The above is the direct link to the OIE incident report. Since it's Low Path, they currently have only instituted surveillance and quarantine. They might not depopulate the flock and instead just clean the property. |

It's scary how many reports of H5 and H7 viruses we're see in poultry operations like this. Conditions are perfect for them to infect large numbers of birds, and allow them to go hi-path or re-assort. If you have the time, check out Dr Michael Greger's excellent book, "Bird Flu - A Virus Of Our Own Hatching". In it, he details how large scale poultry (and swine) operations, especially in the US, are the perfect breeding grounds for novel viruses.
