Visited our local Super Walmart over the weekend.  Flour and sugar were completely gone.  The end caps were trailmixes, canned chili, water, and other emergency food items.   Rice was almost gone.  Things like tuna and dried beans had also been hit hard.

Several weeks ago I asked about canning supplies and was told they would not be stocking these until July but they had a complete aisle right up front of canning supplies, pressure cookers, lids, surejell, etc...  Curious.

They were completely out of lamp oil.

After the BF movie on May 9, I wonder what the shelves will look like on the 10th.

Has anyone noticed changes in their area?

Our local (FL) K-Mart had jars and lids two weeks ago.

So far I haven't noticed any difference in my grocery store. They seem to have everything.

I went to 2 Wal-mart's (forgot some stuff), Sam's Club and the Big Dollar Store today.  The 1st Wal-mart was not busy at all, lots of stuff on the shelves.  Sam's club was dead  and the shelves fully stocked (both in Fargo, ND), they even had bread flour, same with the Dollar store.  When I went to the 2nd Wal-mart, it was a nut house, it was like Christmas season.  BUT, because this is a vacation and summer home area, it's usually like this when people come back for the summer.  So, I don't think people were prepping.  I didn't notice anyone prepping anyway, just shopping.

Bought 3 oil lamps at our local Walmart last week. Got the last 3 bottles of lamp oil, but this brand promoted "smokeless" oil. But still......the last 3 bottles? I know they will restock, but since when is lamp oil a hot item?

My local publix is out of flour and sugar today as well.  I'm guessing the movie tonight may cause increased prepping over the next few days.

Our local Walmart was stocked to the gills!  (is that the right expression??)  Especially in the sporting goods department those $25 porta pottys were stacked all the way to the ceiling and across.  There were only two when I bought mine 1 month ago.

On the other hand, canned goods - vegies - had entire sections of the cheapest brand wiped out.  Parmalat milk was gone too.  Other than that they were stocked and ready to go.

Today was my VERY last power shopping trip.  I quit.  I figure I have 2 maybe 3 months now and I'm done.  My emotional health depends upon it being done.  I am seriously burned out.

Oh, but wait!  I still have to go to Sports Authority tomorrow for those coleman twin tube lanterns 2 for $20.  Then ... I'm doneBig smile
