10 earthquake won't necessarily feel much different in terms of how far buildings move from, say, an 8 or 9. The shaking, however, would last for much longer ― about 30 minutes ― and be spread over a much larger area. And then, of course, there's the tsunami, which could hit land while the shaking is still going on, greatly adding to the damage such a quake could cause." (from http://earthscience.stackexchange.com/questions/875/are-richter-magnitude-10-earthquakes-possible)

In theory movement at multiple subductionzones at the same time could create a M11. But there is not enough historical data for (large) earthquakes since measuring quakes is only a 100 years old. The rest of knowledge is based on historybooks etc.

n ocean data buoy is alerting to an "event" in the Cascadia Subduction Zone off the west coast of Oregon. This is where a magnitude 9 earthquake hit in 1700.

According to the data buoy, the water column height (depth) fell sharply within minutes off the coast of Oregon, signaling the land beneath the ocean has suddenly "sunk."   Here are the graphs showing what the ocean data buoy recorded:

According to the US Geological Survey, the following THIRTY-EIGHT small earthquakes took place today around Johannesburg, CA:

Cuba had 4 quakes:

  1. 5.144km SSW of El Cobre, Cuba2016-01-17 08:30:24 UTC10.0 km
  2. 5.129km SSW of El Cobre, Cuba2016-01-17 08:17:35 UTC10.0 km
