It has just emerged that measles infections drop a person's immune response for 3 years after infection. Although measles may be a particularily nasty example of such disease behaviours, it is not unique.

It turns out that sepsis deaths can be reduced by 40% (40%!!!) if the patient sees an infectious disease specialist within 12 hours of hospital admission.
