There has been an almost complete media blackout during the current very bad Flu season in the U.S. Not only did my fiance catch the flu as well as another one near and dear to me, she died of it. - January 28, 2018. 3 days later with full blown flu myself I had a severe heart attack and nearly died. We probably have the worst reporting of the real news on the flu in history in the last 30 years. There is a second strain sweeping across the U.S. now and the CDC site as well as even CIDRAP have next to nothing on it. They don't care. They don't even count or report deaths of those over 65 and what few monitoring systems are not giving us any death counts or real idea of how bad this is. It is very possible the vaccine is less than 10% effective and actually caused the mutation of the current strain as a second wave sweeps the country. I will try and keep you posted. This is a killer flu and it hits the young as well and can take down a person in days. It is still widespread over the U.S. and is also all over U.K. and other countries. Will this go Pandemic? Well besides from losing my fiance to the flu and almost dying myself of the Flu and a heart attack - nothing to worry about. I will tell you - no matter what the big stories on the media are - and who is arguing about what - there is next to nothing about this deadly Flu that is killing people and it really hasn't eased up much. It mutated twice - and it still is humming along and will definitely outlast CDC's pathetic monitoring which ends in May. In fact, we are about ready to go the way of norovirus - there will no longer be a Flu season - it will just get worse - but never go away at all. tc - a day above ground is a good day. Med- I'm so sorry for your lose and very glad to have you back! I wish I could tell you that the sadness goes away in time but it doesn't! Over time if you're one of the lucky ones, it recedes but it's always there. Seek the comfort of friends and know you have some here! Welcome back! ------------- Buy more ammo! |

The flu is still widespread in New York and California. Where I live is like a ghost town so many people are sick and I have been battling a new strain of it for several weeks. There is a complete news blackout on this new bug which has mutated and it is deadly. CDC has evolved into a system which does not report flu deaths, does not require most physicians to report it, and has little interest in how many actually die from it. The media is so blatantly false and irrelevant it is worthless to read. It really is. There are many new strains and outbreaks, some super bugs which resist all antibiotics, and possibly several strains deliberately released in the U.S. by North Korea as they talk peace which could take down our population. I have reached a conclusion there is a powerful group who wishes there would be a widespread reduction of the population, especially the old. Flu activity for those over 65 is not even reported. Many are dying from it and I lost my fiance and have been in the ICU 3x in the last 4 months with this flu. Prep. When the lights go out, there will be no warning and after we had a power outage here for almost a day and lost most of our food - it was bad. In America, there is less and less concern about the disabled and the elderly. The current health care system could not survive even a mild pandemic. This is the 15th flu season that CDC has provided statistics for "influenza-associated pediatric deaths" for the USA. http://https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/" rel="nofollow - http://https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/ This is turning out to be an above the average season for childhood deaths. so far with 142 deaths this season is the 5th most deadly, and above the average (up to last year) of 116 deaths per year. However, given how the figures vary wildly from year to year, this year's total is within one standard deviation of +/- 63. So while the figures are up it is not yet statistically significant [not that childhood deaths from flu follow a normal distribution pattern]

The "Aussie" flu did seem to be quite nasty, although I agree, not exceptionally so. Sadly people do die from flu, or related co-morbibities, every year. The CDC have issued a warning that although the "Aussie" flu strain cases are tailing off, there could be a second wave of influenza B strain cases. I think the "Aussie" strain suppressed this a bit, so now the underdog has unexpectedly emerged to bite us in the behind. Influenza B strains seem to hit the very young the hardest, but they do this every year. Consequently the warning the CDC issued was specifically to parents and meerly said it was not quite over yet so they had to be vigilant a bit longer. I strongly doubt this is anything to get excited about. It is just not quite time to fully relax yet. ------------- How do you tell if a politician is lying? His lips or pen are moving. |
