Science must get ready for the next global flu crisis

Nature.com-24 Jan. 2018
One hundred years ago this month, the 1918 influenza virus was just starting to spread. It would become the greatest public-health crisis of the twentieth century, claiming some 50 million to 100 million lives. The centenary has raised questions over whether such a severe flu pandemic could happen today, and whether the ...

Britain was caught by the flu epidemic

In France, an epidemic of flu is raging, people are dying
05 January 2018 15

Influenza epidemics are also registered in Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands, Turkey, Turkey
In the United States on January 15, 2013, 60 000 people who were ill with the flu, on December 31, 20 000 people with the flu. The incidence in the United States is several dozen times higher. There, many hospitals refused to accept patients with the flu. Giving them the opportunity to die at home. The UK has very large waiting lists for patients to see a doctor that patients die in the corridor.

"One of the most deadly outbreaks of influenza in BCC's recent memory - the Center for Disease Control and the National Institute of Public Health - can be forced to send thousands of workers home."

"Live in California, where the flu is accused of killing hundreds of people in only one district."

Comment: They do not give us real news - or they were not. This current flu is not only everywhere - 49 states are widespread, but deadly.

A political impasse can stop medical care due to a massive outbreak of influenza in the United States. Hundreds of children are dying, and it seems that the authorities that care more about immigrants than our own citizen are getting into an unpleasant strain of mutant H3N2 flu.
Texas The most difficult, so far, there have been 1,555 deaths related to the flu.

This is the worst flu season I have ever seen. Everyone is sick. Including myself.

Odd thing happen when I went to the docters office.

they treat you like you got the plaque.

docter kept her distance.

the blood pressure cuff they took and replaced with a new one.
so the other one could be sterilized

and they had a machine running in the room that make the room like it
was so hot not sure if it was some sort of machine to sterilize the room.

I wore a mask the nurse wore a mask and the docter as well.

I received a z-pack for treatment

they didn't bother taking a flu test

this is the sickest I have ever been.

Not good.

Well, get well soon, Prepgirl.

That hot room sounds weird.  About 15 years ago Hubby had a mistery illness.  He had contracted it from his nephew, who picked it up from incoming sailors at the fishing port (The nephew was a taxi driver, all you dirty minded folk.).  When the ambulance took him to hospital it got very hot on board.  Hubby guessed and the paramedic confirmed, that this was a forced air system to contain contagions more safely.  I do not know if that was the case at your doctor's surgery.

I wonder if any of our medical members can enlighten us?

I was in my doctor's office on Monday this week for my annual check up. Lucky he only sees his healthy patients in the morning so no sick people to be around.

CDC is going to take a hit from the public on the efficacy of the Flu Shot. Saw on facebook today , "No Flu Shot No Flu, Got the Flu Shot Got the Flu". And this was from some teachers I know. I know some here do not believe in the Flu Shot but at least I feel like I tried.
