FictionWriter- I've started reading your book, it's very good! Great story line and very nice character development. I like how you introduce and move the story along, nice smooth transitions. Sometimes new writers have a tendacy to give too much detail-this is not a problem with your writing, enough information to paint the picture without overwhelming, a difficult balance to find, yet you seem to have mastered this! I don't know how much this gives me qualification wise, but I was editor in chief for a magazine called Galleries for two years. I also wrote many articles. I think just my experience as connoisseur of novels mostly gives me the qualifications to say, well done!! I've only finished the first chapter but I can always tell after a few paragraphs if the story will be good. |

Are you sure you're reading mine? I'm pretty certain that the first chapter was a generic disclaimer

I read the disclaimer, I'm reading about the guy that doesn't die? and the history of it? is that part of the disclaimer? I don't have time to get back to it until late tonight-gotta earn some bacon, but I also skimmed ahead up to chapt 3 so what I said still holds true. When I skimmed ahead I was looking at structure and briefly touched on what I call the 'painting'. That is the descritive aspects- do I feel as if I'm there? Can I 'feel' the surroundings? Does the dialogue hold true to the way people really converse? That kind of thing. You're a good writer, you can trust my judgment. Have you achieved the status of say Niven/Purnell? Or Azimov? Iles? Crihton? Not yet, but, remember they all have/had an editor, but keep up the writing you'll get there for sure. A good editor is important to any writing, I'm not suggesting me, I don't have that kind of editorial experience. You do have the 'bones' for it though, which is the most important part of writing. Like composition is to my work, it's good to have good technique, and it helps to have a good story, but composition is the major key, think about S. Kings Cujo. Imagine writing a whole novel about a rabid dog, and making it good too.

Pebbles- you wouldn't believe how cute I am, I'm so cute and cool, my husband is always chasing strange men away, they just fall in love with me, on account of how cute and cool I am, gosh I can't even go to the store without another marriage proposal, lol. Okay, so I'm a little chubby, and I get chin hairs, and I have a few age spots on my cheeks, lol. And I can't breathe when I shave my legs. I'm still cute, I'm still cool....right? |

Frumpy now but the US Government is advising everyone to be frumpy and lay in for the pandemic and we are wise enough to take that advice
Frumpy now but the reality is harsh in the worse case and its the only possibility as far as I can see but when/not if it happens we will be looked up to as men and women of vision and wisdom not frumps.
How can it be any other than the worst case - the H5N1 is global infecting birds so that is an avian flu pandemic - non human and its mutating to humanity with a mortality rate of 50% with a possible strike rate of 50% because of humanitys naivity to the novel virus,
Worse case is more than likely

Rodin33,
Not sure that I have an editor, but what i do have is a Beta, which reads through the first draft, and adds a bit of polish here and there. I believe I would not have been nominated for the award had it not been for the valiant efforts of my Beta Reader...

They'll have to look up to us if we're all hanging upside down! Like batty bats.
Sorry Kilt, I couldn't resist that. Beth
