I would like to go to my family doctor next week and ask that he give a 90 day extra supply of my family meds. I know that in the past I've read a article from an official saying that a 90 day supply would be prudent, and now I can't find it. We have several health problems that would be perhaps critical if we were unable to take our daily meds. If I can find this again, I plan to print it off and make it available for all of my extended family to show to their doctors. I've tried doing a web search, with no success. Any help you can give will be appreciated.

Tell them you want to order your meds by mail. Many HMOs have a mail order option for obtaining prescriptions now that is a cost savings for patients (usually 3 months for only 1 or 2 months copay). Just tell them you want to do things that way. They should go for it without question.
