A serological survey of canine H3N2, pandemic H1N1/09 and human seasonal H3N2 influenza viruses in dogs in China.Sun Y1, Shen Y1, Zhang X1, Wang Q1, Liu L1, Han X2, Jiang B1, Wang R1, Sun H1, Pu J1, Lin D1, Xia Z1, Liu J3. AbstractInfluenza viruses have been isolated from dogs in China; however, the extent of influenza infection among dogs is not yet clear. Here, we examined the seroprevalence of avian-origin canine H3N2, pandemic H1N1/09 and human seasonal H3N2 influenza viruses in pet dogs in China during January 2012 to June 2013. The seropositivity rate of canine H3N2, H1N1/09 and human H3N2 were 3.5%, 1.5%, and 1.2%, respectively. Dogs aged 2-5 years were most commonly seropositive to canine H3N2 virus. It is worth noting that two serum samples were positive against both canine H3N2 andH1N1/09 viruses, suggesting the possibility of coinfection with both viruses. Our findings emphasize the necessity for continued surveillance of influenza viruses in dogs in China. Copyright © 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. KEYWORDS:Antibodies, Dog, Influenza

When pigs and humans can get H1N1 a lot of mammals will be vulnarable for that virus. Looking at the spread of a virus (and of coinfections) one should not underestimate the roll of animals.
(It makes me wonder if there are any studies on the spread of the H1N1-virus in 1918. Dogs and horses were part of the armies. It is likely that animals may have helped the spread of the virus back then. Maybe even pigeons did bring more then only mail from the front.)

xiaweiww, I understand that also in China there are a lot of streetdogs. The potential for coinfection in(wild) mammals seems to me to be endless. Testing will only give sight on the top of an iceberg. Are there any strategies for that ?

Spammers make fake accounts and their signatures advertise their spam sites. Sometimes they will put random words everywhere, or copy a whole statement word for word, or they will copy pieces of statements that sound like a real thought to hide their identity. They tend to comment on older posts instead of the newest ones too.

I totally agree with Hachi. I'd remove but I've not moderated here in a while so I don't want to step on any toes... so I'll wait for jacksdad, Penham or albert to make the decision. But I'd bet he's a total spammer, don't click that link would be my advice.
