Of course Zika-virus, (Lyme disease etc.) war in/for Syria, food-crisis etc. all are related to climate change. We have now entered the "climate-collapse"phase. Sealevel-rise going faster than the last 2800 years at least and moving up. Temperature-rise something of 0.2 to 0.4 degrees celsius per year. Methane-release melting ice and snow in the Arctic. It is a matter of time before methane makes the Arctic the hottest spot on this planet-if we do not have "super-methane-eruptions"of kilotons in one step (comparable with a meteorite crashing on Earth-methane eruptions when large enough will cause earthquakes).
According to Guy McPherson humans could lose their habitat by 2024. Already foodproduction and sealife are effected by climate change. Oceantemperature is at such a level that hurricanes can become "normal" just like mega-draughts.
Another matter of total insanity is the war between "the west" (US, NATO, Gulf States, Japan etc) and "the east" (Russia, Iran, China). Turkey and Saudi Arabia have been funding IS etc. in "religious terms" the governing elite of those countries is comparable with IS.
The "west" has been selling weapons for billions of € or $ to those countries. KSA did get a "legion of honor" medal from France for "their fight against (IS) terror". Turkey is getting billions of € from the EU for "solving the refugee-crisis" they were responsible for in the first place. (Turkey also wants to become an EU-member and easy travel to the EU for all people with Turkish papers-so we (the EU) will get the refugees from Turkey in another way).
Of course North Korea "showing" it has nuclear weapons https://www.superstation95.com/index.php/money/1000 - https://www.superstation95.com/index.php/money/1000 that can reach the US and the South China Sea crisis "have nothing to do with each other. Pakistan (supporting the Taliban in Afghanistan, sheltering Osama bin Laden for years-US "friend") and India can have another war. http://climatecrocks.com/2016/03/08/india-pakistan-nuclear-neighbors-in-clmiate-crosshairs/ - http://climatecrocks.com/2016/03/08/india-pakistan-nuclear-neighbors-in-clmiate-crosshairs/
Economic collapse with "peak-debt" seems unavoidable. Hyperinflation on a global scale will be the logical outcome of all kinds of "quatitive easing".
The "main news" is about the lenght of body-parts of a criminal that could become president of the US.

North Korea just doing what the Chinese tell them to do ,China is in expantion mode,
HONG KONG: When the aircraft carrier John C Stennis and four other US warships sailed into the South China Sea last week for what were described as routine exercises, the message was clear: the United States is the dominant military power in the region and plans to keep it that way.But numerous Chinese naval ships were operating nearby, the US navy said, noticeably more than in past years. A Chinese officer told the state-run news media that the ships were there to "monitor, identify, follow and expel" foreign vessels and aircraft, depending on how close they came "to our islands."The encounter, which passed without incident, was the latest episode in a wary stand-off between the United States and China over two contested island chains known as the Paracels and the Spratlys.Since taking office three years ago, President Xi Jinping has used the isles to expand China's military footprint in the region, taking one step after another to build and equip outposts far from the Chinese mainland over protests from its neighbors and from Washington. The scale of the multibillion-dollar effort has raised tensions in the region and strengthened China's disputed claim to the entirety of the South China Sea, home to some of the world's busiest shipping lanes. The build-up has also challenged the military status quo in the Western Pacific since the end of World War II, bringing China closer to its goal of establishing a security buffer extending far from its coast — a dream of Chinese strategists since the Korean War.READ ALSO: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/rest-of-world/US-urges-wider-challenge-to-Chinas-claims-in-South-China-Sea/articleshow/51088275.cms - US urges wider challenge to China's claims in South China Sea "China wants a bathtub," said Marc Lanteigne, a senior research fellow at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs who studies Chinese foreign policy, drawing a comparison with US dominance in the Caribbean. "China wants waters that are theirs, that they can operate military and police vessels in, without having to worry about the presence of the US or the Philippines or Vietnamese or Indian naval forces."The build-up has proceeded incrementally but remarkably swiftly given that China and its neighbors have been locked in a stalemate over the islands that has simmered for decades. Dredging of sand to build artificial islands atop coral reefs in the Spratlys began as early as 2014 but accelerated last year, and the isles now feature deepwater harbors and long runways suitable for warships and fighter jets.Handout satellite photos shows a before-and-after view of Chinese construction on Fiery Cross Reef in the Spratly Islands in the disputed South China sea. (CNES, Distribution Airbus DS, via IHS via NYT)Then surface-to-air missile batteries appeared last month in the Paracels, more than 300 miles to the north. Now satellite photos show what seem to be powerful radar facilities, potentially extending the kill zone of missiles on the Chinese mainland that are devised to sink aircraft carriers. The new fortifications pose little threat to the US military, which could easily destroy them in a conflict. But US officials are increasingly worried that the build-up, if unchecked, will give China de facto control of an expanse of sea the size of Mexico and military superiority over neighbors with competing claims to the waters. That, some say, could prompt a regional arms race and increase the risk of conflict. While officials in Washington say China is nowhere near gaining the capacity to keep US forces out of the South China Sea, analysts say the build-up will make it more difficult for the US navy to quickly defend allies with weaker militaries, like the Philippines. The deployment of fighter jets, anti-ship missiles and more powerful radar in particular could embolden the Chinese Navy while giving US commanders pause, they said.READ ALSO: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/china/Wont-budge-on-South-China-Sea-sovereignty-China/articleshow/51302614.cms - Won't budge on South China Sea sovereignty, Beijing says Testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee last month, Admiral Harry B Harris Jr, commander of the United States Pacific Command, warned that China's actions were "changing the operational landscape in the South China Sea." And in written answers submitted to the committee, the Obama administration's top intelligence official, James R Clapper, forecast that China would "have significant capacity to quickly project substantial military power to the region" by early next year.Although China has not finished construction, he wrote, it can already deploy fighter aircraft, surface-to-air missiles, coastal defense cruise missiles as well as large warships and sizable Coast Guard vessels to the new artificial islands in the Spratlys.Clapper also confirmed that military radar had been installed more than 600 miles from the Chinese island province of Hainan on Cuarteron Reef, the southernmost of the seven artificial islets. In theory, that could improve the ability of China's so-called carrier-killer missile, the DF-21D, to strike faraway targets and complicate US navy efforts to develop countermeasures against it.Last month, Vietnam lodged a formal protest after satellite photos indicated that China had deployed HQ-9 surface-to-air missile batteries on the largest island in the Paracels, Woody Island. Vietnam claims both the Paracels and the Spratlys, and nationalist sentiment has been running high since the appearance of a Chinese oil drilling platform near the Paracels led to anti-Chinese demonstrations and riots two years ago.China's build-up in the Spratlys has also angered the Philippines. Chinese forces wrested control of Scarborough Shoal in the Spratlys from the Philippines after an extended stand-off four years ago, a move that President Benigno S Aquino III later compared to Nazi Germany's annexation of Czechoslovakia.READ ALSO: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/china/China-sends-missiles-to-contested-South-China-Sea-island-Taiwan/articleshow/51018641.cms - China sends missiles to contested South China Sea island Senator John McCain, the Republican chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, warned recently that China seemed poised to expel Philippine forces from another outpost and urged the Obama administration to clarify how it would respond. Last month, Chinese vessels drew protests by blocking Philippine fishing boats from reaching a disputed atoll.Analysts said the build-up had made it easier for Chinese ships to operate for long periods in the Spratlys without returning to the Chinese mainland."Now Chinese ships can stay out in the Spratlys whenever they want, pretty confidently," said Gregory B Poling, director of the Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington.Poling said the new radar installations on Cuarteron Reef could give China the ability to see over the horizon and perhaps track targets as far away as the vital Malacca Strait hundreds of miles to the southwest. At his summit meeting with President Barack Obama in September, Xi pledged not to "pursue militarization" of the Spratlys, but he did not include the Paracels, and Beijing has since insisted that it is entitled to "limited defensive facilities" across the South China Sea, comparing them to United States bases in Hawaii.Chinese analysts argue that the build-up preserves peace by deterring others with territorial claims to the sea, including Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Taiwan. "The main reason for the construction is to tell other countries to stop their provocations, because if they continue to push, we have the capability to push back," said Xu Liping, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.READ ALSO: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/china/China-strongly-condemns-US-for-sending-warship-near-island-in-South-China-Sea/articleshow/50794569.cms - China strongly condemns US for sending warship near island in disputed sea US officials said they expected China to build large fuel storage tanks on the islands next, which would allow its fighter jets to remain in the region longer, and then to declare an "air defense identification zone" over the South China Sea as it did for a contested part of the East China Sea in late 2013.China claimed the right to require aircraft entering the zone to identify themselves and to take military action against those that did not follow orders. Japan and the United States refused to recognize the claim or cooperate. The Obama administration has struggled, however, to come up with a policy to slow or stop what it has called China's militarization of the South China Sea.- http://ade.clmbtech.com/evnt/click.htm?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.icicibank.com%2Fnri-banking%2Fmoney_transfer%2Fpromo%2Fgeneric-promo-aus%2Findex.html%3Frefsite%3DTOIET_NativeAd_Ad2_AUS%26adunit%3DBanners%26channel%3DDisplay%26campaign%3DICICIBankM2i_AUS_TOIET_Native_Ad2_Dec15%26utm_medium%3DBanner%26utm_content%3DICICIBankM2i_AUS_TOIET_Native_Ad2_Dec15%26utm_campaign%3DICICIBankM2i_AUS_TOIET_Native_Ad2_Dec15%26CTN%3D4&r=ZTM4NjgwZDEtMjAxOS00Y2U0LWFkMWItNDI0ZDI1MDk4MTEyLTI1b3FzOjEyOTE0Njo6NDc3MTA2NToxOjMwNzkyMDo3MzM6aHR0cCUzQSUyRiUyRnRpbWVzb2ZpbmRpYS5pbmRpYXRpbWVzLmNvbSUyRndvcmxkJTJGY2hpbmElMkZTdGVwLWJ5LXN0ZXAtQ2hpbmEtZXhwYW5kcy1pdHMtbWlsaXRhcnktaW4tZGlzcHV0ZWQtc2VhJTJGYXJ0aWNsZXNob3clMkY1MTMzMzUwOS5jbXM6NDA2OjQ0LjA6MDo1MTMzMzUwOTE6MToxNDYzOjA6MjY1ODozOjI6MDoxOTYwNjM6MTk2MDQ3OjAuMDowOjA">Money2India-Send more to India with our competitive ratesICICI Bank Ltd

Luke 21King James Version (KJV)25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

For trade by now South Korea is more important for China. The Russian role in North Korea was limited-as far as I know-due to the conflicts between China and the former Soviet Union. North Korea could "surprise us" (both in a negative way-starting a war with South Korea or in a positive way-starting reunification talks-the way East- and West-Germany reunited. From an other superstation article https://www.superstation95.com/index.php/world/1016 - https://www.superstation95.com/index.php/world/1016
Those new sanctions are having a severe effect upon North Korea, which has found itself unable to engage in most foreign trade and, worse, unable to engage in financial transactions! Cutting-off access to finances wipes out North Korea's access to hard cash, so they are now going broke. Among the most serious of the new sanctions is the ban on importation of aviation fuel. Without aviation fuel coming into the country,North Korea grows weaker as each day passes. In order to have a civilian air transport system, the government must fly aircraft. Each time they do, it draws down on the supply of aviation fuel they have, leaving less for military use. Unable to engage in foreign trade, unable to get hard cash from foreign transactions, and unable to fuel its aircraft, the North Korean regime of Kim Jung Un absolutely, positively, without any doubt whatsoever, will collapse. There is no way to avoid it.

I once worked in child-care. Basic rules on inter-human relationships, how to behave....when North Korea threatens the world it reminds me of those day taking care of 0 to 4 years old.
https://www.superstation95.com/index.php/world/1083 - https://www.superstation95.com/index.php/world/1083 https://www.superstation95.com/index.php/world/1082 - https://www.superstation95.com/index.php/world/1082 https://www.superstation95.com/index.php/world/1079 - https://www.superstation95.com/index.php/world/1079
North Korea may be in the corner and able to do something very dramatic. When you have a person in that position do you than make threats at that person or try to de-escalate ? How to deal with a "mad-man"? And there are so many "mad-men" in dangerous positions capable of doing crazy things on global scale.....(King Salman of KSA, Erdogan and enough other persons, the EU in a crisis and thinking of taking Ukraine, Turkey, Georgia as new members-so making the crisis even worse, central banking creating unpayable debts)
Donald Trump once blamed climate change on the Chinese "as a joke". The politicians do not have a basic idea of how big the problem is-being paid by the oil companies, banks, weapons-producers. http://paulbeckwith.net/2016/03/26/abrupt-climate-change-emergency/ - http://paulbeckwith.net/2016/03/26/abrupt-climate-change-emergency/ Paul Beckwith from the University of Ottawa-Canada tries to think in solutions.
Climate change is a fact. It is escalating. According to http://guymcpherson.com/ - http://guymcpherson.com/ "we are already dead". That is somethingh I want to deny.
When you take the "hockystick model" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hockey_stick_graph - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hockey_stick_graph increase in CO2, methane etc means temperature rise wich means sea-level rise. There are many things the International Panel on Climate Change do different than climate-scientists. The IPCC ignores methane and include non-existing geo-engenering to decrease CO2 levels. The 1,5 to 2 degrees C temperature rise is in their models for economic reasons.
The IPCC is still talking about sealevel-rise of less then a meter by 2100, "limited temperature rise" (by using methods to decrease CO2 that are not there yet).
A large group of scientist http://ameg.me/ - http://ameg.me/ give good reasons to say that we should take drastic measures now. The essential problem/question is did we already pass the point of no return to stop the most dramatic effects of climate change.
In my idea even when we already went (much) to far we should do everything we can to limit the damage.

Good info about the needed changes and how hard it will be to make those changes.
http://robinwestenra.blogspot.nl/ - http://robinwestenra.blogspot.nl/
Even if we, finally, did decide to stop using fossil fuel and accept (what Einstein already said: nuclear energy is a stupid way to boil water) that nuclear energy only worsens the risks going for alternatives will be very hard.
To do much more with much less energy seems for me the best way. Better isolation to keep houses warm. More use of public transport and bikes in the transport sector. Decrease of meat-production and consumption (also good to deal with obesitas and anti-biotics).
I do want to keep some hope that there will be a good future for next generations, that we did not "consume" their future. All we can leave behind should be more than debts, war, and a planet that is to hot to produce enough food.

By 2100 a sealevel-rise of 2 metres according to a new http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v531/n7596/full/nature17145.html - http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v531/n7596/full/nature17145.html study. By 2025 there will be no more UK-Dr Guy Mc Pherson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6AVjL4QYvk - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6AVjL4QYvk due to methane related abrupt climate change.
Sealevelrise will not be the main cause of flooding, extreme rain (and snow) will do that-increasingly and we are already in that proces. Stormsurges will mean that the sealevelrise will not go smoothly.
Flooding does mean nuclear disaster, just like extreme drought does. Abrupt climate change means (widespread) nuclear disaster. That is unavoidable, even when all (490) nuclear plants would stop now. It can take up to 50 years to completely demolish a nuclear plant.

From mhhensel on facebook :Arctic Ice in the Laptev Sea breaking up 04 06 2016. What is under this area is very dangerous. The black areas in second picture is where likely torches are. This may be mantel methane. Here is a quote from my letter to the editor. "The well-known sources (of methane) are methane hydrates from the Arctic Ocean floor and methane coming from thawing permafrost. There is also another less well-known source. During the geologic history of the Arctic area, tectonic plates have spread, crashed into each other and subducted under one another. Geologists call the Arctic a tectonic plate junkyard. There are numerous fractures in the earth's crust there. A quote from earth scientist Malcolm Light: ‘Mantle methane formed from the reduction of oceanic carbonates by water in the presence of iron (II) oxides buried to depths of 100 km to 300 km in the Asthenosphere and at temperatures above 1200°C.’ This is a nonorganic source of methane formed near the earth's mantel. Katey Walter Anthony from the University of Alaska calls it geologic methane. Vast reservoirs of methane have been created by chemical reactions and stored near the mantle under a lot of pressure for millennia." Ice has plugged the cracks keeping the mantel methane from escaping. The plugs thawing out is not a good thing to happen. https://worldview.earthdata.nasa.gov/ - https://worldview.earthdata.nasa.gov/

The latest news is "not good" with a weatherstation in Greenland reporting 17C/60F "heatwave", a anormaly of close to 30 degrees C. This has to do with the jet-stream bringing much to warm air much to the north.
This far above norm temperature in parts of the Arctic means increased melt-giving a "blob" of cold (melting) water south of Greenland in the Atlantic. In parts of the northern Atlantic difference in sea-surface temperature can be up to 20 degrees C. These temperature-differences create "unstability in weathersystems". Warm water feeds hurricanes-some warn for "super-storms" with winds up to 300mph/500km/h. Recent history indicates that such extreme weather events can escalate in a very short time-frame-24/48 hrs.
Also warm seatemperatures mean those "superstorms" can go more northward than usual; The US, Canada, Europe see increasing chance for these kind of "superstorms".
Rising sealevel and extreme rain increase the chances for flooding. On the other side some parts may face extreme dry-long periods. Both extremes will influence food production, transport etc.
The chances for a nuclear accident-given that most atomic plants are old-safety costs money-is increasing as well. Both methane and CO2 levels are going much faster than any IPCC (including worst case scenario) did want to see.
This year is already seeing record high temperatures/heatwaves at several places (Australia, Thailand, India etc.) and much more is on its way.
Economics will get "overstretched" within a few years.
If societies did prepare for this foreseen disaster in the '60's most people could survive this "climate-chaos". Now humanity only can prepare-at best- as if they prepare for a colony on Venus (or something like that=only a very small group of humans can survive the coming events. Their duty has to be to make Earth suited for life again. We-as human species-did do the damage, so we have to undo that damage as good and soon as possible.
Politics can keep denying climate change-they will have to face a reality that will bring much public panic and anger.
Pressure release due to melting ice on Greenland will further destabilize to North American Craton-cause more earthquakes. Warmer seatemperatures is also effecting sea-ice in the Antarctic. That sea-ice was keeping land-ice (in west Antarctica) in place. Also increased winds play a (growing) role in eroding and transportation of land/sea ice towards the open sea. It is not just melt that is causing a decrease in ice and snow.
(I will try to put some sources to this story-proberbly in a new posting)

In a video, coinciding with a release of a revised version of http://www.atmos-chem-phys.net/16/3761/2016/acp-16-3761-2016.pdf - paper Hansen wrote with 18 other authors, Hansen warned of “feedbacks” between the oceans and ice sheets. He said that ice melt from Greenland “raises questions about how soon we’ll pass the point of no return in which we lock in consequences that cannot be reversed on any time scale that people care about.” Those consequences would include sea level rise of several metres, potentially in this century, if fossil fuel use continues at a high level. “That would mean the loss of all the world’s coastal cities,” Hansen warned. The climate scientist said that if Greenland fresh water from melting ice cools the North Atlantic by several degrees the resultant superstorms will be stronger than any in modern times.

In other words — atmospheric CO2 levels continue to climb into unprecedented ranges. Levels that are increasingly out-of-context scary. https://robertscribbler.com/2016/02/05/co2-rockets-to-405-6-ppm-a-level-not-seen-in-15-million-years/ - For we haven’t seen readings of this heat trapping gas hit so high in any time during at least the past 15 million years . 2016 Could See Atmospheric CO2 Increase by 3.1 to 5.1 Parts Per Million Above 2015 The Last Time CO2 Values Were So High Was During the Middle Miocene — 15 Million Years in the Earth’s Deep Past
By any yardstick, these are extreme annual rates of atmospheric CO2 increase. https://robertscribbler.com/2016/03/22/ten-times-faster-than-a-hothouse-extinction-human-carbon-emission-is-worst-in-at-least-66-million-years/ - Rates that are likely at least an order of magnitude faster than during the last hothouse extinction — the PETM — 55 million years ago . Just a few years ago, the scientific bodies of the world voiced serious concern about atmospheric CO2 levels equaling those seen during the Pliocene period — a geological epoch 3-5 million years ago when Earth temperatures were 2-3 C warmer than they are today and atmospheric CO2 levels ranged between 390 and 405 parts per million. But in just a brief interval, we’ve blown past that potential paleoclimate context and into another, more difficult, much warmer, world. A period further back into the great long ago when human civilization as it is today couldn’t have been imagined and a species called homo sapiens had millions of years yet to even begin to exist.

(Annual human carbon emissions are about 150 times that of all the volcanoes on the Earth, 10 times faster than a hothouse extinction that occurred 55.8 million years ago. Image source: http://rosarossaonline.org/2016/02/25/reducing-carbon-emission-could-prevent-thousands-of-deaths_87443 - La Rosa Rossa .) Let’s be very clear. The human fossil fuel emission is outrageous and unprecedented on geological timescales. An insult the Earth has likely never seen before. For the pace at which we are emitting carbon into the atmosphere is just flat out insane. We’ve known this for some time because the best of science can’t find any time in all of Earth’s geological history that produces a rate of atmospheric carbon accumulation equal to the one that’s happening now. The PETM Hothouse Extinction http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2016/03/160321-climate-change-petm-global-warming-carbon-emission-rate/ - The PETM was pretty amazingly bad . It set off a mass extinction in the oceans which wiped out half of all shellfish through the varied impacts of anoxia, acidification and coral bleaching. Its heat forcing was enough to completely reverse ocean circulation and set up a stratified ocean state. https://www.wunderground.com/climate/PETM.asp?MR=1 - Peatlands and forests went up in mass conflagrations . Terrible insect plagues swept the globe. The related extreme surface temperatures forced a mass poleward migration and widespread genetic alteration of mammals which were eventually reduced to dwarfism. https://robertscribbler.com/2016/03/22/ten-times-faster-than-a-hothouse-extinction-human-carbon-emission-is-worst-in-at-least-66-million-years/human-vs-petm/"> (Earlier studies estimated PETM emissions rates in the range of 1.7 billion tons of carbon per year. http://www.nature.com/ngeo/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/ngeo2681.html - A new Nature study finds PETM emissions to be even lower at 1.1 billion tons of carbon per year. This compares to a current human emission of 10 billion tons of carbon per year. A Human Hothouse Extinction Would be Far Worse On average, http://www.nature.com/ngeo/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/ngeo2681.html - over the PETM extinction event, rates of atmospheric carbon accumulation were found to be in the range of about 1.1 billion tons per year . By comparison, human carbon emissions during 2014 were about ten times this level at around 10 billion tons of hothouse gas hitting the atmosphere. As such, the new study finds that the velocity of the human carbon emission exceeds that of the Paleocene-Eocene hothouse extinction event by an order of magnitude (x10). http://www.nature.com/ngeo/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/ngeo2681.html - Study authors found that the large carbon emission occurred over the course of about 4,000 years . This spike in atmospheric carbon coincided with an approximate 5 degree Celsius spike in global temperatures in the 4,000 to 12,000 year time period. This implies a rate of warming of at most around 0.12 degrees Celsius every 100 years (or as little as 0.04 degrees Celsius per Century). https://www.wunderground.com/climate/PETM.asp?MR=1 - Other estimates put the rate of PETM warming at around 0.025 C per Century . Expected human warming between 1 and 5 degrees Celsius this Century is therefore about 10 to more than 200 times faster than during the PETM extinction event given the best available current scientific evidence. Such high rates of atmospheric carbon accumulation and related global heating risk generating an event that is outside of any geological context that scientists might use to predict the human warming event’s severity.

From Sam Carana on his facebook-page (11th april 2016):
With El Niño still going strong, temperatures look set to soar over the coming months over the Northern Hemisphere at large and over the Arctic in particular. This forecast for April 12, 2016, shows temperature anomalies at the top end of the scale over most of Greenland and Baffin Bay, while the Arctic as a whole is hit by a temperature anomaly of ~5°C (9°F). Furthermore, ocean temperatures are currently very high. These high temperatures, together with the poor condition of the sea ice, make that chances are that the sea ice will be largely gone by September 2016. Sea ice acts as a buffer, absorbing heat and keeping the temperature of the water at freezing point. Without such a buffer, further heat will instead make that the temperature of the water will rise rapidly. Furthermore, less sea ice means that less sunlight gets reflected back into space and more sunlight instead gets absorbed by the Arctic Ocean. Warm water reaching the seafloor of the Arctic Ocean can penetrate sediments that can contain huge amounts of methane in the form of hydrates and free gas, triggering abrupt release of methane in gigantic quantities, escalating into runaway warming, and subsequent destruction and extinction at massive scale. The situation is dire and calls for comprehensive and effective action as described at the Climate Plan at http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/p/plan.html - http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/p/plan.html From the post 'Record Arctic Warming', at: http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2016/04/record-arctic-warming.html - http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/…/record-arctic-warming.html
a reaction from Rob de Laet on FB: something is wrong in the ice pack in the Davis strait, if you look at the ice distribution. Two possibilities IMHO or a mix thereof: 1. a fluke in the system b. a huge outflow of ice from that strait in recent days. I do not know if you have seen my comments that almost none seems to have noticed and that was the immense activity in that strait with +15c anomalies on the Greenland side and -15 on the Canadian side triggering 150 km/h winds, huge waves and which actually resulted in an unnoticed hurricane which quickly lost strenght but dumped snow in Ireland. It is strange that this was not noticed at all. I asked Sam, but he has not come back on it yet.

https://robertscribbler.com/2016/04/12/the-greenland-summer-melt-season-just-started-in-april/ - https://robertscribbler.com/2016/04/12/the-greenland-summer-melt-season-just-started-in-april/
In other words, a Greenland melt season that usually starts as May rolls into June http://www.climatecentral.org/news/greenlands-melt-season-started-nearly-two-months-early-20237 - and has never initiated before May 5th just began on April 11th of 2016. That’s 24 days ahead of the previous record set only six years ago and more than a month and a half ahead of the typical melt start. In other words — way too early. But in a rapidly heating world where monthly temperatures have now exceeded a range of 1.5 C above 1880s levels, we could well expect Greenland melts to begin earlier, end later, and encompass more and more of the ice sheet surface at peak melt during July.
(Record early start to Greenland’s ‘Summer’ melt season occurred on April 11, 2016 according to reports from DMI’s http://polarportal.dk/en/nyheder/arkiv/nyheder/usaedvanlig-tidlig-afsmeltning-i-groenland/ - Polar Portal .) https://robertscribbler.com/2016/04/11/warm-southerly-winds-gust-at-hurricane-force-over-greenland-in-staggering-early-season-heatwave-temperatures-now-hitting-up-to-41-degrees-f-above-average-at-summit/ - Yesterday’s new record early melt start occurred as extraordinarily warm temperatures in the range of 20-40 degrees Fahrenheit above average swept over southern, central and western Greenland . This flood of extremely warm temperatures for Greenland was accompanied by heavy rains and strong winds — gusting to gale or even hurricane force in some locations. In some areas, rain fell over the ice sheet itself. As recently as midday Tuesday, Dr. Jason Box — a prominent Greenland researcher — tweeted a report from a friend in Nuuk that the city was https://twitter.com/climate_ice?ref_src=twsrcgoogle|twcampserp|twgrauthor - “close to drowning in water caused by rain and snow melt.” Today, temperatures for the whole of Greenland — a 1.7 million square kilometer island containing enough ice to raise sea levels by more than 20 feet should it all melt — http://www.karstenhaustein.com/reanalysis/gfs0p5/animate.htm?ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f00_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f06_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f12_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f18_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f24_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f30_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f36_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f42_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f48_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f54_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f60_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f66_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f72_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f78_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f84_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f90_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f96_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f102_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f108_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f114_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f120_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f126_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f132_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f138_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f144_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f150_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f156_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f162_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_f168_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_mean_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_trend_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_past07_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_past30_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_fcst30_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_pastMTH_arctic.png,ANOM2m_arctic/ANOM2m_fcstMTH_arctic.png - were measuring as high as 10.17 C above average (more than 18 F above average) with readings over much of northern and central Greenland spiking over 20 C (36 F) above normal (1980-2010) ranges. http://cci-reanalyzer.org/Forecasts/#ARC-LEA - http://cci-reanalyzer.org/Forecasts/#ARC-LEA Climate Reanalyzer (University of Maine) expect up to 20 degrees+ Celsius from the norm for Greenland, Siberia, North Canada. This means permafrost will start release of methane.
For the coming week most of Greenland will stay below freezing. But temperatures are this extreme-2016 could see a very large increase of land-ice melt resulting in sharp increase in sea-level rise.
"Rivers in the sky" did bring floods to Texas, hail to Saudi Arabia. Flooding due to rain and sealevel rise, extreme storms, droughts, wildfires and heatwaves are all on their way.
Western Europe, Eastern US/Canada may get saved for the worst coming months by the cold meltwater from Greenland as a top-layer in the North Atlantic.
The jet-stream may bring "very extreme weather"all the way to the Arctic. "Climate-chaos" is beyond most of the worst-case scenario's.

The Arctic is melting. Large parts of the Arctic region could get above freezing temperatures. Even Greenland is "warm"! (Although most of the up to 2 miles thick landice will remain frozen-if that melts we would see a 7 meter sea level rise.) This Arctic heat wave is pushing cold air towards western Europe.

The northern hemisphere is much to warm. That will bring more rain (and snow in some area's), more wind. The combination of warmth-sealevelrise, more wind and rain means more flooding.
On the longer term how will the Arctic be able to cool down in the 2016/17 winter ? It looks like a lot of seaice may be gone-now the northern part of the globe is heading into summer. Water and methane absorp heat. The only main reservoir of "cold" is Greenland when much of the sea-ice gone.
The Arctic is surrounded by land. Land is warming up, the oceans are warming up. The atmosphere (with more CO2 and methane etc.) is warming up. After september a decrease of sun-heat and the ice on Greenland will have very limited capability to cool down the Arctic.
In general warmer oceans will increase melt also in the Antarctic. Sea-ice is keeping land-ice in place. But with a lot of sea-ice melting land-ice slides into the oceans (or is blown into the oceans by stronger winds) further increasing sealevel rise.
Volcanic eruptions, more sun blocking dust in the atmosphere, will have some influence on global temperature rise. But CO2 and methane levels are going up vertical almost=temperatures and sealevel rise going up "very strong" .

Fracking causes earthquakes. The US "energy-revolution" is not only causing earthquakes but also large methane release. The EPA "choose to work" with global warming numbers for methane for a 100-year time frame. But more realistic, one year term-methane can keep up as much as 105 times heat the same number CO2 can do. Methane is the motor behind global warming.
US foreign policy-in this article http://billmoyers.com/story/global-warmings-terrifying-new-chemistry/ - http://billmoyers.com/story/global-warmings-terrifying-new-chemistry/ linked to Mrs H. Clinton, was on energy bases. US oil companies would be allowed to "frack all over the planet". The article mentions Bulgaria, Romania, Papua New Guinea, Cambodia...
Recent findings link fracking to methane release. A Canadian study finds that leakage can not be stopped. Global warming is already causing methane release from a.o. the Arctic.
http://arctic-news.blogspot.nl/2016/04/more-and-more-extreme-weather.html - http://arctic-news.blogspot.nl/2016/04/more-and-more-extreme-weather.html Climate-chaos is further escalating. With cyclones, heatwaves, extensive rains etc. it is becoming a massive killer.
Because CO2 ends up in the oceans-oceans get more acid-killing plankton. Thereby decreasing the oxygen-production from sea life and sealife itself. The 20% humans in the "richest countries" consume a 100% of what the Earth can produce.
With CO2, methane, decreased O2 production via plants, increased heat, the air quality is dropping. This will become deadly in coming heatwaves.

All in all we can be sure about one thing: the thermometer does not show the full extent of what we’re doing – not yet, not for decades to come. If we would stop emitting completely as per tomorrow net atmospheric warming would still continue for some 37.5 years, according to the 2005 study – that is, if CO2 concentrations stayed constant afterwards ( http://www.bitsofscience.org/shocking-climate-record-atmospheric-co2-rise-accelerating-carbon-feedbacks-tip-earth-past-404-ppm-6905/ - additional CO2 is cumulative ). An additional problem is we have not managed to lower CO2 emissions over the last 37.5 years. To the contrary – http://www.bitsofscience.org/ipcc-graph-fossil-co2-emissions-6601/ - we’ve almost doubled them . Hansen’ research group calculated (in 2005) this means we would still have 0.6 degrees Celsius of inevitable warming, once anthropogenic (additional) CO2 emissions stopped. (DJ: this article only looks at CO2, the story is much more complicated. Methane is on the rise, warmer oceans, less snow and ice also have their effects. Volcanic eruptions can have a cooling effect (sometimes, partly) but for a short time. Maybe bigger storms (due to more heat in the atmosphere) will bring more dust-blocking sun-heat ? But also more dust to sun-reflecting surfaces at the poles etc. There maybe unknown factors in these complex calculations-but for now the outcome is very bad for life on Earth. Climatologists are book-keepers of our enviroment, we may be running out of credit.)

Warming 5 degrees celsius in 13 years makes an average of 0.3846 degrees per year. For 2016 the expected rise will be around 0.24 degrees.
But with methane and CO2 still going up we will have a larger temperature increase than 5 degrees celsius the coming years. CO2, methane are "going vertical" in the graphs-statistics so temperature and sealevelrise will rise very sharp.
Science does not know all there is to know-maybe somewere in the process a "counterbalacing" action can cool down the climate ?
After the "PETM" (Paleocen-Eocene Thermal Maximum) temperatures dropped again and life could find new ways. Today the nuclear poison reservoirs (in plants, weapons etc.) may make that return impossible.

Expect more extreme weather; first "normal extreme" more strong storms, extreme rain etc, but increasing "stronger than ever" storms, hotter than ever, dryer than ever etc. Wildfires have been around all the time, but the extreme will be in more and larger fires.

http://allafrica.com/stories/201605180286.html - http://allafrica.com/stories/201605180286.html Heatwaves, drought, extreme weather further on the increase.
Of course there is a difference between a 8 degrees (C) temperature-rise from -12 to -4 or -4 to +4 C. http://robinwestenra.blogspot.nl/2016/05/fears-about-east-antarcticas-biggest.html - http://robinwestenra.blogspot.nl/2016/05/fears-about-east-antarcticas-biggest.html With the Arctic getting as good as free of ice in september, increase in melt in landice in Greenland patterns seen in the Arctic show up in the Antarctic. http://robinwestenra.blogspot.nl/2016/05/fears-about-east-antarcticas-biggest.html - http://robinwestenra.blogspot.nl/2016/05/fears-about-east-antarcticas-biggest.html
Sealevelrise used to be less than 1cm per year but abrupt climate change could bring us very high melt of landice in Greenland, glaciers moving into the ocean (even when winter in the southern hemisphere, the seawater is simply to hot !) in tha Antarctic.
Methane and CO2 release both trapping heat are rising sharply (permafrost being defrozen) this will push global temperature even higher.
When the full impact of this climate-crisis gets "main stream" it can bring the end of "the world as we know it", economic collapse, wars, etc.

http://scienceblogs.com/gregladen/2016/05/19/the-glaciers-will-melt-the-sea-will-rise-up/ - http://scienceblogs.com/gregladen/2016/05/19/the-glaciers-will-melt-the-sea-will-rise-up/ CO2 levels fitting for present sealevel would be around 250 parts per million. At present the CO2 level is above 400 (if you translate methane into CO2 effect some come to 485 ppm). Fitting for 400 ppm CO2 would be a sealevel several meters higher than at present looking at historic data.
Exponential growth of sealevelrise could mean 50% growth (at avarage) per year so say 2010 sealevel rise =0.2 cm 2011 would be 0.3 2012 would be 0.45 (cumulitave 0.2 from 2010 + 0.3 2011 and 0.45 2012=0.95cm) 2013 would be 0.675 (cum. 0.95 + 0.675= 1.625 cm) etc. 2014=1.0125 2015=1.51875 2016=2.278125 2017=3.4171875 2018=5.12578125 2019=7.688671875
resulting in a sealevelrise of more than 22 cm in this decade (and exploding further in the future by 2030 in one year sealevelrise would be more than twelve meters)

We all-as humans-have a responsibility. Pointing the finger at the big fossil companies does not help, discussing our ecological footprint may be wiser.
If "market price"excludes many enviromental costs and leaves those costs for the taxpayers something is wrong in how our economy is working. When these enviromental costs are that extreme-unpayable for next generations-is the "market price" an excuse for "profits" for a happy few on the short term while putting costs for all-much higher than any profit-on the next generation and the poor ? Is this what we consider civilization ?
Do we want a "rat-race society" with a few winners and the rest as "losers" going high speed into a dead-end street ? Or do we want a "share-society" with chances for all, without excluding people ?
It looks like not avian-flu is going to kill us all but a greed-pandemic. Wether through war or climate change, unless we change our behavior. We could have paradise when we stop picking the wrong fruits !

To much warm air, seawater, is moving towards the Arctic and Antarctic. With co2, methane and other greenhouse gas increasing further global temperatures will increase. http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/soundings/iasi/m2/t1/D1/mr_co2.093.gif - http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/soundings/iasi/m2/t1/D1/mr_co2.093.gif . Evere 1 degree C temperature rise means increase of rain(and snow) by 7% and lightning by 10%.
How much the sealevel will rise in what time-frame seems hard to predict. Temperatures once did rise 5 degrees celsius in 13 years, but it seems that the rise at present is larger faster.
There are several developments in co2-reduction that may be able, maybe, to get climate change under control. But for the short term, the coming months, more rain, heat, drought, storm and other extreme weather is on its way.
Looking at Europe the European STorm Forecast EXperiment-(ESTOFEX) archives can give an indication how the climate is getting out of control http://www.estofex.org/ - http://www.estofex.org/ . Extreme heat and drought continues in India and Pakistan. Sometimes slipping north into Siberia, almost reaching the Arctic. The US may be expecting extreme heat (above 40C/100F) in the coming week as well, from California towards Texas.

Extreme weather events are getting "normal" due to what is happening in the Arctic, the effects on the jetstream. Wildfires, drought, heatwaves, flooding, snow and hail in deserts, all can be explained by what is happening with that jetstream.

The conflict with Russia is about the crimea-officialy. "The West" wants to dominate the globe. And that is an old model, it will not work. After NApoleon, the NAzi's is NAto going to attack Russia (in the Ukraine, Syria) ? War with Russia means war with a group of nations. It proberbly will be the last war.

Although I do not always agree with the interpretation SuperStation95 gives to their "news" they are different from the main stream media (not always better). On the South China Sea:

If the US does want to start a war with Russia it will also have to start a war with China and Iran. This does mean tha t a "first strike" would have to do the fighting.
NATO troops (UK, France, US, proberbly Germany ,Turkey) are already on the ground in Syria without the permission of the Assad regime. For the moment the NATO forces are helping "moderate rebels" in their war with IS, at least that is the excuse. (Turkey is also helping IS, buying oil, giving supplies, medical aid. Saudi Arabia and Qatar are funding IS).
Russia and Iran are helping Assad to fight IS. China did repeatedly tell the world they would join Russia.
The conflicts in Syria, Ukraine, South China Sea, and elsewere (Libya, Nigeria, Afghanistan etc.) are fossil fuel related. The US$ is backed by fossil fuel. The present foreign policy of the US is not a sign of strenght but more a sign of being pushed in the corner.
The US wants regime change, Qatar wants its oil and gas transport route via Syria towards the EU. Control over fossil fuels is control over the capability to fight wars.
Since the US used the Syria-ceasefire to re-arm "moderate rebels" and give more NATO assistence, plan-B, negotiations have limited use.
IS is a proxy-army from the west to be used against Russia, China, Iran. Since the west is not seriously stopping that danger RIC (Russia, Iran, China) will do so.

(Proberbly even earlier in Asia-to weaken China and the Soviet Union). http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-06-18/read-government-uses-orlando-shooting-start-another-war - http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-06-18/read-government-uses-orlando-shooting-start-another-war It will be just a matter of time before an other "IS terrorist attack" will provide the US to start/escalate "the war on terror" against Assad, Iran, Russia or China "for giving aid to terrorists".

A Russian Warning
http://cluborlov.blogspot.com/2016/05/a-russian-warning.html#more
We, the undersigned, are Russians living and working in the USA. We have
been watching with increasing anxiety as the current US and NATO
policies have set us on an extremely dangerous collision course with the
Russian Federation, as well as with China. Many respected, patriotic
Americans, such as Paul Craig Roberts, Stephen Cohen, Philip Giraldi,
Ray McGovern and many others have been issuing warnings of a looming a
Third World War. But their voices have been all but lost among the din
of a mass media that is full of deceptive and inaccurate stories that
characterize the Russian economy as being in shambles and the Russian
military as weak—all based on no evidence. But we—knowing both Russian
history and the current state of Russian society and the Russian
military, cannot swallow these lies. We now feel that it is our duty, as
Russians living in the US, to warn the American people that they are
being lied to, and to tell them the truth. And the truth is simply this:
If there is going to be a war with Russia, then the United States will most certainly be destroyed, and most of us will end up dead." "

There is so much important news not making Main Stream Media MSM-infotainment:
http://sputniknews.com/europe/20150617/1023454191.html#ixzz3dGcImiJI - http://sputniknews.com/europe/20150617/1023454191.html#ixzz3dGcImiJI From 1974 up till at least 2003 the UK government worked with protestant militant groups in (Northern) Ireland killing hundreds of catholics. (Margeret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan (contra's in Nicaragua, Renamo in Mozambique, muslim extremists in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union) and Pinochet (killing tens of thousands civilians, not only socialists but also cristian democrats in Chili) were all members of a anti-communist political club.)
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-06-21/big-one-large-scale-motion-detected-near-san-andreas-fault - http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-06-21/big-one-large-scale-motion-detected-near-san-andreas-fault
Zero hedge has more on the "growing tensions" between NATO and Russia. Robert Scribbler has much more on the climate chaos. (First you had climate change, we are now in climate chaos, with snow in Hawaii, Wales in June ! Above 20 C in Greenland ! Extreme, killing heat in several places. Next is climate collapse-extreme 9and hot) storms with extreme amounts of rain, colder than average gone-everywere it will be hot and humid, increased sharply land-ice melt giving strong sealevelrise. )
There is a large crisis in politics and economy both in the US and EU. I think the UK will vote for a brexit-the UK out of (this) EU. Here in the Netherlands we already have a Nexit-campain. I do not want an ever growing EU moving east without the possibility that citizens can have a word in that. The foundation of the Euro turns out to be not very solid. I am in favor of international cooperation but this EU is not in the interest of the average citizen. Both the EU and US are controlled by big companies, the 0,1% only getting richer.

Is it possible that Robert Scribbler and Paul Beckwith made a wrong interpretation from the null-school data ?
Earlier there were claims of methane-release as precursor for earthquakes-with satellite measurements-that was incorrectly interpreted.
Still there is a climatecrisese unfolding. Maybe a more correct interpretation of the nullschool jetstream data is that crossing the equator by the jetstream due to arctic melting has become easier and more frequent ?

From the dailykos-story: (When you make a mistake yoy better admit it, tell what went wrong and try to improve it to get credebility back).
If robertscribbler and Paul Beckwith had paid attention to high level wind flow patterns near the extraordinary number of tropical storms in the Pacific in 2015 they would have seen many examples of high level winds crossing the equator. I am writing this post to show that “our side” has the integrity to correct our mistakes and admit our errors. I am also writing this as a warning to readers of Dailykos to make sure that your sources have expertise and demonstrated credibility in the subjects they cover. Even experts can make mistakes but this is what happens when non-scientists try to write about complex problems that they don’t understand.

El Nino did stop, so in the tropics-locally-temperatures could go down while global temperatures keep rising. From their short article: In the tropics, there was a record fast 2-month cooling of -0.56 deg. C, just edging out -0.55 deg. C in June 1998 (also an El Nino weakening year). The rapid cooling is from the weakening El Nino and approaching La Nina conditions by mid-summer or early fall.

The "mega-gloom & doom" in my opinion:
http://www.veteranstoday.com/2016/07/05/exclusive-turkey-nuked-the-kurds-inside-syria-territory/ - http://www.veteranstoday.com/2016/07/05/exclusive-turkey-nuked-the-kurds-inside-syria-territory/ VT has been reporting earlier of the use of small tactical battlefield nuclear weapons in Iraq and Yemen. Now they claim Turkey used such a weapon against Kurds in Syria.
If VT is correct in this SW Asia since 2003 has seen several small nuclear weapons being used. The danger in small nuclear weapons for battlefield use is that it may be hard to see the difference with large conventional weapons (and depleted uranium). As the article states, only measurements in the area were the explosion has been could provide proof.

If I get it correct global warming so far is 1,5/2 degrees celsius above the 1880 baseline-but warming goes that fast with feed-backs (melting permafrost, melting ice etc) that within a decade warming could be 10 degrees celsius. Looking at all the extreme weather events we now can see around the globe time will show how correct this idea is.

Guest, please keep it polite. The thing people like on ATF is that there is respect for each forum member-difference in opinion is a basis for discussion. This is not a scientific forum I do not claim to be a 100% correct. On climate change I rather would be proven to be totally wrong.
When I google for "global temperature change" I get this: https://www.google.nl/search?q=global+temperature+change&rlz=1CAACAP_enNL694NL694&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=631&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj42ITu0-_NAhXFDsAKHVmuA2sQsAQIGw - https://www.google.nl/search?q=global+temperature+change&rlz=1CAACAP_enNL694NL694&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=631&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj42ITu0-_NAhXFDsAKHVmuA2sQsAQIGw
Yes, a lot of the data is provided by scientists paid with tax money. Would you like that safety of products only would be checked by the producers of that product or do you want an independent scientific (and therefor tax paid) body to look after consumer interests ?
In my opinion governments are there for all the people not just for the big companies. What is good for Shell, GM, GE, or Boeing may not be good for Mr/Mrs Average.
When you look at lead as an additiv for petrol, the history of Standard Oil, that was forced to break up by the government-yes governments should be able to control big companies.
That is also the role I see on enviromental issues for governments. Is that a problem.
(I do not work as a government troll-people on this forum are not stupid !)

The comments under the post give an insight on how complex discussion on climate change is.
Sea-ice is in poor quality and at most places (in the Arctic) less than 2 m thick. Warm water from the Atlantic and Pacific-and from several rivers from Canada, Siberia etc. flowing into the Arctic speed up the melt. Also there is a trend of storms reaching-with warm air-the Arctic more often than previously.
Water reflects only 6% of the heat from the sun, ice reflects 90%. As long as there is ice in the water the temperature stays (near the ice) at 0 degrees. But the same amount of energy that melts ice is enough to lift water to 80 degrees C.
On top of that methane from the seabed and defrozen permafrost is retaining heat-pushing up temperatures. There is a difference between air with co2 at 250 ppm (parts per million) and close to 500 ppm in the way the contain heat.

From M.H. Hensel on facebook:
There is a hydroxyl layer between the troposphere and stratosphere. Hydroxyl is created by infrared in sunlight hitting moisture. Hydroxyl's break down methane. The hydroxyl layer is capable of breaking down about three and a half billions tons of carbon a year. A new estimate by the World Bank says 64 billion tons of carbon, much of it methane, is going into the atmosphere. The hydroxyl layer can't handle it. The methane rises above the clouds where there is little or no moisture. No hydroxyls here. So the methane is building up. Also, since hydroxyls are not working on breaking methane down it builds up and lasts a lot longer than the tradition wisdom of 10 to 12 years.

The new layer in the atmosphere resembles what has been happening in the oceans. For a long time it looked like oceans ware not warming up but deep layers in the ocean (and the surface) was warming up.
Global warming (in my opinion) is very complex with different effects on different layers.
As far as I can see the tendency is towards the abrupt climate change, sea/land ice melting, increase of CO(2) and methane release, more wildfires all kind of feed-back loops.
There may be some "counter balance" to correct the warming that science has not discovered ? Time may be running out for geo-engenering, getting co and methane out of the atmosphere.

anyone who thinks that humans are not responsible for climate change think on this,
300 years ago there was no cars ,planes ,powered boats on this planet,
the population of earth was 2 billion had been the same for thousands of years,
come 1850 industrial revolution,
now we have ......................
7.5 Billion souls on the planet, and we adding a Billion every 14 years approx, (it took 100 years to rise from 2 billion to 3 billion)
millions of cars pumping out carbon that has been stores underground for MILLIONS of years,
mining that blows up mountains ,releasing tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere,
millions of people flying all over the place,
the Earth is like a space ship on a journey ,its a closed atmosphere no way of resupplying it ,
we are now in the 14th month of record tempetures
WAKE UP........................

The basis of Greenland land ice is molten, meaning the up to 2 kilometers of ice on top of it is more likely to move when surrounding sea-ice is not slowing down glaciers. (Also earth/ice-quakes can push large portions of landice closer or into the ocean. In my opinion we are on the edge between climate chaos (with a lot of drought, flooding, storms etc-all "once in a 1000 year events"etc.) and climate collapse-due to many storms pushing into the Arctic creating massive methane release from defrozen permafrost, seafloor and seawater.
The problem with this is the timescale, when we see a chain-reaction things can start heating up very fast.
Another factor is the nuclear energy sector with several nuclear reactors in Japan and the US (for the moment there are the main problems) being vulnarable for extreme weather and a "faster than expected" sealevel-rise.
You will find out how "strong" something is when you put it to the "stress-test". And that "testing" is on its way right now. Sealevelrise will not go smoothley, but it will come by stormsurges and extreme rain-events.
Pandemics due to defrozen virusses and bacteria may not get enough time to develop, climate change could be speeding up to fast for that.

Opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in 1830, the date scientists now believe emissions from the UK's industrial revolution began to warm the planet. Source: Wikimedia Commons By https://twitter.com/climatehome" rel="nofollow - Karl Mathiesen On December 4, 1830, the Planet chugged out of Liverpool on its maiden trip to the great manufacturing centre of Manchester. Shovelled full of coal, the steam locomotive was hauling freight along the world’s first intercity rail route – a major advance in the industrialisation of the globe. It was around this moment, scientists have discovered, that our own planet began to go off the rails. Using 2,000 years of paleoclimate data – the earth’s historical temperature measured from natural sources such as the growth bands of corals and trees, ice cores and the amount of pollen trapped in sediment layers – a global team of researchers lead by Australian National University associate professor Nerilie Abram, have pinpointed the moment when the earth’s temperature began to rise because of human greenhouse gas emissions to between 1830 and 1850. Abram said the findings, published on Wednesday http://Early%20onset%20of%20industrial-era%20warming%20across%20the%20oceans%20and%20continents%20Corresponding%20Author%20Nerilie%20Abram%20The%20Australian%20National%20University,%20Canberra,%20Australia%20Email:%20nerilie.abram@anu.edu.au%2C%20tel:%20+61%202%206125%201978%20DOI%2010.1038/nature19082%20Online%20paper*%20http://nature.com/articles/doi:10.1038/nature19082" rel="nofollow - in the journal Nature , were “extraordinary” and had implications for our understanding of the sensitivity of the globe to even tiny increases of carbon in the atmosphere. A scientist extracts coral cores at Rowley Shoals, west of Broome in Western Australia. Source: Eric Matson, Australian Institute of Marine Science Study co-author, Dr Helen McGregor, from the University of Wollongong said: “The early onset of warming detected in this study indicates the earth’s climate did respond in a rapid and measurable way to even the small increase in carbon emissions during the start of the industrial age.” Abrams said the increase in atmospheric carbon between the onset of warming and the end of the 1800s was “small”, around 15 parts per million. But even this raised the temperature by a few tenths of a degree. The increase since 1900 has been more than 100 parts per million. Paleoclimate temperature records were most famously analysed in the 1990s by US scientist Michael Mann to produce the “hockey stick” graph, which shocked the world with its dramatic depiction of the rapid recent rise in temperature after a millennia of relative stability. http://www.climatechangenews.com/2014/04/11/400ppm-the-milestone-that-puts-earth-in-the-danger-zone/" rel="nofollow - But these natural almanacs have never so accurately calculated the beginning of human-induced warming. In a paleoclimatological first, Abram’s study incorporated not only land based sources like tree rings, but measured marine temperatures as well. The scientists found the land of the northern hemisphere and seas of the tropics began warming at roughly the same speed around 1830. “Seeing that parts of the oceans are a very responsive part of the climate system is a new and very interesting bit of information,” said Abram. Particularly because those oceans contain some of the most climate sensitive ecosystems, coral reefs. The southern hemisphere was around 50 years behind. This was likely the result of cooling currents in the huge southern oceans. < width="500" height="375" ="https://www.youtube.com//z5VC98yZCu0?feature=o" border="0" allowfullscreen="" style="-sizing: border-; : ; top: 0px; left: 0px; bottom: 0px; height: 382.5px; width: 680px; border-width: 0px; border-style: initial;"> This regional variability also allowed Abram’s team to chart the different stages of “emergence” around the globe. That is the point at which the average temperature has increased so much that it exceeds even extreme natural fluctuations. “In the tropical oceans and the Arctic in particular, 180 years of warming has already caused the average climate to emerge above the range of variability that was normal in the centuries prior to the Industrial Revolution,” said Abram. The Antarctic, however, remains stubbornly un-warmed to this day. Because of the huge technological leaps and enormous new wealth that drove projects like the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, early industrial emissions were dominated by the United Kingdom. http://cait.wri.org/historical/Country%20GHG%20Emissions?indicator%5B%5D=Total%20CO2%20Emissions%20Excluding%20Land-Use%20Change%20and%20Forestry&year%5B%5D=1850&sortIdx=NaN&sortDir=desc&chartType=geo&view=viz" rel="nofollow - According to the World Resource Institute , by 1850 the furnaces of the British industrial revolution had belched 122.6 million tons of climate-warming carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This cumulative total was twice as much as the rest of the world combined had emitted to that point – most of it coming from Britain’s great rivals, France, the US and Germany. Today, Britain emits around 500 million tonnes every single year. < ="http://cait.wri.org/historical//Country%20GHG%20Emissions?indicator=Total%20CO2%20Emissions%20Excluding%20Land-Use%20Change%20and%20Forestry&year=1850&sortIdx=NaN&sortDir=desc&chart=geo&view=viz&=1" width="800" height="450" style="-sizing: border-;"> The findings shift our understanding of exactly what is normal, because instrumental records of the global temperature only reliably go back as far as 1880. Using that baseline, http://climate.nasa.gov/news/2465/2016-climate-trends-continue-to-break-records/" rel="nofollow - Nasa has determined that the first six months of 2016 were 1.3C warmer than normal. But Abram says the world had already warmed a few tenths of a degree by 1880, pushing the world beyond the 1.5C limit already. “That’s important for conversations that we are having at the moment about trying to limit warming to 1.5C. We are getting scarily close to that already, but that’s when we are talking about the baseline being in the 1880s-1900. So we don’t yet have the full picture,” she said. - http://www.acoolerclimate.com/global-warmings-effects-on-plants-and-animals/" rel="nofollow - As a result of the change in climate, more people are becoming aware of global warming, and there are a lot of hypotheses about the outcomes of global warming. One of the hypothesis’s that interests me is “a new ice age”. The movie “ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0319262/" rel="nofollow - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0319262/" rel="nofollow - After Tomorrow (2004) ”is a film based on the hypothesis that melting glaciers will shut down the Gulf Stream, which is the part of global conveyor belt. This could cool down the North Atlantic region and cause a new ice age.
The global conveyor belt (also called, thermohaline circulation) is the movement of water in oceans all over the world. (The red and blue belt in the picture represents the global conveyor belt) http://www.global-greenhouse-warming.com/oceans.html" rel="nofollow"> (Click the picture if you want to see the website where I got the information about the thermohaline circulation and new ice age) The amount of salt in water and ocean temperatures move this conveyor belt of water. As you can see in the picture, the conveyor allows the warm surface water to move towards the North Atlantic pole. This brings warmer temperatures to Europe. (It allows Britain to have mild winters) When the warm water reaches the North Atlantic, the water becomes saltier and cooler. Because cold water molecules are packed more tightly together, it has more density than warm water. Therefore, it sinks deep down and pulls the current back around. http://www.windows2universe.org/earth/Water/deep_ocean.html" rel="nofollow"> (Click the picture if you want to see the website where I got information about the thermohaline circulation) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kvSzmBUvOI" rel="nofollow - The difference in temperature in the water enables the thermohaline to move the water around the world. The deep cold current travel around Africa and Asia. Some of the current rises slowly because it gets warmed. The rest of the cold current continues to run toward the Pacific Ocean. In the Pacific, the water will rise to the surface of the ocean due to warm temperatures. The warm water will travel back to the North Atlantic pole, and that completes the cycle of thermohaline. (The completion of the cycle takes around 1000 years.) But how is the global conveyor belt related to global warming and the ice age? Recently, scientists discovered that there has been 20% decrease in cold water flow around Gulf. The global conveyor belt heavily depends on the temperature and salinity of water. Nonetheless, if the glacier continues melting due to the increasing in temperature, there will be more fresh water around the Gulf Stream, which will slow down the global conveyor belt. This will no longer bring warm water around the North Atlantic as it will stay in the tropical regions, so North West Europe will face harsher winters. In an extreme case, it could cause the same ice age scenario from the Day After Tomorrow. However, many scientists say that the Day After Tomorrow happened impossibly quickly. If this really occurs, it will take many decades. However, in the movie, the new ice age happens impossibly quickly. If it happens in real world, it will take few decades to happen. http://geolor.com/The_Day_After_Tomorrow_Movie.htm" rel="nofollow - (Link) Steve Easterbrook who is a professor in University of Toronto said the global warming can cause much colder temperature in Western Europe, and it can trigger a new ice age through more glacier reflecting the sun light and etc. But, that’s a very very extreme case to happen. http://www.martinfrost.ws/htmlfiles/gulf_stream.html" rel="nofollow"> (Click the picture if you want to see the website where I got information about the Gulf stream) Or maybe global warming is not even true, and all the evidence that we are seeing such as rising sea level is just coincidence. However, what if it’s not coincidence? What if global warming has been caused by the result of human’s civilization? Why do the next generation and other species have to suffer because of our greed? A lot of http://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/" rel="nofollow - evidences show that Global warming is happening, and global warming has been caused by the result of humn’s civilization. (Specifically, it has been triggered by burning carbon dioxide) The evidence also indicates that many bad outcomes such as “a new ice age” can happen in the future. And we don’t know how soon they will appear because nature is very unpredictable. (I believe we have already started to see some outcomes) A http://www.fightglobalwarming.com/content.cfm?contentID=5118" rel="nofollow - survey indicates that 53% of Americans believe that global warming is due to human activity such as burning fossil fuels, and 70% responded that it is possible to reduce greenhouse gases, and 59% think individuals can do something about global warming. We have caused global warming, so it’s time for us to take action against it, and I hope it’s not too late.

The http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1931-0846.2016.12195.x/abstract" rel="nofollow - most detailed study to date shows that Arctic sea ice-melt over the last 20 years is "unprecedented" and "enormously outside the bounds of natural variability." Julienne Stroeve with the US National Snow and Ice Data Center https://insideclimatenews.org/news/18082016/arctic-sea-ice-melting-historical-data-noaa-climate-change-global-warming-greenhouse-gases" rel="nofollow - said that the Arctic sea ice has not been at levels as low as it is today for at least 5,000 to 7,000 years. https://insideclimatenews.org/news/18082016/arctic-sea-ice-melting-historical-data-noaa-climate-change-global-warming-greenhouse-gases" rel="nofollow - Stroeve noted , "Some other studies have suggested at least 800,000 years." "Next year or the year after, the Arctic will be free of ice," Dr. Peter Wadhams, who has spent his entire scientific career involved in dozens of trips to study the Arctic, https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/aug/21/arctic-will-be-ice-free-in-summer-next-year" rel="nofollow - told The Guardian recently. Wadhams, who was one of the very first scientists to warn that the thick Arctic icecap was beginning to thin, directed the Scott Polar Institute in Cambridge from 1987 to 1992, and has been a professor of ocean physics at Cambridge since 2001. - Shocking news recently emerged from India, where over a quarter of that country's land is turning into desert thanks largely to ACD, according to a http://www.isro.gov.in/desertification-and-land-degradation-atlas-released" rel="nofollow - recently published study . - Another http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2016/08/toxic-algae/" rel="nofollow - recent report showed that ocean slime, composed of toxic algae blooms, is rapidly spreading across Earth as a result of warming ocean waters. The toxic algae is worsening dead zones and wiping out parts of the food chain for marine life, causing collapsing populations of sea lions, seals, various bird species and fish around the planet. Meanwhile in the Arctic, fish populations are shifting rapidly as the sea ice dwindles. According to a http://www.adn.com/arctic/2016/08/13/arctic-fish-populations-changing-as-ice-dwindles-report-says/" rel="nofollow - recent report from the USGS and the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), at least 20 different species have now found their way into Arctic waters that had previously never been found there. Additionally, another 63 species have changed their ranges from what they used to be. A http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/2016GL069666/full" rel="nofollow - recent study also showed that the Greenland Ice Sheet continues to melt extremely rapidly, losing the equivalent of 110 million Olympic-size swimming pools worth of water each year. In other words, 270 gigatons of ice have melted per year from 2011 to 2014. The study also showed that the melting in Greenland is continuing to accelerate with time. Down in the Antarctic, a http://mashable.com/2016/08/22/crack-larsen-c-ice-shelf-antarctica/#EbIldOyCG8q3" rel="nofollow - recent report showed that a massive rift is growing across the fragile Larsen C Ice Shelf. As the crack continues to spread at an accelerating rate, it threatens to release an iceberg the size of Delaware. More importantly, it will eventually destabilize an even larger area of ice, roughly the size of Scotland. - NASA's top climate scientist, Gavin Schmidt, who directs the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, recently said that Earth is warming at a pace not seen for at least the past 1,000 years, which means it is "very unlikely" that global temperatures will stay below the 1.5C limit agreed to in Paris. "In the last 30 years, we've really moved into exceptional territory," Schmidt https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/aug/30/nasa-climate-change-warning-earth-temperature-warming" rel="nofollow - told the Guardian US. "It's unprecedented in 1,000 years." "Maintaining temperatures below the 1.5C guardrail requires significant and very rapid cuts in carbon dioxide emissions or coordinated geoengineering," he https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/aug/30/nasa-climate-change-warning-earth-temperature-warming" rel="nofollow - added . "That is very unlikely. We are not even yet making emissions cuts commensurate with keeping warming below 2C." While it has been discussed before, an international team of researchers http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2016/08/29/earth-entered-new-anthropocene-epoch-in-1950-scientists-say/" rel="nofollow - recently stated that Earth has now been pushed into the Anthropocene epoch, due to ACD, the spread of plastics, and new metals and concrete. This is the first new geological epoch for the Earth in more than 11,500 years, and it is due to the intensely rapid industrialization of the planet over the course of the last century. - Lastly, a https://www.theguardian.com/environment/climate-consensus-97-per-cent/2016/aug/15/climate-urgency-weve-locked-in-more-global-warming-than-people-realize?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other" rel="nofollow - recent report warned that we are already locked into far more planetary warming than most folks realize. Given that humans continue to inject over 30 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere annually, and the fact that what is already there has us locked into (conservatively) another 1.5-3C of warming in the coming decades, the new climate reality is upon us.

sorry but the planet needs to get rid of about 75% of the "human infestation"
if we were elephants in a game park we would have been "CULLED" ages ago......

carbon20 I agree with you if there is global warming and we created it then we deserve to die in droves then things will go back in balance.
I do not know why people are so concerned, the dinosaurs died out and we can do the same. We are just conceited enough that we think we should be on earth forever. Guess what not going to happen!

Yes the Creator did create this planet for humans.

We share 98.5% of our DNA with our closest relative the chimpanzee, where you conceived and birthed any differently than a chimpanzee.....doubt it!!!!!

At this moment Russia is preparing nuclear weapons, Pakistan is getting ready for war with India after a terrorist attack in Kasmer-India. North Korea is preparing for war with South Korea, US and Japan.
China and Russia consider IS as a US-proxy-army wich is aimed against their countries. Israel does not want Iran or Hezbollah near its borders but is facing Russian S400 anti-aircraft systems in Syria.
The world is a powder keg that can explode any minute....
Climate-wise the antarctic summer will see a sharp increase in melt of land ice, more storms etc. Greenland is facing extreme land-ice melt. Warmer ocean waters itself is expanding the water, creating a larger volume. Sealevelrise will go faster with more and stronger storms, more extreme rainfall. Insects etc. are on the move and so are the illnesses they spread.
Political and economic unrest will increase-with several elections in the US and Europe seeing candidates from outside the estheblishment. You can not expect to pay debts by creating more debts. Somewere it will stop. The massive fraudulent scheme in wich public createdmoney is used to buy private debts is resulting in increasing poverty for most of us while an "elite" is getting richer (and more powerfull). Economy and politics have mixed in a very unhealthy way.
