If your preps are completed, then please consider something else. If you have a little extra money, instead of giving to the church and other causes, put the money toward buying some extra supplies for people. Go to Costco and spend $40.0 - $50.00 and buy a side supply of rice and beans, or whatever, and designate this new mini stockpile to help somebody. Just create a little tiny area ,if you have any space still available at all lol, and create a special emergency supply for someone else. Get a couple of big bags of rice and beans. $40.00 at Costco could save lives in the long run. You would not believe how much you can buy there for $40.00. LOL.

We have done this. It would crush me beyond words to have to turn someone away.

I am going to do up baggies..hand out one..with some flour rice and barley...rotate your items..but the rice and flur and stuff and put into to your supplies and then I am goig to baggie up the older stuff(not that it is bad..I will be using some of this myself also) and you have to remember I have been prepping for 3 years. So it would be good for me to rotate some of the preps...

If this pandemic hits and if I have to have a birthday party during the pandemic for anybody in my household, I think I will hand out rice, romano beans and a can of tomato soup in the loot bags. |

We have had a thread about this before and I still think it is very difficult. I have enough food and things to last me about 9 - 10 months. No need to go to a store, nothing. I know my neighbours and family have not prepared at all (), even though I talked about it with them. Do I share my supplies with them? And to what extent? Direct neighbours plus family makes 10 people. I could keep them all fed for about 3 weeks and then my supplies would be gone. Should I do that when it gets really bad and than perhaps starve with them? Or should I keep my mouth shut and my door closed and pretent I don't have anything too? (they don't know about my stash.) Can I live with myself afterwards if I do not help them....? Or will I just be glad to be alive and think that it was their own fault because they did not prepare when they had the chance? Sigh, these are the things that keep me awake at night.... Marjo |

Marjo, When Albert posted about bringing in extra to share, that was over and above what our needs were...truly extra. Your situation is not extra unless you have a garden up and running. I will have thus my years supply of food will be replaced and/or augmented by fresh produce. I would never endanger my family by helping people that chose to ignore warnings. The information is out there, all over the place. If people don't know about BF it's because they CHOOSE not to know. So they will be winnowed early. But I can't fault people for not laying in a years supply, they aren't being told to do that. Heck, maybe that will change on Tuesday. I sure hope Oprah tells people they need more that a few weeks worth of supplies. Anyway, I ramble! Your family comes first. Others only after that. Nothing to feel guilty about. They were told. |

Thanks SZ. Marjo, that's for people who are way ahead of the game and for people that have a lot of extra money. It's directed at the people who are in a position to do it. You don't want to set aside supplies like this unless you already have around 12 - 18 months yourself. Maybe the people who have more money than others can buy a little extra? In your case Marjo, at the moment, don't plan on sharing your current supplies. I wouldn't even tell anybody. hehehe |

Marjo, I have often thought about the same thing. I have one set of neighbors which have no doubt watched me haul in boxes of canned vegetables and chili from the trunk of my car. They know I take advantage of super sale items and often borrow foodstuffs when they have their big Sunday family dinner. I can't be rude but if things get bad, I will just give them the less desirable canned goods such as carrots and brussel sprouts (no offense to lovers of these vegetables). I'm definitely keeping the chili, oysters, canned hams and powdered milk as a reward for my diligence.
