Shikibo to Launch Anti-Virus Fabric Against Avian Flu
Tokyo, Sept 14, 2006 (JCN) - Shikibo Ltd. and the National Institute of Animal Health have jointly developed a fabric called 'Flutect' that has been proven to block the spread of bird influenza by 99.9%, even after 50 washings, stopping the spread of the virus within 10 minutes of exposure. Flutect will be available in 2007 in the form of uniforms for poultry house workers, masks, filters, down jackets, lab-coats and so forth. By Sarah Hall, JCN Staff Writer Copyright © 2006 JCN. I saw some sheets advertised as capable of doing something similar with 'viruses.' I am not sure where I saw them . . . Linen & Things, Sharper Image . . . ? I believe the ad said it was based upon principels learned by NASA (& so I thought it might be silver based). They were expensive (but < $100) & I did not purchase any but am interested to know what others think about such products.
