A mosquito in Goodlettsville has tested positive for West Nile virus. According to a Facebook release from the City of Goodlettsville, the Tennessee Department of Health has confirmed that a single mosquito out of several mosquito pools collected in the city has tested positive for the virus. The sampling was collected from the area where Madison Creek intersects with Manskers Creek adjacent to Moss-Wright Park. There have been no reports of any human cases of the disease in the city, the release states. "As sporadic rains continue in the area, residents are reminded that it only takes a teaspoon of water to create breeding conditions around your home,." the release states. "Goodlettsville residents are urged to 'tip and toss' items outside their homes frequently, to prevent stagnant water which could result in mosquito breeding." Residents should also follow these tips.
