Dont know if this has ben said before but i have noticed that alot of people are stocking up on rice and pastas. Now apart from, the microwave meal versions to my knowledge these take quite a bit of water to cook. Most people will need to be very careful with there water supplies as its amazing how much water one uses in 24 hours.

P.s if there is a way not to use much water on these said items it would be great if you could let me know.Cheers gangWink

Yes, rice & pasta require a fair amount of water (maybe don't dump that pasta water - use it for the next batch of rice) but they also at least double in size and create some body/texture for meals for a small monetary investment.  I plan to add them to canned soups/broths to stretch those a bit farther for the family.

Water to be used for cooking is a prudent use of it, especially for carbohydrates which offer so much food value as opposed to other food groups.  Consider cutting back water usage for other things like baths or clothes/dish washing before cutting it from cooking nutricious meals for your family.  Use paper plates & disposable utensils, and try to take advantage of rainwater if you can.
