My dad would put an onion in each window of the house when I was a young boy to fight off the flu. As cheep as onions are, dont you think it is worth a try. Take one to work with you also and put it on your desk, under your desk, where ever you feel secure. You never know, it could work and certainly worth a try. Probably would be a good idea to eat a few also.

Garlic is used in the former Soviet Union as a type of anti biotic, but it is mainly a body purifier.
I had a friend of mine who was a nurse say that if you ate onion with meat it would help to keep the arteries clean of fats. Other then that, I agree with Jody, the scent alone would maybe keep the infected and everyone else far enough away from you that you would not catch anything.

I'm picturing a guy/lady at the office surrounded by onions...
also if you cut them open.. it works even better.
..........
Something German people did... they mixed onions with honey for the throat.. grated them finely.

Just wear a giant 10 pound Garlic Necklace and make sure to peel them to increase the smell. People will stay plenty far away from you. Or dress up like a dirty bum and you'll have a 20 foot force field to protect you. Plus as an added bonus, if you get too close to someone they will throw money at you to keep you away. :) |

In the 1918 flu, my grandfather worked for the local mortician and they would go out and pick up the dead and take them out of houses. I know it was a rotten job, but someone had to do it. He never got the flu, nor did the mortician. Once again ONION to the rescue. They would keep a slice of onion in their mouth preferably under their tongue and that kept them safe. He had 8 children and non in the family contacted the flu. And, everyone knows garlic only works for vampires.

Just thought I would mention my mom would dice up an onion and wrap it with cloth and place it on my sprained ankles during basketball season. Believe it or not it did work. I played a great game of B-ball the very next day! Of course I had to wash my feet quite a few times before I ever put my high tops on Tio.
