PLEASE HELP ME OUT HERE, BUT ARE THEY DISREGARDING THE H5N1 POSSIBILITY WITH THAT MAN ONLY BECAUSE THERE WAS NO HISTORY OF POULTRY CONTACT? BECAUSE THAT STORY SOUNDS LIKE IT SHOULD SEND SOME RED FLAGS TO PEOPLE. OR AM I JUST BEING PARANOID? |

Commentary from Dr. Niman: The hospitalization of relatives of the suspected fatal bird flu case in western India is cause for concern. Initial media reports indicated that the index case tested positive for bird flu. Later reports indicated he was not a bird flu case because of a lack of contact with birds. |

I've said this somewhere else about this article - the young man nor his family members may have had direct contact with poultry but if they are the owners of this large poultry farm their servants and the families of these workers surely have had contact with the poultry and may be shedding the virus all over the place - for instance - food preperation for the family?
