Hantavirus is a little known, but highly virulent, virus spread via mouse droppings.  It has an extremely high case fatality rate (40%), and springtime in the US is when people get exposed.  I don't worry about it as I don't have any exposure to the little rodents, but some of us may live in an area where it is endemic or have activities that put us at risk:
