It may be hard to believe, but researchers are concerned that our sweet, fluffy doggy friends are a “potential reservoir” for future flu pandemics.

Only if it does jump and even then you could just quarrantine them till it blows over, or a vaccine is found.  We can't avoid all chances of zoonosis, well, not without destroying the planet even faster!  -  Propbably not even then.  There are just so many other species to catch stuff from!!!

Even if it does jump, the chances of it jumping from your dogs is remote.  Not letting dogs lick your face, washing your hands after petting them, keeping all their vaccinations up to date and isolating sick ones should be protection enough.  If it does jump species, it is going to do it from a seriously sick dog, on the menu in a wet market.

Besides, they have their uses too - and I say that as a cat lover!

How do you tell if a politician is lying?
His lips or pen are moving.

I caught each of my boys, as a small toddler, on his hands and knees, mouth open, tongue out and the dogs licking the insides of their mouths. And the boys were loving it. They were being dogs. They each did it from the age of about 9 months until they were nearly 2 and there was nothing I could do to stop them. It made them laugh and very happy.

Now, they are strapping great healthy specimens. My eldest, a just 14 year old is 5'11 and a half'' and still growing, and they are as tough as old boots. Dog germs undoubtedly helped to strengthen their immune system.

One of them was making himself chicken noodle soup last night, and he put the wooden spoon down on the countertop and the cat licked it all over. He came back to the saucepan and picked up the spoon, and I said the cat had licked it, and he shrugged his shoulders and stirred his soup with it and then poured it into a bowl.

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.
