Just got back from having braces put on my DD- 10 yrs old.

While going over the contract with the office manager, she points out that if we stopped coming in for appointments, etc, the treatment wouldn't work, a fee would be assessed, etc...

I took the opportunity to ask her whether they had a pandemic flu plan in place and what we should do in the event it occurs.  Afterall, we have just placed permanent metal in my daughter's mouth.  What if we CAN'T come in for adjustments, breakage, etc..?

She looked at my like I was a bit nuts, but did say she knew it had been in the news.  No, they didn't have a policy as she would know since she is the office manager.  Hopefully, they will address this issue.

Anyone else out there with braces?  I'm completely new to these things and don't know the ins and outs of them.

Thanks,
s

I have two children in braces. They both have an additional 6 months left on their contract. Thank you for bringing this up as I hadn't stopped to consider it. First thing Monday morning I will be calling them to inquire. Thanks for your insight!

I have one in braces and I didn't even think about this, thank you Sand for posting this.....I will ask at his next appointment  what happens if we can't come in to have the braces removed.....Thank goodness I've paid his braces off so won't have to worry about being billed.   Clap    I'm going to ask how I could remove them without causing damage to his teeth, he has 6 months left on wearing them hopefully they will be off before anything happens.

Sand,  I have been a long time lurker of this site and some how I missed this topic 2 months ago LOL...but  it still amazes me that someone can come up with something I hadn't thought about  Thumbs Up

I have a 14 year old who was supposed to get his braces this summer.  He qualified thru a program because his lower jaw is  smaller than his upper jaw.  But I have decided to hold off on the braces.  I was worried about what I would do if we could not get to the orthodontist.
