Hannity interview Assange says: ASSANGE: Our source is not a state party, so the answer for our interactions is no. But if we look at our most recent statement from the US government, which is on the 29th of December, OK, we had five different branches of government, Treasury, DHS, FBI, White House presenting their accusations to underpin Obama’s throwing out 29 Russian diplomats. What was missing from all of those statements? The word WikiLeaks. It’s very strange.

Can someone tell me why WikiLeaks is never mentioned only Russia?

One cannot be seen to give credit to them - everything must be done to discredit truth if it is against  (current views of) the president elect.

Assange has ZERO credibility as far as I am concerned

he did not want a fair and open election

he wanted Trump to be President

he released no damaging info against Trump, only against Clinton
and he CAREFULLY timed the release of that info to do the most damage possible

the question is why did he want Trump elected so very badly ?

In the olden days, a guy like Assange would disappear.  Just sayin'....

Whatever he says is a lie, period.  He has his own agenda.  CIA should shut Wikileaks down with cyber weapons, it would be easy.

Gee, none of the emails were a lie. So I would not call this man a liar based on Podesta's, DNC, and Hillary's emails. Why would the CIA shut down WikiLeaks we still have free speech in this country.

How do we know the emails were not doctored or tampered with?  No evidence either way.

The hacking was an act of war, and Assange is no friend of the USA.  I detested Hillary but detest Drumpf far more.   The guy is out and out nuts.

Sad.

"Back in 2010, Trump called WikiLeaks "disgraceful." "I think it's disgraceful, I think there should be like death penalty or something," Trump told Fox News's Brian Kilmeade. It's not clear whether Trump was referring to Assange or Pfc. Chelsea Manning, then known as Bradley Manning, who leader the documents.

To be clear, this doesn't seem to be the dominant GOP view of Assange. On Wednesday morning, House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) made clear that he thinks Assange is “a sycophant for Russia.” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), meanwhile, called Assange a “high-tech terrorist” in 2010 and doesn't seem to have amended that view. And Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) rebuked Hannity in October for his Assange praise."

Donald Trump joins Julian Assange to cast doubt over Russian hacking claims in 2016 election

President-elect Donald Trump is using WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to cast doubt over the US intelligence community's case that Russia was behind hacking affecting the Democrats ahead of the 2016 election.

Key points:

  • Donald Trump said the Democrats themselves were to blame for the hacks
  • He referenced Julian Assange, in saying a "14-year-old could have hacked Podesta"
  • Intelligence community and Democrats insist Russia was responsible

Mr Trump has suggested that the Democrats themselves were to blame for the hacking of its computers and mass emails leaks, including those of top Hillary Clinton adviser John Podesta.

He argued the Democrat National Convention (DNC) did not have a "hacking defence" and questioned why the Democratic Party had not responded "to the terrible things they did and said".

The President-elect appeared to be referring to information in the DNC emails that was made public and led to the resignation of the DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and other officials.

"Julian Assange said 'a 14-year-old could have hacked Podesta' why was DNC so careless? Also said Russians did not give him the info!" Mr Trump tweeted.

It was a striking spectacle for the incoming president to give credibility to Mr Assange, whose organisation has been under criminal investigation for its role in classified information leaks.

Mr Assange said his source for the hacked emails WikiLeaks published during the campaign was not a government, but his assertion left open the possibility they came from a third party.

The American intelligence community and Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill insisted Russia was behind the hacks, but Mr Trump repeatedly dismissed the allegation, challenging the intelligence experts who will help him make the weightiest possible decisions once he becomes president in two weeks.

The President-elect is expected to be briefed on a report into the hacking Friday by CIA Director John Brennan, FBI Director James Comey and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

Trump aides have argued Mr Trump's position was not personal, but based on what he saw as incomplete or inconclusive information.

Spokesman Sean Spicer said on Wednesday that Trump had received "raw data" on the hacking during daily intelligence briefings.

But he said the President-elect was "more sceptical of the conclusions that are drawn".

The President-elect has insisted that the Government does not really know who was behind the attacks.

He had said he would release more information this week.

Trump is kidding himself if he thinks the Russians don't also have a load of hacked intel on the GOP that will be used against them, unless they remain compliant.

Considering how many GOP politicians have turned out to be vile perverts (Dennis Hastert, Mark Foley etc.), I'm sure they have lots of file material to be brought out at the right time.  That's how the Russians work.

Here is a problem with what is being said here. Who would have believed Donald Trump would have been the Repub. candidate! All of this stuff (emails) were had before anyone knew Trump would be the candidate. So to say this was to help Trump only is not logical! It could have been Cruz or Rubio or LOL Jeb!

So to lay blame on Trump is not logical... lay it on whoever stole the emails. They hated Hillary!   No matter who did this the lesson is make sure you CAN'T BE HACKED no matter who or what you are.

The American people made an informed decision on who should become President which included the leaked emails. Oh Well, like an attorney friend of mind told me, "Sometimes life is like a sh^t sandwich and you have to take a bite."    Well Hillary had to take the bite!

I don't think Trump is to 'blame' but he can't really come out and agree with what the S-service says because that would deligitimize his presidency,it's a catch 22 ,the Russians must be rubbing their hands with glee at all the mistrust they are spreading,....divide and conquer.....

FluMom, that's a very logical argument. For all we know it was someone in the DNC trying to help Bernie. The DNC did conspire to steal the nomination from Bernie after all.

US election hacking claims: US spy chief 'resolute' on Russia cyber attack of US election

Updated 4 minutes ago

ThE top US intelligence official has told Congress he was "even more resolute" in his belief that Russia staged cyber attacks on Democrats in the 2016 election campaign, rebuking persistent scepticism from Republican President-elect Donald Trump about whether Moscow was involved.

Key points:

  • Director of National Intelligence says he has a very high level of confidence that Russia hacked Democratic Party institutions
  • Both US political parties are wary of Moscow
  • US intelligence officials said the cyber attacks were aimed at helping Mr Trump defeat Hillary Clinton

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said he had a very high level of confidence that Russia hacked Democratic Party institutions and operatives, as well as disseminating propaganda and fake news aimed at the November 8 election.

"Our assessment now is even more resolute than it was" on October 7 when the Government first publicly accused Russia, Mr Clapper told a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

An unclassified version of the intelligence review of Russian interference in the election would be made public early next week and would assign a motive for the attacks, Mr Clapper said.

Although Mr Trump called himself a "big fan" of intelligence agencies, he is heading for a conflict over the issue because he has cast doubt on their assessments that Russia targeted the election.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence has used the expression "healthy scepticism" to defend Mr Trump's criticism of intelligence agency findings.

But Mr Clapper said there was "a difference between healthy scepticism and disparagement".

Lawmakers from both parties are wary of Moscow and distrust Mr Trump's praise of Russian President Vladimir Putin and efforts to heal the rift between the United States and Russia.

'Aggressive' campaign to interfere in US election process

Republican senator John McCain — a leading Russia critic in Congress — oversaw the hearing, which was the first in a promised series of hearings into allegations that Russia tried to disrupt or influence the US campaign, one of the most bitter in recent history.

Democrats and Republicans on Thursday (local time) called for more economic sanctions and other action against Russia.

Mr Trump will be briefed by intelligence agency chiefs on Friday on the hacks that targeted the Democratic Party in the run-up to the election, which the New York businessman won against former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.

"I don't think we've ever encountered a more aggressive or direct campaign to interfere in our election process than we've seen in this case," Mr Clapper said.

Mr Clapper, who leaves when Mr Trump becomes president on January 20, stopped short of declaring Russia's actions "an act of war", saying that determination was beyond the scope of his office.

He did not say what made him confident that Russia was behind the cyber attacks, but that conclusion was shared by US intelligence agencies such as the CIA and several private cyber security firms.

'I'm ready to throw a rock'

Armed Forces Committee member Tim Kaine, who was Mrs Clinton's vice presidential running mate, called for Congress to act.

"This is very serious," Senator Kaine said.

"It is my hope that this congress is willing to stand in a bipartisan way for the integrity of the electoral process."

Foreign policy hawk and former 2016 Republican presidential candidate Lindsey Graham said Mr Obama's recent actions against Moscow fell short.

"I think what Obama did was throw a pebble. I'm ready to throw a rock," Senator Graham said.

"Putin is up to no good and he better be stopped."

Mr Clapper, National Security Agency director Mike Rogers and undersecretary of Defence for Intelligence Marcel Lettre all testified at Thursday's hearing about cyber threats.

They described Moscow as a major threat to a wide range of US interests because of its "highly-advanced offensive cyber program" and sophisticated capabilities.

Moscow has denied the hacking allegations.

President Barack Obama last week ordered the expulsion of 35 Russian suspected spies and imposed sanctions on two Russian intelligence agencies he said were involved in hacking US political groups such as the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

U.S. intel report identifies Russians who gave emails to WikiLeaks -officials

https://www.yahoo.com/news/u-intel-report-identifies-russians-gave-emails-wikileaks-020036818.html

Assange is either working for the Russians or is a total dupe

as is Sean Hannity who bought everything Assange says hook line and sinker

and Trump either knows about all this or he was used  and manipulated by Putin

bottom line is

the President elect was put into office with the ACTIVE help of the Russians

pure and simple

and indeed without their help Trump WOULD NOT be President

"move on" from that

how many more freakin' RED FLAGS do you need ?

Serbian government trolls in the battle for the internet

Serbia's governing party has a small, well-organized army to troll the internet on its behalf. It creates a parallel reality where everything in Serbia is great, and critics are simply enemies of the state.

Anti-Spähsoftware (Symbolbild) (Fotolia/davidevison)

The fortress - that's what Marija (not her real name) calls her former employer. She was hired to work as a troll for the Serbian Progressive Party which, under Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, is taking an increasingly autocratic approach to government across all levels. There have long been rumors about a secret army of trolls who try to appear as normal citizens on internet forums and social networks, but whose job it is to praise the government and condemn those who think differently. "It was hard for me to do this, to fabricate these various affairs even though I knew it was all a pack of lies," Marija told the Serbian edition of Newsweek on condition of anonymity.

She is one of a very few to have ever spoken publicly about her job as a troll. Today, Marija lives abroad, somewhere where the long arm of Serbian power can't reach her. Perhaps the most shocking aspect of her story is the level of organization. There are contingents of trolls across several cities, in hidden offices. The work is done in shifts, and there are supervisors who monitor everything. And there's money. "Officially, we were all employed as civil servants in public administrations," she said. Pay rates start at 370 euros - the average monthly income in this relatively poor Balkan country. "For me, trolling was a means of survival. I couldn't find a proper job; it was my only source of income."

First place in TV consumption

Vucic and his Progressive Party came to power five years ago and since then have had nothing but landslide victories. Having worked in Belgrade in the 1990s, Vucic has ample experience with propaganda and censorship. During the last years of the Milosevic regime at the height of the Kosovo war, Vucic, a hawkish nationalist, was serving as information minister - a highly euphemistic post, given that his work consisted mainly of spreading propaganda. Making his comeback with his new party, he presented himself as a pro-European and a changed man, prepared to work day and night for his people. He has worked tirelessly to implement the reforms demanded by the EU, and usher in dialogue with the former southern province of Kosovo. Brussels sees Vucic as a prototype Balkan leader who, more than anything, can deliver.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic

But his critics at home accuse him of having an authoritarian governing style, of handing out jobs to his cronies, and of having almost total control of the media. Indeed, one of the keys to his lasting popularity are the TV channels with nationwide reception, says Mihailo Tesic. According to the Belgrade marketing expert and blogger, the average Serb watches five hours of television per day - making them world leaders in this respect. And the most significant broadcasters toe the government line. Only around half the population uses the internet on a regular basis, while just a quarter go online to keep abreast of the news, a study by the think tank "New Serbian Political Thought"  has shown.

"For the government, the internet's use as a channel for communication is as important as the size of their army of trolls," Tesic told DW. Political opponents and dissidents have long since understood what's going on and even ridiculed it. The army is mainly used to comment on texts published on portals with a high volume of traffic. "That's where the trolls try to create the impression that the citizens all support the government's policies, and that the opponents should just give up," said Tesic.

Fighting back against the trolls

No one knows the troll scene in Serbia better than Twitter user AstroG. She never seems to take a break from reporting online "from the troll front" and revealing the fake accounts. She doesn't want to risk revealing her true identity. In correspondence with DW, she says the government's troll army consists of a few hundred people who use thousands of identities. "The trolls receive daily orders: Who are the main enemies today, and how should we attack them? Who are the heroes who should be celebrated? What should be covered up and what should be shouted from the rooftops? They're divided up into groups; some are tasked with the comment sections on portals, and others work mainly on Facebook and Twitter."

Symbolbild Internet Password Hacking (Fotolia/apops)

Armies of trolls try to influence reader comments and discussions on the internet

In this way, the trolls are able to deceive those who are not well informed, and especially, to set the agenda. One of the biggest campaigns in recent months was directed at the initiative known as "Don't Flood Belgrade!" which has been organizing protests against a controversial construction project on the banks of the Sava river in Belgrade. Trolls have been describing the activists, opposition and critical journalists as "Western operatives" intent on disrupting the peace and paving the way for a coup. "You shouldn't even bother to ask whether what the trolls are saying is true or not, because that doesn't matter to them. Rather, it's important to try and understand what information they're putting out there, and at what time," said AstroG.

Like gaming

The few insiders who've spoken about the trolling operations have said that internally, the teams of trolls regulate their activities like a game. There are several platforms where the shift leaders hand out the commands, and where the trolls can then enter how many comments, likes, or tweets they've left behind. They are then ranked according to a points system. Their place in the hierarchy - as well as their salary - depends on this ranking. Despite this, most of the troll comments are not very subtle. An especially popular, universally useful example: "Congratulations, Vucic." Such a simple job could ostensibly be done by bots - programs that try to imitate human activity on the internet. But they're just not sophisticated enough to write properly in Serbian.

The Belgrade-based foundation SHARE, which is dedicated to researching new media, has tried to document the effects of creating this parallel reality. In recent years, researchers have noted hundreds of insults, threats, and lies on social networks. The most interesting cases are those where people have lost their jobs after posting something critical about the government.  "We used to believe that social networks could become part of the foundation for democracy, that they would free people from any monopolies on information. But that assumption was wrong," Dorde Krivokapic, the foundation's director, told DW. "If we don't have freedom in the real world, then we won't have any in the digital world either."

Ok, bottom line...who can stop this hacking? Do we not have some young people smart enough to stop this hacking?

Come on this is America and we have the smartest and brightest. So if it is China stealing all the high security applications or the Russians hacking the DNC and Podesta how do we stop this?

That is what we should be talking about!

If the Russians or Director Comey had any influence on the election it was on undecided voters not on the vote count! In a few days every citizen who has sworn the oath of allegiance to the United States will have to except President Elect Trump as the Commander and Chief or resign! Whether you voted for or against him I suggest you start prepping! There are just too many things that can go South when you have people in charge who think they already know everything!
