A Dutch judge who tried to influence the court presiding over the recent MH17 trial by spreading a conspiracy theory among the judges has resigned from the bench.

Judge Charlotte van Rijnberk, who worked at the court of appeal in The Hague, distributed a book written by her brother to judges and prosecutors involved in the MH17 case. She was given a formal reprimand and was moved to a different department so she no longer had a role in criminal trials.

The court has now said she has resigned, the Telegraaf reported.

The book’s author, who used a pseudonym, argues that flight MH17 was not downed by a Russian missile at all in 2014, as the Dutch Safety Board and the public prosecutor had concluded. Instead, he claims the plane was shot down by the Ukrainian authorities.

Describing the trial as the result of corruption, the aim of the book, the author said on the cover, was to make sure the court case proceeded with different public prosecutors and different suspects.

The judge herself described the findings of the MH17 investigation as “a deliberate and transparent cover-up” and said some of the data used was “manipulated and a lie”, broadcaster NOS reported. According to the FD, she also wrote to judges and court officials in an attempt to influence the proceedings.

Judges determined last year that flight MH17 was shot down by a Russian Buk missile over Ukrainian territory. All 298 occupants died in the disaster, including 196 Dutch nationals.

Three of the four people accused of facilitating the disaster were found guilty and the fourth acquitted by The Hague court last November. None were in the Netherlands for the trial and no one has launched an appeal.

My (very limited) view; lots of questions;

-Why was that plane in that area at that time...

-Why Russia would use such a weapon when Ukraine was not using bombers at that altitude ?

There are claims the Buk-missile used was an older Soviet era type...Ukraine still uses them, Russia did not...

Also the speed with wich western "media" blamed Russia was "surprising"....blindly following Ukraine (secret service) claims...

Ukraine was part of the "investigation team" , Malaysia (the plane was Malaysian-on its way to Kuala Lumpur) was NOT invited...Russia also was not allowed to give her version (in a serious way).

DJ-To me it looks like a show trial...the goal was not to find facts but blame Russia...all evidence pointing in any other direction simply was ignored...(a.o. US and Saudi-AWACS over Black Sea radar data). The "Ukraine lie" was taken for truth...(as we did see later on in the war...At least several times Ukraine air defense damaging houses...but western media following Ukraine propaganda-lies and blame Russia).

There have been "incidents" like this before and later https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Air_Lines_Flight_902 or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Air_Lines_Flight_902 1978

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Air_Lines_Flight_007 or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Air_Lines_Flight_007 1983

The Boeing 747 airliner was en route from Anchorage to Seoul, but owing to a navigational mistake made by the crew, the airliner drifted from its original planned route and flew through Soviet prohibited airspace. The Soviet Air Forces treated the unidentified aircraft as an intruding U.S. spy plane, and destroyed it with air-to-air missiles, after firing warning shots which were probably not seen by the KAL pilots. The Korean airliner eventually crashed in the sea near Moneron Island west of Sakhalin in the Sea of Japan. All 269 passengers and crew aboard were killed, including Larry McDonald, a United States representative. The Soviet Union found the wreckage under the sea two weeks later on September 15 and found the flight recorders in October, but this information was kept secret by the Soviet authorities until after the country's collapse.

The Soviet Union initially denied knowledge of the incident,[2] but later admitted to shooting down the aircraft, claiming that it was on a MASINT spy mission.[3] The Politburo of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union said it was a deliberate provocation by the United States[4] to probe the Soviet Union's military preparedness, or even to provoke a war.

DJ Also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukraine_International_Airlines_Flight_752 or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukraine_International_Airlines_Flight_752 ;

Iranian authorities initially denied having any responsibility for the aircraft's destruction, but investigations by various intelligence agencies from the Western world as well as by the Iranian public later revealed that it had been struck by two surface-to-air missiles. On 11 January 2020, the Iranian government admitted that the IRGC had targeted Flight 752 after mistakenly identifying it as an American cruise missile.[8]

and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_Air_Flight_655 or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_Air_Flight_655 ;

Iran Air Flight 655 was a scheduled passenger flight from Tehran to Dubai via Bandar Abbas that was shot down on 3 July 1988 by two SM-2MR surface-to-air missiles fired by the USS Vincennes, a guided-missile cruiser of the United States Navy. The missiles hit the aircraft, an Airbus A300, while it was flying its usual route over Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf, shortly after the flight departed its stopover location, Bandar Abbas International Airport. All 290 people on board were killed.[1]

Pentagon officials initially said Vincennes had shot down an Iranian F-14, but issued a retraction within hours and confirmed Iranian reports that the target was instead a civilian Airbus.[38]

in general if countries do shoot down a civilian flight they admit it...(one can discuss if it was a mistake or had another goal)

For me Russia shooting down a plane from Amsterdam to Malaysia with a lot of passengers on their way to a holliday on Bali makes NO SENSE ! Ukraine shooting down that plane, either by mistake (Russia had recognize/intel flights at that altitude) or with the plan to blame Russia for it does make sense...

The west did see political show trials in the past...Family members of those killed deserve to know the truth...

I did open a topic "on vaccines" (general discussion)  and there is also some "claims" "masks do not work"...

My view;

-Vaccines are medical interventions. Medical interventions only are allowed if the recipient agrees with the intervention. Under certain rules a government or employer can make certain demands. But in general people should decide for themselves if they want to have a vaccination or not...

Even information on that vaccination is private...

So -if there is a medical crisis- government may make specific rules for a.o. limiting access to public spaces...An alternative is closing those spaces...but care centers, people in care homes need visitors...

One could find lots of conspiricies on/in medical interventions; there is a lot of money involved...

CoViD vaccines are -in general- supposed to be "non-sterilizing"=they do NOT stop infection but limit disease (because the body has been prepared via the vaccine).

One question -my view- should be if non-sterilizing vaccines are "the best means" to fight a multi year pandemic (most pandemics last more than 1 year).

Vaccinated people may still catch the virus and that infection may result in "mutation selection" for those mutations that do the best to evade vaccine immunity...(same proces for immunity after infection...the initial idea was an infection would provide protection...in part (?) because of vaccine-immunity evasion also "natural immunity" could function less...).

https://www.independentsage.org/ or https://www.independentsage.org/ is promoting "vaccine+ strategy" with the + in Non pharma Interventions (masks, ventilation, working from home).

DJ-Over 8 billion people with trillions of animals and a crazy amount of travel is asking for pandemics...You have lots of hosts, lots of diseases and via travel lots of ways for contact/spread...If we are not willing to see the basic problem we only will see more pandemics...At best vaccines may "help" (like in flu-vaccines...far from perfect) ...but commercial pharma goes for profits (only) ....Public health should be in PUBLIC hands ! Funded by tax ! Not -so much more expensive- healthcare for the rich with crazy profits/salaries...

The public sector -not for profits- make countries civilized...

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

A world record for Sea Surface Water Temperature seems to have taken place yesterday, July 24, 2023, off the southeastern coast of Florida, reaching 101.1°F  at 6:00 PM eastern US Time.   The record was recorded by Ocean Data Buoy MNBF1 at Manatee Bay, near Key Largo, Florida.

DJ, Hal Turner than claims;

Of course, NONE of these so-called 'Climate Experts" ever bothers to admit that Carbon Dioxide, as a gas, cannot store heat any more or any less than other gasses.  They also never admit that Carbomn Dioxide does not prevent heat transfer, the way other gasses (like the Argon gas in your Low-E windows) can.

So if Carbon Dioxide does not store more heat, and does not prevent heat transfer, then how is it that the ocean is warmer than the air?

That's easy:   THE SUN.

The sun is heating the water.  Just like the sun heats the air.

DJ...http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2023/07/planetary-inferno-nero-fiddles-while-rome-burns.html or http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2023/07/planetary-inferno-nero-fiddles-while-rome-burns.html and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenhouse_gas or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenhouse_gas ;

Greenhouse gases (abbreviated as GHGs) are those gases in the atmosphere which absorb some of the heat that the Earth radiates after it warms from sunlight. This effect is called the greenhouse effect. Larger amounts of these gases trap more heat in Earth's lower atmosphere, causing global warming. The physical property that these gases have in common is that they absorb radiant energy at thermal infrared wavelengths.[1] Generally speaking, greenhouse gases trap some of the heat a planet's surface radiates in response to light from its host star (which is the sun in the case of planet Earth). The primary greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere are water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and ozone (O3). Without greenhouse gases, the average temperature of Earth's surface would be about −18 °C (0 °F),[2] rather than the present average of 15 °C (59 °F).[3][4][5]

DJ...science claim some gasses store heat better than others do...

Human activities since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution (around 1750) have increased the atmospheric concentration of methane by over 150% and carbon dioxide by over 50%,[6][7] up to a level not seen in over 3 million years.[8] Carbon dioxide is causing about 3/4ths of global warming and can take thousands of years to be fully absorbed by the carbon cycle.[9][10] Methane causes most remaining warming and lasts in the atmosphere for an average of 12 years.[11]

The vast majority of anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions come from the combustion of fossil fuels, principally coalpetroleum (including oil) and natural gas. Additional contributions come from cement manufacturing, fertilizer production, and changes in land use like deforestation.[12][13][14] Methane emissions originate from agriculture, fossil fuel production, waste, and other sources.[15]

Average global surface temperature has risen by 1.2 °C (2.2 °F) as a result of greenhouse gas emissions. If current emission rates continue then temperatures will surpass 2.0 °C (3.6 °F) sometime between 2040 and 2070, which is the level the United NationsIntergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says is "dangerous".[16]

DJ...there is discussion on where to put the baseline...should it be 1750 or 1650...the temperature difference may be small...Another claim is that by now the temperature rise may be already over 1,5C...

Fossil fuel industry, cars/aircraft industry are the "basics" for most economies...so to change that without destroying the economy needs good planning...

You do not want global destruction via climate "effects" -but you do also not want to "over react" and destroy economies...

The https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intergovernmental_Panel_on_Climate_Change or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intergovernmental_Panel_on_Climate_Change

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is an intergovernmental body of the United Nations. Its job is to advance scientific knowledge about climate change caused by human activities.[1] The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) established the IPCC in 1988. The United Nations endorsed the creation of the IPCC later that year.[2] It has a secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, hosted by the WMO. It has 195 member states who govern the IPCC.[3] The member states elect a bureau of scientists to serve through an assessment cycle. A cycle is usually six to seven years. The bureau selects experts to prepare IPCC reports.[4] It draws the experts from nominations by governments and observer organisations. The IPCC has three working groups and a task force, which carry out its scientific work.[4]

DJ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPCC_Sixth_Assessment_Report or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPCC_Sixth_Assessment_Report ;

According to the WGI report, it is only possible to avoid warming of 1.5 °C (2.7 °F) or 2.0 °C (3.6 °F) if massive and immediate cuts in greenhouse gas emissions are made.[1] In a front-page story, The Guardian described the report as "its starkest warning yet" of "major inevitable and irreversible climate changes",[7] a theme echoed by many newspapers[8] as well as political leaders and activists around the world.

Maybe IPCC is "very political"  and "running behind reality"....weather is NOT climate...one year may be exceptional...but since 2000 we did see to many exceptions to ignore...

Besides fossil fuel one could also look at agri-culture...do we need this massive meat consumption ? It also is damaging climate (methane a.o.) and may not be the best way to use grains...

Pandemics and climate change go hand-in-hand...

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

https://www.moonofalabama.org/2023/07/washington-post-still-covers-up-us-war-crimes-and-use-of-biological-weapons.html or https://www.moonofalabama.org/2023/07/washington-post-still-covers-up-us-war-crimes-and-use-of-biological-weapons.html ;

Victims, referred to in Japanese as “marutas,” or wooden logs, were infected with typhus, typhoid, cholera, anthrax and the plague with the goal of perfecting biological weapons. Some prisoners were then vivisected without anesthetic so that researchers could observe the effects of the disease on the human body.

“I cut him open from the chest to the stomach, and he screamed terribly, and his face was all twisted in agony. He made this unimaginable sound, he was screaming so horribly. But then finally he stopped,” one unnamed member of the unit told the New York Times in 1995, recalling a victim who had been infected with the plague. “This was all in a day’s work for the surgeons, but it really left an impression on me because it was my first time.”

Several thousand people, and maybe many more, were experimented to death by the unit.

When the second world war was over Unit 731 members were supposed to be put on trial for the war crimes they had committed. The U.S. military stopped that as it had planned to use what Unit 731 had learned for its own wars:

The same year that Mr. Morimura’s book was released, an American journalist, John W. Powell, wrote in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists that the U.S. government had granted immunity to members of Unit 731 in exchange for the laboratory records from their research. Mr. Morimura alleged the same. For years, the United States dismissed reports of the unit’s experiments as Cold War propaganda.

There is no further mentioning of this in the rest of the Washington Post obit.

The reader is left hanging without learning if those U.S. government claims of 'Cold War propaganda' were true or false.

The U.S. did of course do what had been alleged. Documents were released that proved it. The U.S. had done much more.

The Post also repeats false U.S. claims that the Japanese government had hindered war crime trials against the units members:

However, according to U.S. officials, the Japanese government continued to decline to assist American efforts to place perpetrators on a list of war criminals prohibited from entering the United States. Ishii lived in freedom until he died of throat cancer in 1959. The Times reported that other Unit 731 veterans became governor of Tokyo, president of the Japan Medical Association and chief of the Japanese Olympic Committee.

It was the U.S. government, not the Japanese one, which gave immunity to Unit 731 members. It even paid them high amounts for their knowledge:

The US government offered full political immunity to high-ranking officials who were instrumental in perpetrating crimes against humanity, in exchange of the data about their experiments. Among those was Shiro Ishii, the commander of Unit 731. During the cover-up operation, the U.S. government paid money to obtain data on human experiments conducted in China, according to two declassified U.S. government documents.

The total amount paid to unnamed former members of the infamous unit was somewhere between 150,000 yen to 200,000 yen. An amount of 200,000 yen at that time is the equivalent of 20 million yen to 40 million yen today.

40 million yen today are the equivalent of $284,000. Nicer to have than not to have ...

The U.S. military used the knowledge gained from Unit 731 to developed a number of biological weapons and to test them, allegedly also on humans. It even used those weapons, like Unit 731, during the war against North Korea and China.

As Jeffrey Kaye, who has long studied the case, writes:

A preponderance of the evidence over the past couple of years has established that the U.S. used biological weapons in its war with North Korea and China in the early 1950s. This is based on CIADepartment of Defense and other government documents, as well as a close reading of the confessions of twenty-five U.S. airmen. It is time now to move on to an examination of how the U.S. pulled off the operation.

The story that follows documents what seems like an unsuccessful attempt by Air Force flyers to tip off the press and government officials to the secret U.S germ warfare campaign then underway in Korea and Northeast China. This attempt at military whistleblowing allows for a wider consideration today of the evidence surrounding the germ warfare charges, especially how the bioattacks were organized.

By repeating the U.S. government false claims of 'Cold War propaganda', by not correcting it and by repeating false U.S. statements which accuse the Japanese government of hindering the war crime trials, the Washington Post is covering up the U.S. war crimes that were based on the experiments Unit 731 had made.

DJ of course it is not that hard to put links to US bio-labs in Ukraine...

The movie Oppenheimer about the "father of the atomic bomb" focuses on J. Robert Oppenheimer's conflicted feelings about the weapons of mass destruction he helped unleash on the world, and how officials ignored those concerns after World War II as the Cold War started an arms race. Journalist Greg Mitchell says that while the film is well made and worth seeing, "the omissions are quite serious." He says there is little mention of the dangers of radiation and no focus on the impact of the bomb on its victims in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The film also does not question the necessity of using the bomb in the first place, upholding the "official narrative … that has held sway since 1945," says Mitchell.

DJ...https://www.theguardian.com/world/2004/sep/25/usa.secondworldwar or https://www.theguardian.com/world/2004/sep/25/usa.secondworldwar ;

George Bush's grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush, was a director and shareholder of companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany.

The evidence has also prompted one former US Nazi war crimes prosecutor to argue that the late senator's action should have been grounds for prosecution for giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

The debate over Prescott Bush's behaviour has been bubbling under the surface for some time. There has been a steady internet chatter about the "Bush/Nazi" connection, much of it inaccurate and unfair. But the new documents, many of which were only declassified last year, show that even after America had entered the war and when there was already significant information about the Nazis' plans and policies, he worked for and profited from companies closely involved with the very German businesses that financed Hitler's rise to power. It has also been suggested that the money he made from these dealings helped to establish the Bush family fortune and set up its political dynasty.

Remarkably, little of Bush's dealings with Germany has received public scrutiny, partly because of the secret status of the documentation involving him. But now the multibillion dollar legal action for damages by two Holocaust survivors against the Bush family, and the imminent publication of three books on the subject are threatening to make Prescott Bush's business history an uncomfortable issue for his grandson, George W, as he seeks re-election.

While there is no suggestion that Prescott Bush was sympathetic to the Nazi cause, the documents reveal that the firm he worked for, Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH), acted as a US base for the German industrialist, Fritz Thyssen, who helped finance Hitler in the 1930s before falling out with him at the end of the decade. The Guardian has seen evidence that shows Bush was the director of the New York-based Union Banking Corporation (UBC) that represented Thyssen's US interests and he continued to work for the bank after America entered the war.

one could almost claim the US used hitler to destroy the UK global dominance....
