When Trump selected Paul Manafort to shepherd his nomination through the GOP Convention in Cleveland, I was alarmed....Manafort is known for his shameless and self-serving "consulting" on behalf of tyrants worldwide.

I think that Manafort's charges and role in the Trump campaign will be crucial to the Mueller investigation, and wanted to start a thread to discuss this. He has far more brains & deviousness than Don Trump Jr., Jarod Kushner, and other players in this opera, and I believe that he was instrumental in connecting the Russian government to the Trump Campaign, using his ties to the Russian government (which he denies having).

This is interesting and shows excellent investigative work on Mueller's part!!

Be smart: This is a rough message by Mueller to witnesses and targets that they can be tracked and recorded even when they don't realize it. Every signal Mueller sends — with his early-morning raid on Manafort, his hires of Enron and Mafia prosecutors, and his quick flips — is that he is playing ruthlessly.

I'm also wondering that myself! Perhaps if Mueller indicts Jarod Kushner or Don Trump Jr., he would move against Mueller claiming that any father would move to protect their kids.

These agents on Mueller's team are the A-Team....skilled in taking down Mafia & terrorists, they know their stuff.

I think that, if Trump started the wheels moving to fire Mueller, it would take time if Rosenstein would not do the dirty work (likely). If this starts to happen, expect a quick report from Mueller to Congress, detailing the impeachment charges against Trump. My guess is that Mueller and his team have been working very hard on such a report as a firewall.

Personally, I have no faith that the Republicans in Congress will do the right thing, since they all folded on the Roy Moore Senate race.

It is almost a maxim of the Trump era that the bounds of the unthinkable continuously shrink. The capitulation to Moore was a dry run for the coming assault on the rule of law.

The leash is being loosened on Manafort....he is facing charges with decades in prison time, and he's over 65, so I expect him to make a dash for Russia with a Russian passport in hand when things get hot.

Watch for it.

If he has to surrender his property, big deal....it was all stolen money anyway. His oligarch patrons in Russia and Ukraine will make it up to him, especially if he pukes all sorts of state secrets to Putin.
