My husband and I both just got through reading a GREAT book.  It's written by James Wesley, Rawles (yes, a comma) and it's called "Patriots, Surviving the Coming Collapse."  It is just an amazing book in the sense that you come away from it with TONS of info on how to survive a complete collapse.  It's plot is about a group of people who live together and survive five years through a "complete" collapse.  The trials that they go through and the preparations they had in place really made us re-think a lot of things.  My husband and I actually sat down and went through this book page by page and made notes of the devices and techincal things they had, and are in the process now of research and purchasing.  The author is completely versed on what to do to prepare for what we're all fearing, a total collapse.  READ THIS BOOK!!!!!  I feel a lot more prepared mentally and think I've caught a lot of holes in my prep plans by reading it.

amazon.com $48 to $348. all used as far as I can tell. What gives? Written in 1999 so not exactly "hot off the press". Sounds good, but I think I will get it from my library or wait until the price comes down to $6 online. Rocky

The publisher just went out of business and there's a lot of things in this book that I'm sure our police departments would rather folks not know how to do.  I agree, get it from your library, it's a good book.

Oops, the early bird gets the worm, and that's hard to do living in the Pacific Time Zone. Someone got it before I did, even tho' it is still listed. Thanks anyway and appreciate the tip on bestwebbuys.com. Rocky

A lot of the books that came out during the survival movement, went into great detail on survival. Some states ban the selling of some of these books because of content. And believe me, it will only get worse.... buy them while you can.
Me??? What books??? I ain't got no books.

Good information and thanks to all. The book lists for $15.99 so I either want to get it at that price or from a library. That might be tricky, but I will try. Just don't feel (& can't afford) overpaying to someone who is making a profit from this. Rocky

It is edited by John Wesley, Rawles

I also read that he is looking for another publisher for the book so maybe it will be in print again.

My poor fingers are going to fall off.  I've written a lot tonight that you might want to read, check out the "storage preps" thread on the general page (I left two long ones there) and the thread called "Think outside your box!" (I wrote a book there.)  I got a lot of the ideas from reading a variety of books, but insofar as tips are concerned, that's some of them.  All my fingers can manage for tonight, anyhow!  Wink
