What I found disturbing about this article was not that Connecticut near my residence in New York has a small but early number of flu cases, which only vindicates my decision for early vaccination a week ago. What bothers me is that one full third of them have had to be hospitalised! If I am interpreting this correctly, this is a very bad early sign indeed.
http://www.ctpost.com/local/article/Flu-cases-start-to-rise-in-state-12279995.php Flu is officially circulating in the state, with the Connecticut Department of Public Health reporting that there have been at least 23 people who have tested positive for the illness so far this season. As of Saturday, Oct. 7 — the most recent date for which the state had numbers — flu was reported in six of the state’s eight counties. Fairfield County had the most, with 10 reports, followed by New Haven, with six and Hartford with four. Middlesex, New London and Tolland counties had all seen one case a piece. A total of eight patients had been hospitalized, and none had died. |
