More cases in Melbourne measles outbreakPublished: 6:23 am, Monday, 2 October 2017 Several more people in Melbourne have contracted measles, taking the current outbreak to 11 confirmed cases, Victoria's health department says. The latest diagnoses were confirmed on the weekend, the state's chief health officer Charles Guest said on Sunday. Eight of the 11 cases are connected through a workplace at the Collins Square building in Docklands and its immediate surroundings, while two people also passed through Melbourne airport on flights to and from Asia. Professor Guest says people should look out for measles symptoms if they attended any of the locations where confirmed patients were present before they were diagnosed. Measles usually begins with common cold symptoms such as runny nose, red eyes and a cough - followed by fever and rash three to seven days after the first symptoms. Measles has an incubation period of seven to 18 days and people may not develop symptoms up until mid-October, Professor Guest said. Other locations visited include the Metro train network and a State Theatre performance of the Australian Ballet. Measles has an incubation period of seven to 18 days and experts are warning people who attended these locations to look out for symptoms including a runny nose, fever or a rash. This happens because people refuse the vaccinate their kids! I get my booster for all that I can because I work with kids.
So many in the U.S. do not vaccinate their children sorry but to me that is not very bright. |
