Iran is already fighting (by proxy) Saudi Arabia in Yemen and Syria. The war in Yemen has crossed the border with Saudi Arabia. Sunni-states (gulf states, Pakistan, Sudan etc) might consider the shia-form of Islam such a treath that war could be the next step.

From superstation: Last night, Sudan, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) cut-off Diplomatic ties with Iran.

When Diplomatic relations get shut-off, it usually means war is about to get turned on.  The sides seem to be forming.
