I hate paying for shelving for my supplies. Every spring the local community has a "large trash pickup" day on several Saturday mornings where you can get rid of things that the normal trash pickup doesn't handle. After getting over the "trash rat" complex, I've been able to snag propane tanks, water containers, gas cans, and other BF items. Last fall I expanded my supply area in the basement and needed more shelving and so this year I've been on the lookout for steel shelving units and its been easy pickings...seems lots of folks decide that they really don't need or want those shelves and I've picked up about 10 of them over the past few weeks as the "big trash pickup" progresses across the metro. In fact, there are so many of them I am quite selective and don't take the flimsy, bent, or rusted shelves. And they are already put together so I just load and go. Last weekend I had to pass up on a set of three at one place because I'd already loaded up three other units and a new filing cabinet (going to use it for records storage). These are perfect for BF supplies and if it turns out this whole deal blows over I won't have any heartache setting out these out on the curb myself at the next big trash day.

I thank God I married my husband:O) He built me all kinds of shelves from wood they were throwing out at work. They are very nice and I LOVE them:O). You are lucky to find all those nice shelves out like that for free. Shelving can be expensive. I know if we put anything out at the curb like a piece of furniture, old vacuum cleaner or whatever there are folks that stop by with their pick ups and take so I never have to worry about the garbage people not taking it. The items we place out never last anyway:O)
