Preparing for the Coming Influenza Pandemic
By Grattan Woodson, MD, FACP
Edited by David Jodrey, PhD 7 Oct 2005 - REVISED 12/20/05
........................Dr. Woodson’s website
"Updates will be posted to ths site"
Excerpts from The Doctor's Guide.....
"...Sore throats also respond well to ibuprofen or acetaminophen...." "14 For the purposes of this guide, ibuprofen means aspirin, Advil, Aleve, ibuprofen, or Nuprin since they are all alike. ..."
....................................................................................................................................................... I like this guide very much.
But is this a good idea?
"...ibuprofen means aspirin..."
I read we are not supposed to give aspirin due to Reyes.
Someone please confirm.

Anharra I can't remember where but I have read on several occasion where it says not to give aspirins during the flu. I still have the sticky note taped to my desk in big letters reminding me not to take aspirins or give them to anyone that has the flu. I just ordered several of Dr. Woodson's books to give to family and friends if they ever decide to prepare for bird flu.

Thank you Miss.Mama. I saw a PBS special on the devastation wrought by Katrina. It was shown how several previous hurricanes had wiped clear much of the protective barrier reef, much information was given that I had not known before, on the effects of the changes in climate and the natural land/sea scape. It was an eye opener.

Making preparation count: lessons from the avian inf luenza outbreak in Turkey Read Full Text Here...
Excerpt-
4. Health care personnel at risk of infection must be protected, and encouraged to keep
working. Yüzüncü Yıl University Hospital reported that 14 nurses called in sick, reporting side-eff ects from the oseltamivir they were given to prevent their contracting avian infl uenza from the patients for whom they were caring. Concerns were raised about whether the calls were due more to side-eff ects or to the stress and anxiety related to caring for avian influenza patients. |
