It is true that I do not like Trump much.  Unlike most anti-Trumpers I do not see him as all bad.  Economically his policies make some sense.  My arguments against them are on humanitarian grounds, not economic ones.  Jobless figures are falling, business is booming and homeland security is getting along OK-ish.  The price of this is high - too high in my opinion - but I can see the point.

However, his attitude to the press is (indefensible, reprehensible, reminiscent of Gobbels in the 30s, un- no counter productive and childish - I tried out all those words and none were bad enough) *****!

The press were colossally unkind to all his predesessors.  They took this with stoicism and humility, often learning and growing in stature from what was said.  Trump's accusations of "Fake news" levelled against reputable agencies with oversight (which Twitter lacks) has muddied the waters to the point where things like this appear - AND COST LIVES!!!

"A dangerous fake news story about flu shots spread like a virus on Facebook

With recent moves like changing its News Feed algorithm to better surface posts from users’ friends and family, Facebook is paying lip service to the idea that it wants to crack down on the spread of fake news. And it might well work over time. But according to Media Matters for America, a recent false news story about the deadly flu epidemic has been spreading like wildfire on the social network.

The story, posted earlier this week by YourNewsWire, suggested that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control had determined that this year’s flu shot was responsible for many flu-related deaths. In fact, the CDC has said nothing of the kind, and is encouraging people to get a flu shot. Snopes debunked the post soon after it went live.

But the YourNewsWire story resonated with a lot of nervous people on Facebook, generating more than 176,000 engagements there, Media Matters wrote, citing data from BuzzSumo. Facebook may have unverified one of the hoax publication’s two pages, but it clearly hasn’t been able to stop people from sharing the fake news site’s stories. And in a case like this one, where some people may have read the story and chosen not to get a flu shot, clickbait articles can put people’s lives at risk.DT"

Whatever else he gets right or wrong, for me, his abuse of the media is beyond redemption or forgiveness.  For the unvaccinated, yes, but mostly for the clandestine shadow thrown over Washington.  The dirtiest deeds are done in the dark.  It worked well for Hitler.  Most people have taken that as a dark and unplesant lesson from history.  Trump seems to have taken it as a blueprint for success.
