This truly shows what a misleading organization the WHO really is.  Of course we know the truth since we've been following this, but when you look below where they state all infections have taken place ONLY in hospitals, well that lie really stands out.  The recent 10-year old child case was clearly non-hospital related as she got it at home from her father, and yesterday the ambulance driver was infected who transported another patient.  There have also been additional similar reports.   The WHO has been accused of downplaying these situations before, and they are once again up to their old tricks.

S. Korea, WHO experts downplay pandemic potential of MERS

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Experts from the World Health Organization and South Korea on Saturday downplayed concerns about the MERS virus spreading further within the country, which recorded its 14th fatality and 12 new infections, but said that it was premature to declare the outbreak over.

After a weeklong review of the outbreak, the panel of experts told a news conference that there was no evidence to suggest the virus is spreading in the community. The outbreak in South Korea has so far been occurring only in hospitals, among patients, family members who visited them and medical staff treating them.

The virus has spread at a pattern similar to previous outbreaks in the Middle East, and the sequencing studies of samples from South Korea show no signs that the virus has increased its ability to transmit between humans, said WHO Assistant Director Keiji Fukuda.

While the infections seem to be stagnating, the South Korean government must continue to maintain strong control measures, such as closely monitoring suspected patients and preventing them from traveling, because it's still early to declare the situation over, he added.

Fukuda said that overcrowded emergency rooms and hospital wards might have contributed to a wider-than-expected transmission of the virus that usually spreads poorly between people. South Korea's habits of "doctor shopping" — visiting multiple facilities to treat the same infection — and the custom of having many friends and family members visiting hospitalized patients might have also facilitated the spread, he said.

Fourteen people have died and nearly 140 have been diagnosed — including 12 new infections Saturday — with Middle East respiratory syndrome since last month in the largest outbreak outside Saudi Arabia. About 2,900 schools and kindergartens were closed and 3,680 people were isolated as of Friday after possible contacts with those infected.

Two hospitals, including one in Seoul considered as the main source of the outbreak, also were temporarily closed after MERS patients were found to have had contact with hundreds of people at the two facilities before they were diagnosed.

Experts think MERS can spread in respiratory droplets, such as by coughing. But transmissions have mainly occurred through close contact, such as living with or caring for an infected person.

MERS has a death rate of about 40 percent among reported cases. It belongs to the family of coronaviruses that includes the common cold and SARS, and can cause fever, breathing problems, pneumonia and kidney failure. Most of the deaths in South Korea have been of people suffering from pre-existing medical conditions, such as respiratory problems or cancer.

DR Margaret Chan

The cover up Queen. Or is this just a coincidence....

Dr Margaret Chan
Dr Margaret Chan is the Director-General of WHO, appointed by the World Health Assembly on 9 November 2006

Margaret Chan versus Amnesty International
Posted on July 19, 2010 by monotreme1000
In previous blogs I have discussed the conflict between Margaret Chan, Director General of the WHO, and Amnesty International on the state of public health in North Korea.

In response to reporters questions about starvation in North Korea, Margaret Chan responded:

"…one thing I recognized is that walking is quite well observed in that country, and I suggest that is why I didn’t see many obese people."

This bizarre statement invites the obvious question: What is Margaret Chan’s motive for providing aid and comfort to the North Korean government?

Many reporters and casual observers assume that Margaret Chan is a disinterested physician/scientist who was named Director-General of the most important public health organisation as a result of her superior qualifications.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

In 2003, Margaret Chan was head of the Department of Health in Hong Kong during the SARS outbreak. During this disaster, she was accused of deferring so much to the sensitivities of the Chinese government that she misled the public in Hong Kong regarding the dangers of the virus. Many family members of victims of SARS blamed her personally for the loss of their loved ones. She was officially censured by the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (Legco). Margaret Chan left Hong Kong in disgrace to join the WHO, but the search for justice from outraged citizens of Hong Kong followed her there.

Margaret Chan

Her profile was raised by her handling, in those positions, of the 1997 H5N1 avian influenza outbreak and the 2003 SARS outbreak in Hong Kong. After the first victim of the H5N1, Chan first tried to reassure Hong Kong residents with her infamous statements like, "I ate chicken last night"[7] or "I eat chicken every day, don't panic, everyone".[8][9][10] When many more H5N1 cases appeared, she was criticized for misleading the public. [11] In the end, she was credited for helping bring the epidemic under control by the slaughter of 1.5 million chickens in the region in the face of stiff political opposition.[12]

Her performance during the SARS outbreak, which ultimately led to 299 deaths, attracted harsh criticism from the Legislative Council of Hong Kong and many SARS victims and their relatives.[10] She was criticised by the Legislative Council for her passiveness,[13] for believing in misleading information shared by the mainland authority, and did not act swiftly.[14] On the other hand, the SARS expert committee established by the Hong Kong Government to assess its handling of the crisis, opined that the failure was not Chan's fault, but due to the structure of Hong Kong's health care system, in which the separation of the hospital authority from the public health authority resulted in problems with data sharing.[15]

Well, the way they are down playing this situation, and misleading the public regarding all infections have taken place within the hospitals, seems to indicate the WHO's history of misleading is back once again.

We just simply call them as we see them around here. Nothing more nothing less.

Maybe she could be excused for pleading ignorant once or even twice, but this is beyond a joke.

Its something akin to hiring someone to look after a bank after seeing they robbed banks for a living. Here's the keys....

In 2012 when MERS emerged in the Middle East, it was "a threat to the entire world", per Chan. Now that it's in South Korea, cases have peaked and time to reopen schools.

They're also concealing that change in climate and temperature is adding to the spread in South Korea, and they're concealing what will happen when winter arrives.

It's probably because they finally have some money in the bank again, and don't feel too enclined to put their hands in their pockets unless they absolutely have to. So now MERS has magically transformed from a global threat when it wasn't spreading in the KSA, to no big deal in a wider South Korean outbreak. Political machinations at work - as always.

Now it sounds like the WHO is pointing fingers at South Korea before they're blamed for this situation that is spiraling out of control.   They probably know it's going to get worse and are now casting blame early.   South Korea hides info and misleads, and the WHO downplays situations.  Good teamwork..

SEOUL, South Korea — The South Korean government’s failure to share information quickly with the public and establish an efficient disease-control system contributed to worsening the outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome in the country, a joint panel of experts from the World Health Organization and South Korea said Saturday.

The experts have spent the past week visiting hospitals and meeting with health authorities to assess the outbreak, which has killed 14 people, and make recommendations.

“One of the things South Korea failed to do was a transparent and rapid distribution of information, which is the most important thing to do,” said Lee Jong-koo, the leader of the South Korean side of the joint mission, at a news conference Saturday.

A “failure to establish proper governance” in controlling the outbreak in its early stages also contributed to “confusion” among the public, Mr. Lee said.

The disease, known as MERS, is known to have infected 138 people in South Korea since the first patient was identified on May 20. The outbreak is the largest to date outside the Middle East, where the virus first emerged in 2012 in Saudi Arabia and has killed more than 400 people.

One of the tasks of the joint mission was to determine why so many people were infected in South Korea in a relatively short period of time. On Saturday, Keiji Fukuda, chief World Health Organization official on the panel, pointed to several factors: South Korean doctors’ unfamiliarity with MERS; the country’s “overcrowded” emergency rooms; the practice of “doctor shopping” for care at many different clinics; and the fact that hospital rooms here tend to be bustling with visitors. Nearly all of the country’s confirmed MERS patients were infected while seeking care or while visiting patients at hospitals. Hospital staff members were also infected.

Mr. Fukuda said the panel had found no evidence to indicate that MERS was spreading in the broader population. “However, continued monitoring for this possibility is critical throughout the entire outbreak,” he said. “Now, because the outbreak has been large and is complex, more cases should be anticipated.”

Both Mr. Fukuda and Mr. Lee said that the rate of new infections was decreasing, as South Korean officials have improved their communications with the public and carried out stronger infection-control measures. Twelve new MERS cases were reported Saturday.

The government has come under heavy criticism for withholding critical information early in the outbreak, like the names and locations of hospitals where infections had occurred. It eventually released the hospitals’ names, weeks after the first case was discovered. The outbreak has been a blow to President Park Geun-hye, whose approval rating has fallen in recent weeks.

Mr. Fukuda, who said transparency during an outbreak was “the basis of trust,” urged South Korea to continue to enforce a strong quarantine and monitoring system. He also recommended that the country invest more in its public health system, particularly by hiring more epidemiologists and expanding its laboratories’ capacities.

The World Health Organisation has warned against drinking camel urine as it attempts to limit the latest outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (Mers).

Seven people in South Korea have died as a result of Mers in the latest outbreak, the largest since the syndrome was first detected in the Saudi Arabia in 2012.

Authorities in Seoul confirmed the seventh death, of a 68-year-old woman who had a pre-existing heart condition, on Tuesday. There have been 95 infections and 2,500 people are currently in quarantine in South Korea.

The WHO guidance was issued in response to the infection of a 75-year-old man thousands of miles to the west, in Oman, last week. Mers, caused by a new strain of coronavirus, can affect people and animals, and one theory is that the syndrome started in animals before making the jump to humans.

However, doctors are still not sure how how humans become infected.

The man, who was said to be in a stable condition on a hospital isolation ward after testing positive for Mers on 29 May, was reported by WHO to own "a barn with camels and young calves, and [have] frequent contact with them".

WHO said that those with pre-existing conditions including diabetes, renal failure and chronic lung disease are considered to be at high-risk from MERS.

"General hygiene measures" such as avoiding close contact with animals, especially camels, and hand-washing after coming into contact with animals, should be followed, WHO said.

A statement posted on the WHO website adds: "Food hygiene practices should be observed. People should avoid drinking raw camel milk or camel urine, or eating meat that has not been properly cooked."

More than 1100 infections have been confirmed. The first deaths were recorded in Saudi Arabia in June 2012.

The latest outbreak, in South Korea, has prompted Hong Kong and Macau to warn its citizens against non-essential travel to the country. The first South Korean to become infected was a businessman who visited Saudi Arabia for work.

It might be interesting for you to know when I was logged into WHO on June 11, 2009 and Margaret Chan announced the Pandemic - she was in a 2 hour meeting with "a group" who decided whether it was okay or not for her to declare a Pandemic.

http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/statements/2009/h1n1_pandemic_phase6_20090611/en/

Wars are not the only thing controlled in the world by some sort of group behind the scenes. During the SARS situation I had posted here as ambulances where shuffling patients from hospital to hospital preventing the observers sent in from getting an accurate count of how many people were infected. This was organized and put into place by the government.

The pre-Pandemic-announcement meeting - shows us that money and economy can truly suppress not only the numbers of infections and deaths announced or even counted.

Yet, no amount of under-reporting can truly silence a real Pandemic or epidemic. The real criteria for this being "bodies in the streets."  BTS - just as the Minister of Information stood outside the Baghdad building as the American tanks rode by in back of him and denied everything.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/2003/04/07/iraq-information-minister-denies-baghdad-siege.html

"Be assured Baghdad is safe, secure and great."

"They are sick in their minds. They say they brought 65 tanks into center of city. I say to you this talk is not true. This is part of their sick mind," Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf said. "There is no presence of American infidels in the city of Baghdad at all."

Hitler was not the first nor will he be the last to employ the big lie technique.

comment: There is definitely a potential for a MERS Pandemic - "not if, but when."

It seems to me that step one in every nations ability to fight potential deadly virus/disease is to determine what about your customs and habits that are socially and culturally accepted need to be addressed immediately and shut down. This admitted cultural habit of needing/be required to visit people in hospitals should have been stopped. Ebola was spread partly due to religious customs of the family having to bathe and prepare dead bodies prior to burial. When dealing with a less informed society that has practiced these potentially deadly policies of cultural norms it is one thing. When a society like S. Korea that is westernized enough to understand and fully grasp logically why a custom can not be enforced or expected due to the risk to mankind in general the stopping of the policy should be action number one. Then again, it appears that some of these so called customs may remain in place as built in excuses to be used if needed to explain spread etc. when the truth would be unpalatable. Just my opinion. it astounds me the level of education that people dont have about basic medical practices,

they all seem to know alot about religion/s ,but nothing about how the world or body  works,

i work with a man of 55 who until i told him about viruses , he knew very little ,

he even thought i was lying when explained the grafting method of growing plants......

You can find all sorts of stuff on the Internet....I figured that, if this was even mentioned, it was some cultural trait over there.  Well, you tell me....

1-  The Hadith (narration) by the Prophet:

First let us look at the Sayings (Hadiths) of our beloved Prophet that dealt with camel urine:

Narrated Abu Qilaba: "Anas said, "Some people of 'Ukl or 'Uraina tribe came to Medina and its climate did not suit them. So the Prophet ordered them to go to the herd of (Milch) camels and to drink their milk and urine (as a medicine). So they went as directed and after they became healthy, they killed the shepherd of the Prophet and drove away all the camels. The news reached the Prophet early in the morning and he sent (men) in their pursuit and they were captured and brought at noon. He then ordered to cut their hands and feet (and it was done), and their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron,They were put in 'Al-Harra' and when they asked for water, no water was given to them." Abu Qilaba said, "Those people committed theft and murder, became infidels after embracing Islam and fought against Allah and His Apostle .  (Sahih Bukhari, Ablutions (Wudu'), Volume 1, Book 4, Number 234)"

Well! - I'll be go to hell!!! Who knew!! It's amazing what you can find on the internets!

Islam Question and Answer
General Supervisor: Shaykh Muhammad Saalih al-Munajjid

The benefits of drinking camel urine

I hope that you can provide me with a scientific answer – if such knowledge is available – about the saheeh hadeeth about drinking camel’s urine. May Allaah reward you.

Praise be to Allaah.

The hadeeth referred to by the questioner is a saheeh hadeeth, in which it says that some people came to Madeenah and fell sick. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told them to drink the milk and urine of camels, and they recovered and grew fat. In the story it also says that they apostatized and killed the camel-herder, then the Muslims caught them and executed them. Narrated by al-Bukhaari (2855) and Muslim (1671).

With regard to the health benefits of drinking the milk and urine of camels, they are many, and they are well known to the earlier generations of medical science and they have been proven by modern scientific research.

Ibn al-Qayyim said:

The author of al-Qanoon (the Canon) – i.e. the doctor Ibn Seena (Avicenna) – said:

The most beneficial of urine is the urine of Bedouin camels which are called najeeb. End quote.

Zaad al-Ma’aad (4/47, 48).

In the Emirati newspaper al-Ittihaad (issue no. 11172, Sunday 6 Muharram 1427 AH/5 February 2006) it says:

One of the most important things for which camels are raised is their milk, which is efficacious in treating many illnesses, including hepatitis, and the digestive system in general, various types of cancer and other diseases.

In an article by Dr Ahlaam al-‘Awadi, which was published in al-Da’wah magazine, issue no. 1938, 25 Safar 1425 AH/15 April 2004 CE, about the diseases which can be treated with camel’s milk, as proven by experience, it says that there are many benefits in camel’s milk. There follows some of what was said in the article by Dr. Ahlaam:

Camel’s urine is efficacious in the treatment of skin diseases such as ringworm, tinea and abscesses, sores that may appear on the body and hair, and dry and wet ulcers. Camel’s urine brings the secondary benefits of making the hair lustrous and thick, and removing dandruff from the scalp. Camel’s milk is also beneficial in treating hepatitis, even if it has reached an advanced stage where medicine is unable to treat it. End quote.

In the al-Jazeerah al-Sa’oodiyyah newspaper (issue no. 10132, Rabee’ al-Awwal 1421 AH) there is a quotation from the book Al-Ibl Asraar wa i’jaaz (The camel: secrets and wonders) by Darmaan ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azeez Aal Darmaan and Sanad ibn Mutlaq al-Subay’i:
