My fall garden is doing ok, we still have lettuce and spinach growing. The green beans didn't make it and we have had a couple of freezes and the tomatoes are done, we got one last batch of green tomatoes last weekend to make fried green tomatoes before the last freeze. For the spinach and lettuce, I had bought this thing called a "planket" a couple of years ago on markdown at the end of the season, and you cover plants to keep from freezing and it's like a blanket but made of a mesh like material. Seems to work, the lettuce and spinach haven't frozen yet. What is everyone else doing?

November is the time when I start to stock up for Christmas. If there is a crisis then it is good to have a few items for celebration, even if they are less than usual.

So English style fruit cake and Christmas pudding are baked/steamed and in the pantry.

ps. According to tradition today is "Stir-up Sunday" when the Christmas pudding is stirred up. [That is the first Sunday before Advent]

pps. Also small silver coins (like the 6d and 3d coins) were added for luck. One could do this with some other small coins to encourage people to hold some silver! [Note the coins were 6 pence and 3 pence, with the 'd' coming from the Latin name for a small coin.
