US to create a bird flu virus mutation

   Washington Times published on March 24, 2005 that the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention started a series of experiments to mutate the bird flu virus H5N1 with H3N2 virus to see how likely a pandemic was.

Does anybody know anything about the result of those experiments?
