There is fear that the United States might default. If they do, there is going to be a SERIOUS problem. It's why I say, and have said, that the budgetary conversation involving the debt limit is *FAR* more important than the stupid 0babacare fiasco. I'd even go so far as to say that the budget conversation eclipses the various influenza strains making the rounds. The day, hour, minute and second the welfare checks stop or aren't worth the paper they're written on will be the day the cities burn. And not only are we heading there, under this catastrophe of an administration, we're accelerating! At this point the interest rate is something absurdly low, like 0.1%. If they increased it to a paltry 3%, government's total revenue would only cover about 80% of the interest on the national debt. 3% is actually considered low interest rates. Back in the early eighties it was 11%. At that point, I don't even think our GDP would cover the interest alone. If this ship starts sinking to the point that there are bank runs, it's going to get ugly. I don't think a run on banks in Canada is in the cards ..but to be safe I have taken kgs of silver out and have stored in a "safe place".Who know what going to happen..even here in Canada..we are very tied to your economy..RC ------------- RC has nothing on me! |

The Conspiracy theorists have been right on more things than I'd like to admit to... Whoever thought that the NSA spying on Americans would be as deep as it is? I mean we all knew that they were looking at everything, but we never had undeniable proof. Now we do. We even found out that our spy agencies have not only been spying on ordinary Americans like crazy, but people in just about every other country on Earth! They've bugged Embassies, recorded every email, and listened in and recorded millions of phonecalls. And that's just on *OUR* soil! Whoever thought that Americans would be running to Russia seeking asylum? Mind boggling. Whoever thought that our President and Attorney General would be found undeniably linked to an attempted false flag incident where they would sell illegal firearms to Mexican criminals (A Federal offense) to increase the amount of them in Criminal hands so they could make a case for disarming the American Public? Probably a smart idea. I believe, but could be wrong, that Canadian currency is backed by American dollars. If we go down, your currency takes a dump too. Many on this site disagree about diffrent issues, but I think many smell the same blood in the water and are watching for potential disasters of many kinds. Not much surprises me anymore.... That said, most ppl here will do much betted than the rest of the sheep. One of our hobbies is staying informed! As far as the watchlist words and the NSA watching us watch them, just put those words on every website, email, and text etc, in a .01 font and they would ***** a brick, how could they sift through it all.... give the hampsters a wheel..... Have mostly been lurking on this thread, but it is closely tied to my thread on a possible stock market crash. Any thief knows the person making a withdrawal cannot get more than $500 at a time on average. He must then consider if the crime is worth the risk. Comment: Personally, I think an imposed limit severely lowering the amount which could be withdrawn from an ATM as well a requiring 7 days notice to make a withdrawal, would cause a run on the banks. Perhaps a one day run would not shut them down, but continuous depletion of the available cash over a 30 day period would go a long way towards making such a thing possible.
