Anyway, good news for foreign workers in Florida. Trump’s Palm Beach resort, Mar-a-Lago will be getting 70 new employees.

The Palm Beach Post reported Friday that Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla., won the permission after first applying for the H-2B visas in July. The request was originally filed during Trump’s “Made In America” week at the White House.

I can scream all I like about how inhuman that is, so could anyone of us "social justice warriors", but the Trumpetts are not going to hear that.  They appear to hold dear the principles of "I'm alright Jack", racism and "show me the money"  to the exclusion of all else.  So perhaps this argument will strike a chord:

The potato famine sparked the Irish rebellion.
The Bloody Sunday Massacre sparked the IRA membership of many people including Martin McGuinness
Treating people unfairly makes them angry, you bloody stupid idiots!!!

Do you think this little girl has no relatives; no one who loves or cares for her?  The terrorists you fear so desperately are made this way, they do not randomly appear in the form of innocents seeking help.  They are driven to their deeds of horror by acts of brutality just like this.  People grow old and eventually die, but societies remember indefinitely.  That is why my examples are Irish ones - like me.  That cultural memory means that the ramifications of this act of callous stupidity will reverberate long after the orange tyrant is gone.

It would be nice if people stopped this sort of thing because of their conscience; failing that, if you have none, stop and think of the backlash.

Chomsky: Trump's #1 Goal as President

https://www.alternet.org/chomsky-trumps-1-goal-president

. There, out of the spotlight, the most savage fringe of the Republican Party is carefully advancing policies designed to enrich their true constituency: the Constituency of private power and wealth, “the masters of mankind,” to borrow Adam Smith’s phrase.

These policies will harm the irrelevant general population and devastate future generations, but that’s of little concern to the Republicans. They’ve been trying to push through similarly destructive legislation for years. Paul Ryan, for example, has long been advertising his ideal of virtually eliminating the federal government, apart from service to the Constituency -- though in the past he’s wrapped his proposals in spreadsheets so they would look wonkish to commentators. Now, while attention is focused on Trump’s latest mad doings, the Ryan gang and the executive branch are ramming through legislation and orders that undermine workers’ rights, cripple consumer protections, and severely harm rural communities. They seek to devastate health programs, revoking the taxes that pay for them in order to further enrich their Constituency, and to eviscerate the Dodd-Frank Act, which imposed some much-needed constraints on the predatory financial system that grew during the neoliberal period.

That’s just a sample of how the wrecking ball is being wielded by the newly empowered Republican Party.

Chomsky nails it

Oh yes!  I forgot.  To keep the freeloaders from getting healthcare.

more on Trumps "best ever" tax cut for the middle class

According to estimates by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, households with children earning less than $75,000 would get just a $20 average tax cut in 2027 from the GOP tax framework released in late September, compared to a $200,000 tax cut for households with children earning $1 million or more.  And when Congress turns its attention to paying for those tax cuts, low- and middle-income families would lose far more in health care, food and housing assistance, and educational services that they need to thrive now and in the future.

I've got one word for you

SUCKERS

don't spend that whole twenty in one place now ya hearLOL

The Rethughs in my state pulled the same crap
they cut the income taxes but raised DOZENS of other taxes
the net result was a family of 4 with an income of  $40,000
got a whole $40 dollars back
while the richest families in the state got?
well you know the story by now

Get ready for the Republican push for 'small business' tax cuts for the 1 percent

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/10/17/1707561/-Get-ready-for-the-Republican-push-for-small-business-tax-cuts-for-the-one-percent

Trumps tax cut proposals have been out long enough for some analysis to be done on them

Get ready to hear a lot about “small business” as Republicans try to sell their tax plan. Who doesn’t like small business? It’s your next-door neighbor, it’s the corner store that

bails you out when you just need one thing and don't want to go all the way to the big store, it’s the coffee shop where they know your name, it’s the site you turn to for news, activism, and community. Right?

Yeah, not so much. Sure, those are all small businesses, but they’re not the ones who’d benefit most (or even at all) from Republican plans for a “small business” tax cut. Republicans want a 25 percent tax rate for “pass-through” businesses, where the business pays no taxes because all of the profits pass through to the owners, who pay regular income taxes.  And, according to the Economic Policy Institute:

In fact, 49 percent of all pass-through income goes to just the top 1 percent of households. This makes pass-through income one of the most concentrated-at-the-top income categories in the entire economy. [...]

For example, take a married couple whose small restaurant made them $150,000 in net profits. They will not be helped by this proposal because they’re already paying a 25 percent marginal income tax rate. 86 percent of households with pass-through income already pay 25 percent or less, so will see nothing from this Republican tax plan. The people this pass-through loophole helps wealthy people like President Trump, whose top tax rate on income from more than 500 pass-through businesses would fall from 39.6 to 25 percent.

So when you hear that Republican “small business” refrain, always ask which kind of small business they mean. Your plumber or neighborhood restaurant? Or Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner?

not looking good

just more trickle down peeing on your leg and trying to tell you it is raining

One former official even speculated that Kelly and Secretary of Defense James Mattis have discussed what they would do in the event Trump ordered a nuclear first strike. “Would they tackle him?” the person said.

(Pretty damn scary!  I figured that this conversation has been had amongst the generals (McMaster, Kelley and Mattis).

When Nixon started to crack up, they had to take steps to defuse his attempts to launch nuclear bombers.

Results be damned, Betsy DeVos loves her some online charter schools

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/10/9/1705462/-Results-be-damned-Betsy-DeVos-loves-her-some-online-charter-schools

Betsy DeVos is a big fan—huge fan—of online charter schools, from investing in a virtual charter company in the past to pushing them in her current role as Donald Trump’s education secretary. Because to DeVos, “choice” is the top goal of the education system, rather than, you know, education:

… in Pennsylvania, an early adopter where more than 30,000 kids log into virtual charter schools from home most days, the graduation rate is a dismal 48 percent. Not one virtual charter school meets the state’s “passing” benchmark.

do people realize what Trump is doing to this country ???
happy NOW ???

The 'Trump slump' continues: 700,000 fewer foreign tourists, billions in lost revenue

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/9/21/1700334/-The-Trump-slump-continues-700-000-fewer-foreign-tourists-billions-in-lost-revenue

New figures released by the U.S. Department of Commerce show a drop in international visitors to the United States by close to 700,000 in the first quarter of 2017 compared to the previous year. European countries were down 10.1 percent, and Mexico was off 7.1 percent in the quarter. The largest drops were from the Middle East and Africa, though they represent a much smaller percentage of overall travel to the United States.

Overall, 697,791 fewer foreigners visited the United States in the first three months of the year, down 4.2 percent to 15.8 million. According to Tourism Economics, a branch of Oxford Economics based in Wayne, Pa., that analyzes travel data, the drop represents a loss of nearly $2.7 billion in spending.

HHS Secretary Tom Price constantly flying by charter jet is a 'misuse of taxpayer funding'

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/9/20/1700005/-HHS-Secretary-Tom-Price-constantly-flying-by-charter-jet-is-a-misuse-of-taxpayer-funding

“I think we made it halfway where we ought to, and that is we’ve cut it from eight to four jets. Now we need to cut it from four jets to zero jets. This is just another example of fiscal irresponsibility run amuck in Congress right now … “

Current and former staffers, speaking on the condition of anonymity, say Price has been taking private jets to travel domestically for months.

Ethics experts say the use of private charters by government officials, while legal, is highly dubious and in most cases a misuse of taxpayer funding.

IDSA slams proposed budget cuts to AMR programs

Current and past leaders of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) are taking aim at proposed budget cuts they say could cripple efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

In a letter published yesterday in Annals of Internal Medicine, IDSA treasurer Helen Boucher, MD, past president Barbara Murray, MD, and current president William Powderly, MD, argue that the budget cuts for public health and research proposed by the Trump administration will not only diminish the nation's surveillance capacity and its efforts to reduce infections and promote appropriate antibiotic use, but also undercut US leadership in global efforts to tackle the AMR threat, which is responsible for more than 700,000 deaths each year globally.

"Although the United States has to date been a leader in combating AMR, our international status on this issue as well as the safety of patients here and elsewhere will be seriously threatened if funding is reduced," the trio writes.

The president's FY18 budget, released in May, proposed a $22.7 million (14%) cut to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) Antibiotic Resistance Solutions Initiative (ARSI), which funds statewide efforts to detect and track resistance threats. It also seeks to move ARSI's funding source to the Prevention and Public Health Fund, which itself has been threatened by Congressional bills aimed at repealing the Affordable Care Act.

The budget would also cut $1.1 billion (23%) from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), which funds research into badly needed new antimicrobials, and $1.6 billion (51%) from the global health programs of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), including a $62.6 million (26%) cut to USAID's global tuberculosis program. The authors write that the USAID cuts, combined with proposed cuts to the CDC's global health security efforts, "would substantially reduce U.S. support for global surveillance, laboratory capacity, and coordination, thus increasing the risk for deadly multidrug-resistant pathogens spreading across borders undetected."

Cuts could derail AMR efforts

As the letter explains, the cuts would be a significant drop from the increased financial support for AMR efforts in recent years. The $379 million provided by Congress in 2016 for AMR activities at several federal agencies nearly doubled what the government had been investing in the fight against drug-resistant bacteria.

That funding has enabled the CDC to boost surveillance and detection capacity at state and local health departments, helped US hospitals enhance infection prevention networks and antibiotic stewardship programs, supported NIAID's efforts to better understand how resistance develops and spreads, and boosted programs for developing new antibiotics and rapid diagnostics at the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA).

These efforts, the authors write, would be "at grave risk" if the proposed budget cuts are passed, placing hospital patients in danger and threatening the US role as a leader in international efforts to respond to AMR.

"Given the severity of the threat posed by AMR, and the United States' position as a world leader traditionally at the forefront of global progress, we believe that we must reaffirm our investment in research and public health efforts to combat this threat," they write.

The Trump administration's proposed cuts to public health programs and biomedical research have been widely criticized by health advocacy and public health professional groups since they were released in May. Lawmakers from both parties have indicated that many of the proposed cuts are unlikely to be part of the final version of the budget.

This is a real from the heart video. This is not propaganda. And for your information Hitler was not a Fascist. Talk about ignorance. In fact the same flags and group today Antifa was like one Hitler led who hated fascists.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/18/us/unmasking-antifa-anti-fascists-hard-left/index.html

Trump specifically stated that he condemned Nazis and Fascists and the media has ignored what he said completely. His statement that the violence and hated of the other side which came out in mass and was even more violent were as much to blame to the violence is totally correct.

This is not a fight against racism. It is an effort for the Democrats to regain power after a lost election by calling everyone racist.

The basis of Social Justice Warriors is "no basis in fact for most of what is being said."  Trump was not allied with Russia. He is not crazy. And he is not a racist.  Currently he is trying to deal with the flooding in Texas because of Hurricane Harvey and doing a way better job than Obama ever did. His handling of Katrina was a disaster and people were dying with no help for days. Trump is headed to Texas and has pledged 100% of the people who are suffering and victims of this tragedy.

I was not a Trump supporter. I did not vote for Trump. But I feel as this many does in the video. Free Speech is something worth fighting for whether you agree with people are not.

My fear was when Trump did not come into office we would have Hillary the outlaw, pay for play, and huge risk to our national security and nation. Thank God she did not make it.

Comment: Talk about fake news!!

Viral photo of Antifa member 'beating up police officer
is fake

A widely-shared image that appears to show an anti-fascist protester beating a police officer has been revealed to be fake.

The image, which shows a man in an “Antifascist Action” jacket beating a fallen police officer, was shared widely after a white supremacist rally in Virginia turned violent. People shared the photo as evidence that “many sides” were to blame for the violence, as President Donald Trump had suggested.

“Today's @NYTimes front-page portrays the violent Antifa thugs as noble, & willing to ‘defend’ themselves. THAT is #Fakenews. And despicable,” one popular radio host wrote on Twitter, alongside a copy of the photo.

The photo, however, is not from last weekend’s rally, but from a demonstration in Athens, Greece in 2009. In the original photo – which is available on Getty Images – there is no anti-fascist logo on the man’s jacket.

The description for the photo reads, in part: “Greek youths clash with riot police during a demonstration commemorating the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Alexandros Grigoropoulos’ by police a year ago.”

Accusations against the anti-fascist movement (or “antifa,”) and the so-called “alt-left” flew after the Charlottesville rally, where dozens of people were injured and one died in clashes between white supremacists and counter-protesters.

Mr Trump himself toed this line, in a free-wheeling press conference on Tuesday.
“What about the alt-left that came charging at the, as you say, the alt-right? Do they have any semblance of guilt?” he asked. “What about the fact that they came charging with clubs in their hands, swinging clubs? Do they have any problem? I think they do.”

Protesters on both the left and right have admitted to being armed at the rally, and to occasionally resorting to violence. Reporters on the ground described a heated back-and-forth between both groups.

The man accused of hitting and killing a counter-protester with his car, however, is said to be a white nationalist and Nazi sympathiser. (Right-wing websites have claimed, with no evidence, that he is a “a supporter of Hillary Clinton and member of Antifa in receipt of funding by George Soros”.)

According to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), right-wing extremists in the US have been responsible for significantly more deaths in the last 10 years than those on the far left.

The organisation reports that domestic extremists killed at least 372 people in the US in the last decade. Approximately 74 per cent of those deaths were at the hands of right-wing extremists, compared to six per cent at the hands of left-wing extremists.

But ADL’s Marilyn Mayo told Snopes that both sides could be incited to violence in today’s polarised political climate.

“You have an escalation of rhetoric and you have people who are willing to fight it out in the streets,” she said. “With this political polarisation in the country right now, you have people who come dressed for battle, and when they confront each other it can lead to violence.”

A new pond of scum, but the same bucket, Med.  The far left (who are savage dangerous loonies - just like the far right) probably think they are saving America.  Neither will, only the Unity that Trump is helping to destroy can do that.  Two wrongs do not make a right.

it would be possible to dig out lots of counter videos to show the far right causing trouble to match this one, but I chose to put my bucket down.

Is this who you are speaking for as they try to start a revolution in the U.S. and destroy our government, assassinate law enforcement, and destroy all concepts of free speech?

This is what all of this hating is coming to and the real fear is the Social Justice Warriors arming themselves and Senators suggesting the president be assassinated. This is treason. This is not what the United States represents and no one is coming up with realistic plans or ideas on how to improve the situation. All there is, is hate - violence and anarchy.

This is not a fun discussion.  People will die and the enemies of America are very happy to see this division and fighting.

Chuck,
I'm a Western Democrat. I too believe in gun rights (I probably own more guns than most Republicans!). I also believe in water and land rights (I'm against eminent domain as it exists)! And don't touch my parents Social Security or Medicare! As far as corporate taxes, lower the overall % but make them all pay it! I don't mind paying taxes as long as the system is fair. We need good roads, bridges, health departments, etc! I think you are right about President Trump, if he lasts four years he will go down in history as the worst one term president ever!

"This too will pass"!

I would like to second that! Bless the Aussies and all the Commonwealth! We've shed to much blood together not to stand together! I just hope the "Madman" doesn't drag us all into a needless conflict!

Thanks, Arirish!  I have a feeling that Pres. Trump will be a pimple on the backside of American history.

Mind you, I am sympathetic with some of the stated goals of Republicans like lower corporate taxes and protection of gun rights, but I don't support the stupid causes like "Wall With Mexico" etc.

We shall survive this period in history, and hopefully learn and grow.

Thanks!  When the US flag was spotted on Iwo Jima, my Dad broke the coded message and gave it to Adm. Chester Nimitz and staff, who gave a huge roar!!  It was a major turning point in the Pacific theater.

To hear my dad talk about it, he won WWII all by himself!!

http://www.politicususa.com/2017/05/02/farmers-trumps-immigration-policy-threatens-bottom-line.html

According to an article in U.S. News, the American Farm Bureau Federation has already warned that Trump’s strict immigration enforcement would raise food prices 5 to 6 percent because of a drop in supply."
