I have plenty for at least 6 months for me and my owners (2 cats ). But, if any of my kids show up, it will turn out to be rice and beans, tators and beans, biscuits and beans, and just plain beans. Found out that my landlord has a genny for the well. Already has a large holding tank, so I hope that water will be fine. I do have lots of soda bottles and those collapsible containers that I bought before I knew about the genny. And, of course I realize that the fuel may run out before the pandemic does. I live in a small trailer park about 6 miles from town. I hope that most folks will leave as they are construction workers. Yup, I`m trailer trash. LOL. Do have my eye on the Texas longhorns down the road aways.Think the owners would miss one ? |

I'm concentrating on using up money in our flexible spending account for over the counter meds and getting my DH to write us some prescriptions for things. Filling out the medicine cabinet with that extra FSA money. For those of you that have Flexible Spending accounts through work, don't forget to use it all! Seems like every year we've got friends moaning about how they lost money because the end of the year snuck up on them. Buy backup contacts, glasses, over the counter meds, call your doctors office and ask for meds that are maintenance meds, explain you want to use that FSA money - they've got tons of people calling my DH office to ask b/c of that and he understands and calls them in. So anyway, that's the focus right now.
Not much new with food. I didn't realize how many preps I had until my oldest daughter told my mother that "there's not anywhere to hide in the house for hide and seek because Mommy has jars and boxes of food there." She was referring to under the beds, closets, etc. Yep. So I'm taking a break from food for a while. She also still tells me, in a reminding tone, that "Mommy, there's butter under my bed." (Butter I canned.)

My wifes mother lost her job so our preps and our cash has taken a direct hit. "You sank my battleship"
Her mother has a 17 and 8 yr. old sons at home. This happens every 3 or 4 months. And always right before Christmas.Every time we see a little daylight along comes the mother-in-law solar eclipse. Sorry for the gloom all. |

I am wondering even when we go out what products will be available.
What if the farmers can not grow the food because they are ill or can not get fuel, seeds, workers, etc. What if it hits during growing season and all the crops are lost because they can not be processed, shipped, etc. so if we plan for the wave to pass in like 6 months and have supplies for that time period what will be availiable for purchase to replinsh with?

I'm more worried about it hitting in a not-growing season - like dead of winter. I have bought seeds with to plant my own garden, I can shoot game, but if it's winter, that's what we'll have to get through. I think we all need enough to get to that growing season, and through till crops we plant are producing.

the N95 masks that are "dust masks" ARE medical grade and they DO say NIOSHA APPROVED. Regular dust masks are not listed as N95 or any other numbers. ANy mask in the P series will protect as their filtration is even better than the N95s
