I just paid 13.00 for a 2 lb. chuck roast. 93% lean hamburger is almost 5.00 a pound. I don't buy much beef mostly chicken so with my son home I have purchased more beef. Man is it like this all over?

Do we have a beef shortage in the US?

If avian influenza keeps spreading at the rate it's going right now we won't be able to afford chicken soon!

FluMom, that is less than what I pay for the 93/7%... Last week I got a 1 lb pack of the 80/20 ground chuck & it was $4.98... so the 93/7 had to be more than that.

Yes, it is expensive. Here in OK it is "on sale" for $4.59lb for cheap ground beef. I have been bartering with a friend of mine who is a cattle rancher for beef, so I haven't been paying for beef lately.

I can't believe how stupid people are in the US. They are so happy about the gas prices going down but food prices are going sky high and all have to eat. You can quit using your car if gas is high...walking, bike, or a cheap gas saving car like mine.

Just saw on TV how all the food companies are making the packages lighter in product and smaller. They charge the same for a smaller amount.   People do not complain about the higher food costs going up every day but OMG they scream about gas!

This country is doomed!
