Pentagon Prepared to Defend US Planes in China Defense Zone
A Pentagon spokesman says the United States will not comply with China’s new air defense zone in the East China Sea and is prepared to defend its aircraft that enter the region. Shortly after China declared it was establishing an Air Defense Identification Zone in the East China Sea, U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel issued a statement condemning the move and saying the new Chinese policy would not in any way change how the United States conducts military operations in the region. On Monday, Pentagon spokesman U.S. Army Colonel Steve Warren made the U.S. position even clearer. “When we fly into this aerial zone we will not register a flight plan. We will not identify our transponder, our radio frequency, and our logo,” he said. Those were the four things that Warren said China was now requiring of all aircraft entering the zone, which includes the Senkaku islands over which Beijing has a dispute with Japan. U.S. Warns China Over East China Sea Maritime Grab
The Pentagon invoked a U.S. defense treaty with Japan and warned China on Saturday that its declaration of an air defense zone over the East China Sea is increasing the danger of military conflict. Both Secretary of State John Kerry and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel issued statements late Saturday expressing “deep concern” over China’s creation of the air defense identification zone, or ADIZ, that extends over Japan’s Senkaku Islands, which China claims as its territory. “We view this development as a destabilizing attempt to alter the status quo in the region,” Hagel said. “This unilateral action increases the risk of misunderstanding and miscalculations.” [link to freebeacon.com] |

The Chinese are sending an aircraft carrier and two destroyers to the island which will try to enforce the Chinese claim to the island. This is a very volatile situation and it appears there could be a confrontation.
Aljazeera.net translated from Arabic China announced Tuesday to send an aircraft carrier to South China Sea region which claimed sovereignty with neighbours amid high tension because of its new air control zone, prompting angry reactions, particularly Japan. AFP said that the aircraft carrier "Liaoning" left the port of Qingdao, East China, was heading south in the first task in the South China Sea, according to the Chinese Navy on one of its Web sites. And the aircraft carrier in active service for more than a year, the two destroyers equipped with missile launcher and two frigates to rocket as the new China news agency Xinhua that the job was "a necessary stage of experimentation and training" for equipment and personnel. The Agency quoted maritime officials as saying that the task represents a normal training program scheduled for the carrier, while military analysts predicted that China uses for training. Interesting Geopolitics at the moment. The USA did a deal with Iran, which is a complete about face and has pretty much changed the whole dynamic of the mid east. Very unusual in the big picture. Maybe it was done so they can direct more attention to China?
I've suspected there might be a fight between the superpowers after the GFC. If you look at past wars though out history there is usually a skirmish after a depression. The last one was WW2. After this dispute the UK handed over the power to the USA. The move was a pretty orderly changing of the guard. Some would say not much changed at all. Basically the world went from using the Pound Stirling as reserve and used the US dollar instead. And with this, Wall Street became the centre of the world. Being able to trade shares, derivatives etc etc. and do it with out having to exchange to another currency is a massive advantage. The current threat, as the USA see it is, the rise of China. It is predicted that by 2016 China's GDP will surpass the USA. This is a significant as they will be the dominant force in world trade. And would naturally try to make its currency the world reserve. Little understood is the amount of US dollars that float around the world. 70% of all US currency is off shore. Many banks need US currency in reserve So the underlying threat is that China makes moves to have the yuan become the preferred global currency. And this could all change quite rapidly and would cause massive issues for the USA. The 70% of currency floating around would come back to the US. It was cause serious financial problems. So this has got me stumped why is China pushing its weight around? They don't have to fight to win world domination. The only thing China has to do is just sit tight. Its in the US interest to pick a fight. They have the bombs and guns. There needs to be more analysis of what China is doing. Is this all just sabre rattling??

Just read up on the history of these islands. They have been Chinese territory for many thousands of years. Only recently has Japan claimed them.
It kind of backs up what i was saying about the aggressor here being the USA and Japan. The US is pushing for a fight!!!!
