Thanks for the article...I am just beginning to learn about the bird flu (the article really helped) and I still have some dumb questions to fully understand it. Has there yet been any cases of the avian flu in humans in the United States? If not, why do we suspect it will come here? OK so sorry if these are just stupid no brainers...but thanks anyway.

Amber, I had hoped that someone else might respond to you but since no one has I will give you some homework instead. Below you will find a link for CIDRAP (Center for Infectious Disease Research & Policy). It is run by people who are authoritative on Medical issues & policy, public health, and Avian Influenza. The link is to their recently updated over view of Pandemic Influenza. Although they are medical experts, the information is presented so that most can grasp it, but it does get somewhat technical. Try to understand the bits and pieces because they are important to what may or may not happen, how it may or may not happen, and what Flubies refer to when we challenge some of the inaccuracies in the Main Street Media (commonly referred to here as MSM). I found it helpful to read it twice, sometimes I'm a little slow on the up-take. |

I don't know which one of these you should read first!! The link in my above post for Pandemic Influenza in general, the below link is for Avian Flu, CIDRAP's overview. I think if you read the Influenza one first then the Avian Influenza next the information may come together for you. Amber, I am sorry to do this but this is a complicated issue without readily available answers. The better educated we are about what facts we DO have in hand the better off we are. |

Aroth, right now the virus is transmitted from birds to humans, which is how all human influenza viruses begin in their early stages. Soon, this influenza virus will mutate into a form that will enable it to be easily transmitted among humans. Again, this is what happens with all influenza viruses. The problem is that this new strain of flu that has now emerged is extremely lethal to humans. In fact, it's the deadliest known disease in human history. It's very deadly. By virtue of this lethal virus being in the form of an influenza virus, which are really contagious to humans, truly spells disaster. Soon, this virus will mutate into a form that will allow it to easily be spread among humans. Scientists predict that this could happen over then next 30 - 60 days, or even sooner. When this happens, life as we know it will change over night. The World Health Organization currently has us at "Phase 3" on their pandemic warning system. Should they raise it to phase 4, we will be within days of some really bad things happening. We are really just one small step away from a really bad plague Here is the link to the WHO's current warning system alert. http://www.who.int/csr/disease/avian_influenza/phase/en/inde x.html Edited by Albert |
