OK, so this is REALLY stupid and I have very little patience for a faith so easily subverted into violence. But I do have some sympathy here. Surely someone can make a vaccine without pork products in it!
I am lucky in that my own faith is adaptive. There would be no conflict if I found myself in such a predicament, as such a thing would be perceived as a failure of my own interpretation, rather than a fight with scientific truths. Science carries proof of its statements or does not make them.
The choice for Muslims here is a very difficult one. If positions were reversed, I would vaccinate and take whatever pennance was given. Anything else would just be stupid.

I work with a very devoted Sunni Muslim,he tells me that if you were starving then it's OK to eat pork,to save your life
Islam is not a backward religion only some of the people that practice it,
Funny how the Pakistanis are up in arms about a woman who is said to have commited blasphemy,
But go cap in hand to China which is a atheist country and has interned 2 million Muslim's .....

Same as Iran who sit down with China because they wasnt China to buy their Oil....
