It begins. Slowly for now, should be really going in a month or so. And a few early deaths noted. This report though credited to https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/quality/6-states-reporting-flu-cases.html

8 states reporting flu cases
Written by Mackenzie Bean | October 10, 2018 | Print | Email

Several states across the U.S. are already seeing flu cases at the start of the 2018-19 flu season.

Flu season runs from October to May and usually peaks between December and February, according to the CDC. During the 2017-18 flu season, about 80,000 people died from the flu and 900,000 people required hospitalization. The CDC is urging everyone ages 6 months and up to receive a flu vaccine by the end of October.

Here are eight states reporting flu cases, listed in alphabetical order.

Note: This may not be an exhaustive list.

1. Arizona. At least 30 people were diagonosed with the flu in Arizona the week of Oct. 1, reports Fox 10 Phoenix.

2. Delaware. The state has already reported 16 flu cases this season, according to Delaware Public Media.

3. Kentucky. State health officials confirmed Kentucky's first flu-related death of the 2018-19 season, which involved a patient in his or her 60s who had underlying health conditions. The health department could not identify a record of the patient receiving a flu shot.

4. Maryland. While the state has not started monitoring flu cases yet, Washington, D.C.-area hospitals have reported four flu cases, according to ABC7 News-WJLA.

5. North Carolina. The state recently reported two flu-related deaths, which occurred in late September and early October.

6. North Dakota. A physician at Grand Forks, N.D.-based Aurora Urgent Care learned he diagnosed the state's first flu case after reporting it to the state health department Oct. 8, according to the Grand Forks Herald.

7. Pennsylvania. Lancaster (Pa.) General Health confirmed several flu cases the week of Oct. 8, according to ABC27 News.

8. Tennessee. An unspecified amount of flu cases have already occurred in the state, NewsChannel 5 reported Oct. 8.
